You need to read between the lines with him sometimes. If he said he wasn't paid with token...it might mean he was paid cash and he bought tokens with it. If he says he is not holding any tokens, maybe he already sold it OR donated it. He is telling the truth but may not be how some would interpret it.
That said, he is a good guy who supports lots of charities. He doesn't do these things for free but he "shares" his blessings. I like and respect him.

He supports lots of ICO by advising them, he might paid or not but still we can see that his trusting ICO that are legits and aumung to get some advised from him. He's indeed good on crypto that's why we can see on social media every ICo RT or posted something with him.
He would tried out to hit 2 birds in one stone and for those who invested on Wetrust this news would really be a good one because we can assume already that it would succeed specially if buterin is involved on this but well theres no assurance though because it would still depend on communities support to the project.
