It's just my opinion, but I am 100% there is no such thing as ASIC proof. If there is real value to it, an asic will be created. That's just how it works.

I guess that's why, after investing in KnC's Titan miner you are now hoping to recover your money via VTC and other Scrypt-N coins after it is no longer feasible to do so with Litecoin?

+1 ASICs are nothing but trouble for all. Get into Bitcoin mining if you want madness (and you don't like sleeping).

Expect the coming days many cheap coins, before vert update

- people with ASIC will always sell for BTC and then for $$$$
they have to pay expensive ASIC

they don't believe in any coin, only interest them money right now

+1 Exactly.

Ironically, each Titan coming online and mining VTC brings about the fork even faster. I think I like how this works Smiley

Not really. The difficulty will retarget it, I suppose.

I just noticed that RC1 of sgminer-Lyra2RE has been released: https://github.com/metalicjames/sgminer-Lyra2RE/releases/tag/5.0.0-Lyra2RE-RC1

Are there already some test pools / testnets to test the new sgminer-Lyra2RE on Lyra2RE stratum mining?

Asics are unavoidable and should be embraced as a natural evolution of a coin. ... sad.

What makes you think so?

Your fighting a losing battle by continuing to change your algo over and over once an asic is able to mine. A successful coin will never be mined by GPU and CPU only because there is value to the coin. If there is value to something, someone will create a better way to mine it which in the end helps create network security.

This is the basis of crytpo and any coin fighting it will lose eventually.

1. ASIC is cryptoworld pathology

2. Let's see how in the end the network "security" of ASIC based coins will look like:

Nakamoto's nightmare.

Bullshit, anyone can buy ASICS just like anyone can buy GPUs.

anyone can buy, but almost noone want to be a sucker, is that right? Cheesy

“There’s still going to be $2 billion, at today’s price, mined in the next few years. That’s a lot of cash that’s up for grabs, and we’re going to do our best to take a decent chunk of it.”

KnCMiner has decided to stop selling to individual miners entirely. Instead, KnCMiner will continue building up its datacenters in cheap-electricity regions of the world

The good news is that we're ready for a fork. It's nice to be prepared. Hopefully the Dev's take their time and don't rush anything. A few days of dumps the market can handle. The price will dip and recover, that is unless those mining with ASICs believe the price will go up. What could be much worse is a bad fork.

Take a deep breath, relax, and stay on target. ASICs were bound to happen and we were prepared. As long as we have options to change our Algo we'll stay ahead of ASICs even if they catch up once in a while.

Now is the time to start the marketing campaign as well as spreading the new word of mouth (the cheapest and most effective way of advertising)

Good things are coming and if we want VTC to succeed like we know it will we can't just be onlookers but rather we need to be part of branding, teaching and ultimate success of this fantastic coin.

Keep up the great work dev's. We'll do our best from our end while you work tirelessly on yours!

The Antminer L1 and the KNC Titan can mine VTC after the hard fork to Lyra2RE?
no

TY.
After 15:00 UTC the VTC hashrate is quadrupled. Maybe BitmainTech is testing his miners. KNC released a Scrypt-N beta software.
Interesting, yeah, difficulty shot up 5 x

Oh! When I see the difficulty was skyrocketed I thought it was already released. So why is diff. so high then?

It's probably so high because KnC's Titan finally can mine Scrypt-N (in a beta release), hashing at about 100 MH/s

dude, are you selling asics or something? (looked up posthistory of user who is only posting asic related on all threads atm)

Are you paid in workhours or based on number of posts?

So where can I find a new miner software (for windows) which supports lyra2re?

It's not released yet. I'm preparing RC1 as we speak... Cheesy
