Good time to buy while people are dumping, because it is a difficult coin to mine and generally only now in small amounts at a time the value will rocket again soon because there will not be enough coins to meet demand.

Something weird is going on with http://coinmarketcap.com/ and http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/info, VTC's market cap hasn't moved in hours on coinmarketcap.com and the other one is showing 0 USD

Agreed, I don't like that.

vtcpool.co.uk users - I am going to do the following:

- There is going to be a move from pointing to vtcpool.co.uk to pointing to stratum.vtcpool.co.uk, so you will have to reconfigure your miners. Don't do it yet - I will advise later when I have actually finished planning for this.
- p2pool users will similarly need to point their miners at p2pool.vtcpool.co.uk rather than just vtcpool.co.uk, but again, don't change anything yet.

These changes will permit the frontend to be DDoS protected properly.

The whole shebang is going to move to at least one, and possibly a pair of dedicated high-end servers.

Basically, I am going to sort it once and for all.

On the positive side, everything is stable and OK now and has been for some hours. It seems the changes I made have worked, and the pool is coping with the attacks, but I want to put in place measure that protect it against future attacks better, so this kind of remedial work is no longer necessary.

More updates soon once I have a plan put together.

Help please. I have been trying to mine vertcoin for a day now and it shows that I'm not even mining but when I look at my screen I see:

This is the command I'm using:

timeout /t 30
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://crunchpool.mooo.com:9171 -u [wallet address] -p password -I 13
-g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --temp-target 70 --
auto-fan

But, on this page, http://p2pool.crunchpool.com:9171/static/#tipsfaq, my miner doesn't show up and I have gotten 0 payouts. Any ideas?

You're actually doing more harm than good. Did you download the modified cgminer/vertminer for Vertcoin? I'm expecting you'll see about 1/2 those hash rates when you make the switch.

I did download the modded cgminer/vertminer but with the same command, the miner wouldn't even start?

can you tell what gpu's you got?

I have ASUS R9 280x (3 of them). I was able to get vertminer going just now but each card is only pulling 130 kh/s with this command:

timeout /t 30
vertminer -o stratum+tcp://crunchpool.mooo.com:9171 -u [wallet] -p password --expiry 1
--scan-time 1 --queue 0

Any params I should add to get better hashrate?

"api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1",
"api-listen" : true,
"api-mcast-port" : "4029",
"api-port" : "4029",
"no-submit-stale" : true,
"scrypt" : true,
"auto-fan" : true,
"auto-gpu" : true,
"device" : "0,2",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"gpu-engine" : "1080,1080",
"gpu-fan" : "35-85,35-85
"gpu-memclock" : "1500,1500",
"gpu-powertune" : "20,20",
"intensity" : "13,13,",
"temp-target" : "75,75",
"temp-overheat" : "88,88",
"temp-cutoff" : "95,95",

"worksize" : "256,256",
"lookup-gap" : "2,2",
"shaders" : "2048,2048",
"thread-concurrency" : "8192,8192"

This gets me a steady 375Kh/s each on 2 Asus 280x.

I also have the asus, can you please help me out with the windows version settings.. (.bat file)

Thanks

i'm looking to build a mining pc for VertCoin. Which is more important system ram or vram? If I can get a video card with either 3gb or 4gb, will the 4gb be worth it for longevity?

This is a question i was wondering about, and price/performance what would the best cards to go for be?

Just felt like doing this! Rendered on gpu instead of mining with the gpu :p
If you like it, a donation would be great! Any amount helps!

Let me explain. Pool software has a whole set of cron jobs scheduled to run at a regular intervals of time. If even a small error occurs, pool automatically disables corresponding cron job. That's what has happened with vtc.poolz.net, at 6:31 AM EST the following message has arrived:

Error Code   E0062
Error Message   Block has no share_id, not running payouts

The problem was with the block number 29921. After that, blocks were being found but were invisible because of disabled cron job, responsible for accounting of newly found blocks. I woke up around 11 am, investigated the problem and fixed it. After that I enabled the cron job previously disabled by the pool sw. Blocks found during the time when the cron job was disabled got accounted and paid and now you can see that in fact from 6:30 to 12:11 we found 11 blocks.

Till the last time we had efficiency of 80-95% (means that we managed to find more blocks than we should in average). Last day our pool experienced multiple DDOS attacks (and other Vertcoin pools too). I spent lots of time and almost a whole night trying to mitigate these attacks (currently we have mod_evasive enabled only which helps to some extent), and our pool soon will be moved to a data center with AntiDDOS support. Because of the DDOS attacks our efficiency decreased a little bit, but I hope that we will catch up.

So in reply to the: "I think the big mining rigs have caught up and learned how to compile and tweak Vertminer", I can't say anything about other pools, but this one is not stealing your money for sure. 1% Pool fee gives me a bit more than my mining rig, but I'm spending more time to maintain it, compared to my mining rig. In the last 2 days I upgraded server powers twice - and now pool server's hardware allows to accommodate 5 times more miners than current amount.

Guys, I'm on vtc.poolz.net. They have 10% of the mining power, but haven't found a block in a few hours. Next difficulty is estimated to be 189!  Network hash rate is 5.2Ghash/s and climbing, which gives this coin a 10.4Ghash network in LTC Scrypt terms. I think the big mining rigs have caught up and learned how to compile and tweak Vertminer.

Azure Vertcoin Pool

DDOS reisistant P2Pool Node

http://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171/

To connect to this P2Pool node simply point your miner at:

URL: stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171
Username: Your vertcoin address
Password: Anything

Sample configuration

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171 -u YOUR-VTC-ADDRESS -p ANYTHING

Fast facts

1. P2Pool nodes are all part of one single, big, distributed pool
2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share
3. There is no pool wallet, and hence no payout threshold. Payments go directly to your wallet
4. The distributed nature of p2pool resists DDoS attacks

Decentralize the hashrate!

one of the reason's this coin thrives is because of active dev support.  like how many pool's changed TX fee's down to 0.001 or 0.0001 even.
fucking Slush's BTC pool still has it at 0.01BTC!

Musent, append "+0.00[some value]" to your wallet address, see the p2p tips page for the value you need.

If your hashrate is about 1 MH/s for vertcoin than that value would be around 0.000235

So Vsdgegfgbsthe55twgtwrgw4tg+0.000235  as username.

So, I did this as my username: -u Vce24ghKrRpqGSU8VDmHTJvVpJtmqoH1Fw+0.00047 since I have 2 mh/s. If this is right, how long until I can make sure it's working right and get a payout?

Go to the pool's site (http://crunchpool.mooo.com:9171/static) and go to the "graphs" page.
Under your wallets address you should see two graphs, compare to others and see if you get anything in the lower graph.
Might take a while.

Edit: You didn't configure your card at all, check the page dedicated to card settings. (See first page of this thread)
Edit2: Oh, in the message before your last one you did set parameters, disregard ^

Yes, but the settings in the thread were better than mine so I'm gonna run with those for now and see how they do.
