The irony of this for me was that tonight I was going to transfer my coins to my wallet. Guess the hackers beat me to it. Hopefully all is well, not the first time Vircurex has gone down.

They were hacked and they are updating their wallet.  Its happened before to Vircuex I doubt your funds are lost but they are going to be down for the weekened while they reset their wallet and patch their code.

Just never keep large amounts of coin in any exchange, you should only move them there when your buying or selling.

been down most of the day...  I just deposited some coins there and was waiting on confirmations when they went down, hope they are still there when it comes back

I hear alot of good about btc-e, but I thought it sucked.  I registered there and not one page would load properly, nothing worked for me... this was last week.

This site is awful, use http://host-tracker.com/ instead.

That said, visiting it I get this message:
Quote
The systems Vircurex.com and Cryptostocks.com have been taken offline over the weekend
Please do not deposit any further coins to your Vircurex accounts. We must assume that the wallet has been compromised.

I hear nothing but bad news from vircurex, i'd stick to btc-e for trading, seems the most stable and reliable for now (i'm not getting paid to say this, just my 10c worth)

It's got me thinking about DDOS attacks and what they are really capable of doing to a crypto currency.
