6990's are only out of stock because AMD underestimated the demand. It was the same thing with the 5970's when those were released. They sold out quick but then AMD got back on track and manufactured more than there was demand for. There will be another massive shipment coming to retailers around this time next month. Plenty will be available folks, no need to rush in paying double retail price for one now.

If someone buys a container load of these and wants to sell then resell in packs of 10 at a discount I'd be interested, otherwise I'll stick to pricewatch showing which established place has them at a good deal. I mean even newegg ad Tigerdirect has 6970s for 340.

I really don't understand why people say 5830 are out of stock ... maybe if you're only looking at online store.  Grab the Yellow Pages (maybe yp.com; didn't try it), call around at the stores under "Computers". Bam! I picked up 10 cards today from 3 different places.

Its one thing to try and make a quick buck, its another to gouge.  Doubling the retail price on a 6990 is beyond ridiculous, considering there are other alternatives for a lot cheaper.

And with that attitude, little alone the price, I doubt you'll get anyone to jump on this.

Oh and just doing a quick search:

At the time of this post is in stock for $800

That seems pretty shitty to fuck people for double the value of the card, buy 2 6970s for 1/2 the costs and get same mhash
so people wait until they become available and let this crook keep his video  card made of gold.
I can do 6970s 10 at a time for $360-$379 each depending on brand.

What would be max reasonable price for 6690 in $us for you guys? Thing is there is plenty of 6690 in Europe but price is just not right.

I'm new to this whole thing and I was wondering if someone with knowledge could explain to me advantages of 6690 vs 6790

Here are my stats ( correct me if I'm wrong)

                                               6690                     6790
                                        -----------------------------------
Watt                                        346                        150
Approx M-hash/sec                   670                        220
Approx US retail price               $770                      $140

3x 6790 gets you 660 M-hash/sec and uses 450 W $420, the difference in price would cover many months of extra Watt

What am I missing?  Because I'm thinking of building mining rig in Europe using 6790 and would like to hear opinions on it.

Thank you

when there are none available the price goes up. yea, im trying to make a quick buck on the craze so i can try to setup a more long-term mining project myself. there is a shortage and im trying to capitalize on it. if people want it that bad and buy it, is it my fault?

if your on this website, your trying to make money. instead of mining bitcoins i mined a 6990 today and i can exchange that for bitcoins/usd.

the demand has shot the price up. used ones sell for 1000 on ebay.

the demand has diminished the supplies.

you have to try to make a hustle wherever you can do it.

heres my ebay listing for the item. look my girlfriends holding it. Grin

Customer handling skills near 0... and prices that seem out of whack.. But then again, since our dollar rose here, a lot of that stuff is cheaper here now... Just hit Directcanada.com or ncix, or any of the bigger online stores... cheaper, better service, warranties, support, etc. Besides, anyone who knows anything about the high end, knows that two 6970's will rock a 6990... plus you can spread the heat out in your case. Crap... buy a few 6950's and unlock them... ATM sale priced 5850s in triplicate will outdo a 6990... and last i checked.. for 1500, you could buy ten of them...

Please.. don't go buying a 6990 for 1500 when a couple 6970's will outshine it.

I'd be cautious buying from the OP.  Customer handling skills seem zero to none.  :-x

I see sellers on Amazon and ebay asking for these hilariously ridiculous prices and I really have to wonder if there are really people paying them these prices. *sigh*

Believe me I don't care either.  A 6990 for $1500 will pay for itself in what, like a year?  If that?
