Why am I only getting - Rejected (Share is above target) ?

Are you using one of the custom miners from the web site? Standard cgminer/etc won't work. VTC doesn't use standard scrypt algorithm.

Expect long waits to deposit to Cryptsy. This happened with DOGE - 8 hours wait.

Also they launched 3 big coins at once. Not sure why. Guess to torture us?

I think maybe better to keep coins on coinedup sometimes. At least you can trade
there instead of waiting 8 hours. I will take slow load times over not having any coins to trade all day.

Totally different question:

vertminer and the custom cgminer for Vertcoin both have the glitch (I think) where if you try to set clocks and/or fan speeds and some other values, they will crash your system when you exit normally.

Does anyone have a recompiled/fixed version so this doesn't happen?

Thanks!

I believe that is only an issue with R9's. It's a known bug, try ending task on cgminer before modifying settings in batch file.

##P2Pool##

http://gl-security.net:9171

Fully redundant P2Pool (Two identical but separate systems running P2Pool instances). These will AUTO fail over if any issues were to occur -- totally transparent to user (maybe a few discarded shares).

Enjoy and PM me with any questions/issues!

Another pump and dump coin.
Yes, because it's the same as... um... nothing else right now. Oops. I think this could actually end up being a better coin than LTC, thanks to:

1) It's more resistant to ASICs
2) It has KGW so it's resistant to pools
3) No premine or other silliness on the launch
4) Pays out slow and steady over a long period of time.

Why shouldn't Vertcoin succeed where so many others have failed (other than the name and logo)? At present we are not even at block 30K, which means there are fewer than 1,500,000 VTC in existence. Sure, the first week or two things went a bit too fast, but now we've leveled off and for the foreseeable future we'll generate blocks every 2.5 minutes. We are 810,000 blocks away from the reward halving, and KGW means we really won't hit the halving much earlier than expected. That means 33,750 hours -- or 1406.25 days, or 3.85 years -- from now, we will have mined half of all VTC. By mining slow and steady (as opposed to, say, DOGE), we avoid the potential for a massive pump and dump.

Yes agree.. everything points to this coin having a even higher future...

Unfortunately mining's gotten real hard now.. but the for some of the original guys: Mine and Hold.. Smiley

One of the longest running, most trusted VTC pools around

The DDoSers tried to stop us, but we are well and truly firing on all cylinders at vtcpool.co.uk

P2Pool (recommended) and traditional pool available for VTC

P2Pool: http://vtcpool.co.uk:9171
Traditional MPOS pool: https://vtcpool.co.uk

P2Pool setup guide and FAQ

Why use p2pool?

  • Mined coins are deposited directly in your wallet in the generation payment for the block,
they are never held by a pool wallet and can't be lost due to failures or hacking/thefts
  • Even if the node you connect to fails, you don't lose the coins you mined - your shares are distributed on the network
  • Distributed (less vulnerable to DoS attacks, less chance of big pools having enough hashrate to be capable of a 51% attack)
  • Private (you are paid with coinbase transactions and your public key is never seen on the network until you spend the funds)

Feel free to use https://vtcpool.co.uk if you prefer a traditional pool. Especially, users with lower hashrates may find earnings
are better on the traditional pool. There is room for a mixture of pool types, but please help further strengthen the decentralisation
of Vertcoin by using p2pool if it works well for you.

To mine on p2pool, use your VTC address as username, and any password, so your command line should be like:

vertminer -o stratum+tcp://vtcpool.co.uk:9171 -u Vw44xQPqgwbqZVpRzPoHe6M4jAGYceiZZP -p x

Please follow the advice in the P2Pool setup guide and FAQ about setting your minimum
share difficulty - this will prevent HW errors and stales and improve your mining income.

Not bad :p? Those are practically LTC prices already

im not even joking when i say  VTC hits 0.1

I'm not joking when I say I'm expecting to see it at par, just not yet.

On a core 2 duo system with Win7 64 bit, Nvidia GTX 550 Ti. I can get the 32 bit version of the modified cudaminer going, but with the 64 bit version every pool says boooo to every result, but the 32 is working fine, any ideas?

I think vertminer-0.5.3 has a fix for that, but you can also close any version without those problems by going to taskmanager and kill the program.

Since cgminer has dropped GPU support, I suggest future vertminer builds be based on the bfgminer codebase.
