this is the usual thing about the difference between blockchain technology and bitcoin. and while they are different, you can say bitcoin is the beginning of all this. and you can't adopt the technology without adopting bitcoin.
i believe what Putin means is more about adopting the technology itself and even possibly creating their own coin out of it.
but eventually they all turn to adopt bitcoin at some point. you can't fight the decentralization.

Nevertheless, there is no exact decision on the official use of cryptocurrency on the territory of Russia that complicates the work of crypto-investors who are there. We can only wait for official information on regulation.

Putin doesnt want to be late when it comes to blockchain technology. He has witnessed a lot of countries banning this new technology and has probably seen the effects of it. In an article http://bitcoinist.com/vladimir-putin-endorses-blockchain-russia/ he stressed that those who are “late in the race” would be dependent on leaders who adopted blockchain early. Since a lot of big countries supports blockchain technology, he wanted russia to be part of it.

There's a video circulating around Crypto regarding this very same quote, though the thing is that the quote came from July of maybe one year ago? So this whole bullish crypto news thing isn't new, it's old news which people are trying to push for again to try to swing the market around. Sadly, I'm not surprised by this sort of behavior in crypto.

I hope the newbies notice this before they buy in.

Are you suggesting that this is still not the right time to buy bitcoins ? We should wait for prices to go down further ?

Countries are going to compete more and more as they know Blockchain is embracing the world with disruptive features. In order to be in the competition and win the Blockchain race, countries are getting more and more serious on considering switching to adopt Blockchain on every industries.
True.
Maduro is trying to curb the crypto mining raids to his favor with the release of those petrol coins he is toting as the currency killer for his own countries currency the bolivar.
So these world power leaders like him and Putin are just in it for the bottom line
To get their own country  ahead of the race to whom will win in the cryptocurrency wars.

I don't like Putin and I don't believe him. In development Russia lags behind most countries for several decades. So I think it won't be this year or next year.

Russia and China and a few other countries I can't be bothered to list, are so erratic in their decision making and regulation that it's so hard to take their word at face value, they seem to change their minds on the flip of a coin and don't have any real decision making processes in place. While it's good news, it will probably be the opposite in just a month.

Vladimir wants to embrace technology and he wants it as as fast it can that's why he wants his country to be more transparent . Howerver in other countries they are strict to implement tokens.

This is great  Smiley Here I already see russian community is very big, both investors, bounty hunters etc enjoy this technology. This is the technology of the future, no country should miss it.
While no country should miss it, no country should also be in charge of it...that defeats the purpose of a decentralized blockchain *facepalm*

Old news guys. Putin already gave the rap to his central bank head last year for being harsh on crypto. Putin's not an idiot, whatever people may think. He may not want to give freedom to crypto but he knows if he bans it, it'll just go underground. Russia already has earmarked industrial regions with nuclear power, by the way, for mining crypto companies. Soon, it will be the cheapest electricity anywhere in Europe.

Putin is very bullish on blockchain technology, possibly also cryptocurrencies (not confirmed though) after Herman Gref calls for legislation of cryptocurrencies  Shocked

Russia, as always, can finish in its uncertainty. It is already considered a lagging country for 20-40 years in many areas. And now his machinations can remain in a deep place...

The thing with Russia is that they change their stance on crypto every so often, and those are not cosmetic changes but they reverse it 180 degrees and then again and again every once in a while. So if the news is from July now the situation may well be the opposite.

Haha, Putin has already lost this race. Funny man. Anything that can be used to hack the rest of the world is of great interest to Putin, no?

Ok, jokes aside. I think it's great that a Country Leader is praising the merits of Bitcoin. Now, will the rest of the world agree with him or use the fact that he has strained relations with many as a reason to disagree with anything he supports?

I don't know what use he's finding for the blockchain though. I'd love to know what the end-game is for the blockchain in Russia, but I can't think of anything that would make their stance on it make sense. It's not like they need the control, nor do they need the technology for a lot of the things they do within their country currently.

Anyone know what's going on that's making them try to push for the blockchain becoming commonplace? Cause I really seem to be in the dark for what they want to do.

Very good news, I don't like Putin much, but he has clear opinion about crypto and that I admire - all other big countries should take Putin as example - mainly leaders of China and India. Hopefully it will affect the market a little.

this is totally very important news and it should power up the market and pump the price of bitcoin. We can all see that we are in a very strong bearish market, even such an important message from one of the most important men in the world does not affect the market.
I believe once the bears are exhausted we will have a massive increase in the price of all coins. I guess all other country presidents will make similar announcements this year. We saw Venezuela, maybe Turkey is the next.

Russia's stance on cryptocurrencies has been very contradictory so far. The ministers that make public announcements say completely opposite things one day after the other, so in my opinion even statements coming from official figures within the Russian government should be taken with a grain of salt. We have to wait some more until the Russian government makes up its mind once and for all.
