I have no idea why the price dropped but I think I should buy just in case.

I am worried about legal implications..  isn`t it better to have "3rd party" solutions like dark wallet, etc?

Holding all coins you mine is too much of a gamble...you'd lose money investing in whatever you choose with that mindset.
Buy and hold doesn't always work, it only works in a bullish market (like the way the stocks behaved over the course of a few decades, which created this mindset).
If you're an investor, you are a trader and you should invest responsibly, have a risk management strategy and some sort of plan.
Tossing money at something won't make you rich, you're just betting your way into wealth, and it won't work.

Here's a quick update for those interested.

One thing on the horizon for Vertcoin in terms of new features is stealth addresses (anonymous transactions). Beyond that there are some maintenance updates coming up; first with a sync to litecoin 0.8.7.1 (most notably backported malleability fixes from bitcoin 0.9), you might have noticed that Monocle is already based on 0.8.7.1. Followed by a move to bitcoin 0.9 codebase instead of litecoin later on, with all that means in terms of bugfixes and performance improvements. We've also been discussing an update notification system (idea stage). Watch-only is still on the table too.

Monocle now being released also means that we're waiting to see if new (and old) coin developers will be interested in adopting the merged-mining code base for their projects, since it benefits both their and our network security to do so, it's a win-win situation in terms of security. So far it's going well with the block-reward now being full size for the next 9000 blocks or so before the first reduction, and its achieved a 1.2 GHash network rate. And with asics becoming a more immediate problem to gpu miners, we should see more adoption of both Vertcoin, Monocle and the other asic-unfriendly coins in the coming months.

ASICs are delivered and LTC diff is over 7000 now... still rising!

Diff pump started 26. of april from 5k to 6k. Next pump on 29. of april from 6k to 7k.

And yes, its true! If you wanna gamble, just gamble with money that you wont miss on your dinnertable!

MON just came out.
Just wait for some new coin developers to get a hold of the source for MON and make new coins. With the incentive of merged mining with VTC, they should start coming out soon. Miners could mine, potentially worthless, coins, but still get VTC and secure profits for electricity. Regardless of their success, the network and community will grow.

If you got into Vertcoin, you must have understood it was long-term compared to other alts. These 250MH Scrypts are not shipping out until Q3-Q4 2014. By the time GPU miners are pressed for new options, they will see Vertcoin and it's many sidechains and be more interested than other algos.

Just give it some time, things are still getting started.

To raise the price we need new investors, new investors would come if there is a large market that accepts VTC / USD

Ithink that MON are taking a part of price from VTC, hope in the future it can be better, but a lot of from your story is similar to me,and i am abit worried about future price, time will tell

For me it looks like a lot of people doing crypto trading and mining are sad of the thing now.

I am  for example beeing in this world for a half year now. Alltogether i think i lost around 5000€ over the last
six months investing in LTC, a mining rig andspend BTC on coins. All the coins i mined i did hold and nearly all of them getting worthless.
After discussion with upcomming asics i decided to go VTC. I bought at 690k, 400K, 240K and in the beginning on 40K.
So at current price i have a red zero on VTC, but with more price decline ists getting really red now.

It´s a big loss alltogether now and mining on my powercost is a dayly loos of 50% ( means i can buy 50% lower than mine myself )

My last big loss was trying to mine AC for 2 week. The coins are now wothless ( since yesterday ) because the big dev scam
Also X11 coins like DRK and HIRO can´t be mined without a 50% loss.

So my conclusion is to stop all this shit and not produce more loss. I spend soo much time. In the end its a big loss.
I think i am not the only one around here with similar story.
There are no new buyers, i see no reason why the prices can rise in future.
The only thing  you can profit from crypto is that you are on a coin that is getting pumped and you can find luckly the time to go out.
You need to have more luck on this game than playing lottery.
I still have 1K VTC that i will hold, but that´s it.

As long as goverments not ready to accept a payment systems that is out of control of them they will fight against.
We are sitting in the wrong boat in this game. They will never accept any.

Vertcoin will not explode the way some people think it will until crypto currency as a whole explodes among the general population of this planet. Right now there are millions of people who know and use crypto currencies like bitcoin, when that number turns into hundreds of millions of people then you can expect vertcoin to also explode. You guys who call yourselves investors in the space without even understanding the situation as a whole of the technology and how price relates to adoption of the underlying technology as a whole by the masses amuse me.

I expect vertcoin to reach the thousands of dollars but only after true widespread adoption of blockchain technology within this planet happens.

Anyone else having issues seeing payments ( or getting them ) for MON though Hashharder?
