As it was said in the OP the paradigm shift in value transfer is around the corner. It  is evidenced by Visa which has partnered with  Crypto.com to except payments made in USDC. In the case if someone is not aware that is stablecoin , dollar wrapped to smart contract on Ethereum blockchain.  Just citing the  head of crypto at Visa “We see increasing demand from consumers across the world to be able to access, hold and use digital currencies and we’re seeing demand from our clients to be able to build products that provide that access for consumers".

bitcoin exists so that people don't need centralized shitshows such as these credit card companies.
Without those "centralized shitshows" bitcoin is nothing so far. For my every day living I cash out bitcoin to top my plastic cards (waitng to be  processed by credit card companies) and go to local groceries. Your words would weight something if I could buy nessary  things solely with bitcoins.

Is this loyalty or moving with the curve.

One thing naturally follows the other.

i prefer to have a bitcoin mobile wallet in my pocket and not pay extra fees to these companies to use my own money which they can block anytime they wanted. Wink

The utter illusion.. if you cash out using your mobile wallet it still has the incorporated payment  processor to whom you pay the fee.

This is a great news for the crypto community. It is interesting to know that top financial institutions like visa and mastercard have adopted cryptocurrencies. This shows how fast bitcoin is being adopted in the mainstream world.
I am pretty sure of the effect this will have on the masses in that it will change their perception about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and aid adoption even faster. Trust me, with this giant step by these two companies, quite a lot other companies will soon join the train of adopting bitcoin, either by buying it or by accepting it as a means of payment for their goods or services

All in all - I like the crypto credit cards just for the sake of it. I have Wirex, had Tenx, have Crypto.com metal card. Don't use it very often, but I like the thought that I *have* the option to instantly spend some of my crypto if I wish. And I think it is also good for adoption - or awarness for that matter.

FWIW BitPay is switching their bitcoin funded debit card from VISA to MasterCard. Currently issued BitPay VISA cards can't be loaded after July 31, 2020 and December 31, 2020 is the last day to spend a balance on the card. New cards issued now are MasterCards.

Seems both Visa and Mastercard become more loyal to cryptocurrency.
Is this loyalty or moving with the curve. Any business who want to continue making profit should move according to the curve when new technologies come along and historically there were companies who were not able to move along with the technology and went out of business and this is just part of Mastercard and Visa as they are just payment networks and it is not a surprise that they are incorporating a decentralized payment network.

Wirex cards have been around for quite long, And I did create an account on their platform and installed their wallet, and also got the card but stopped making use of it. I wasn't really interested in all that, because I was tired of the monthly fees and all that when there are banks that won't even charge you a fee lol.

Their monthly fee is $1.50, and apart from that you are also going to be paying 3% fee for every spending you make and $2.50 ATM fee. At the end my main purpose of buying cryptocurrency is not to be spending them in stores, I have other purposes.

Yes they have, but their previous card deal was a Visa 3rd party deal via Wirecard (and you know what happened to them recently, right?). They actually also had a previous supplier, IIRC but this was all third-party. This is like most crypto card issuers, so whenever their provider ran into issues, so did they, and this is the inconvenience I refer to, been a whole mess of crypto card problems since 2015/16, which was also why a lot of ICOs in that era all tried to do a crypto card deal. But their root problem was relying on 3rd parties.

THIS time, it's a principal deal, meaning a direct partnership. So it's Mastercard direct with Wirex, which is a very different deal. Only Coinbase before this as I know has a principal partnership (with Visa, actually). So it's Coinbase and Wirex. Anyone knows of any other crypto principals for Visa/MC?

I did not realise Wirex got the principal partnership, think that makes it now two crypto companies having that, and since Wirex seems to be then supplying whitelabel onwards, it appears the crypto card dream will become easier and easier now -- meanwhile, Binance's plans to be the first such card issued in my part of the world (Malaysia) seems to have hit a snag with the regulators there.

Tried so many types of cards in my time, but with crypto, I've more or less given up and just gone the direct sell for fiat route. Can't be arsed to try a new card when how they work keep changing, and these fintechs and companies just seem so touch-and-go, I'm not sure I'll ever try a crypto card again.

Maybe someone does not want to waste time and will use wiresx to exchange fiat funds for cryptocurrency or vice versa, while paying a large percentage. But I would rather use the old principle, use bestchange, and make an exchange at the price that is more beneficial to me. Perhaps in the future, When the cryptocurrency will be massively used in society, this project will have much more prospects.

bitcoin exists so that people don't need centralized shitshows such as these credit card companies. it is worth nothing if they show a positive attitude towards cryptocurrencies. in my opinion it only shows that they have seen yet another market that they can make money from and want a piece of it before their competitors enter it.

Any one here with Crypterium card in the pocket? Interested in both editions, Upay and Visa.

I'm not alone and wouldn't be surprised to meet "Mastercard" coin in the nearest future, mark my words.

And what would be so great about a MasterCard coin?

Do you think they will create a decentralized coin? No!
Do you think they will let you use it without KYC? No!
Do you think they will allow you to invest in it? No!
Do you think they will have a bounty program? No!

Do you think they will implement the same measures of locking your coins as they do with cards if they find your acount suspicious? Yes!

Coins issued by payment processing companies or banks are NOT good news and why would they even exist? We already have digital fiat, there is no need for a centralized coin.

PS.
You didn't get the  excited / "visa is cumming" joke, too bad I thought it was a pretty good pun.

it’s not about the cards. It is all about the largest paying processor, namely Mastercard, massively entering the cryptoworld.

Another proof you have no idea what you're talking about, Mastercard is not the largest paying processor, Visa is outranking them.

The officials are approaching   every crypto company, literally,   and calls upon  extending the cooperation with Mastercard. Then Visa is cumming up.

I think you've got a little bit too excited about the news.

Aren't crypto debit cards old news already? I mean I've seen Coinbase and BitPay have one for years now and both of them are VISA.

Yes, they are, crypto cards that work in fiat and nothing special, you simply use the issuer as an exchange, the merchant doesn't even know it's a "bitcoin" card.
The so-called "paradigm shift" the OP is, again, so excited to see  Cheesy will come when you will have a visa card in BTC, not in euro, usd, gpb.

I would love to know How many years it takes crypterium to achieve this because I was made to believe MasterCard accepting any crypto project follows a very rigorous process. Amon card has been fighting for this for so long to the point they are now considering Chinese Upay card. Hearing this news shows it is achievable and probably MasterCard is giving crypto related project an edge.

Aren't crypto debit cards old news already? I mean I've seen Coinbase and BitPay have one for years now and both of them are VISA. I think it was made possible because they aren't dealing directly with cryptocurrencies but crypto converted to FIAT so technically these credit card providers are still dealing with fiat currencies rather than crypto as the cryptocurrencies are dealt and exchange by the wallet providers. Also these companies won't really close their doors in crypto as they know this is another market for them to make more money.

Seems both Visa and Mastercard become more loyal to cryptocurrency. Crypterium has become the  licensed card issuer of  Visa (partnered with European branch)  while  Mastercard granted Wirex a principal membership. I'm really excited, finally they made it for cryptocurrency.

But... Isn’t Wirex offering the same cryptocurrency services on their app? I have not used Wirex before, I tried to make use of it once and after installing their app they started requesting for my ID, I wasn’t ready to give my ID to them, because I didn’t have the particular ID they requested, so I wasn’t able to finish up the process.

I had to uninstall their application. But I know very well that you can accept Bitcoin using the Wirex card. You can receive lots of currencies using Wirex. I don’t know about this Crypterium, but I will check it later.

Surprise surprise. These companies will do anything, even when out of their interest, as long as they can make money off it. Look at Jamie Dimon suddenly doing a 180 when they learned that they could create their own coin. 🤣

What shift is happening?
Wirex had Visa cards from 4 years ago, there were a lot more cards issued by Visa well before the Wavecrest fiasco.

The only shift I see happening is that poeple are overjoyed at sending and storing their coins on a 3rd party and using Visa's and Mastercard's solution rather than the blockchain, quite an ironic outcome in my opinion, rather than seeing Visa getting "killed" by the blockchain, I see coins getting transfered via their system off chain.

Wirex has a nice benefit with their rewards program, giving 1.5% back in BTC for every purchase made.

Read the fine print!
It's UP to 1.5%, and that only if you hold 500k WXT tokens.  Grin
Combined with the exchange fee, the adjusted exchnge rate, their fx fee if you're outside the EU for example that 0.5% will not cover even a bit of it
Oh, and I do have one!, but as many others in the Wirex topic, I see absolutely no reason to use it before my normal visa card other than....avoid further explanations with a certain financial office  Wink.

Good to hear that both Mastercard and Visa are really adopting crypto. I would also be interested if someone can review both Crypterium and Wirex.
