i recomend momentovps.com

I second this.  Outstanding support (literally a response in 10 mins every time I need help with something), fast machines, SSD hard drive, and a great price.  I have 2 VPS's with momento and I love them.

P.S. I'm not affiliated with momentovps in any way, I'm just a satisfied customer

I get much worse download rates (50bps) with momentovps' test file than MrGaSp's (600kbps).

You should definitely try that again, 50 bits per second from a 1 gbps server is absolutely not typical.

http://ns228969.ovh.net/test.bin

Here's some proof:

And this was even after some waiting to let the speeds leverage out. The download from MrGaSp's server speeds even started at ~3 mB/s, and slowly descended down to 2, then 1, then stayed at the speed above. Note that I started MrGaSp's download about half a minute after I started the download from MomentoVPS' servers though. And note that though the two downloads might 'attack each other for air', the speeds for the MomentoVPS downloads were about the same even before I started the download from MrGaSp's server.

Maybe its your location?

Most probably is, but that doesn't make the fact that I get faster speeds with your server any less true  Wink

It's almost certainly a quirk of your location.

MrGaSp is in oregon, my servers are in france.  Transatlantic bandwidth can be ridiculously slow at times.

Much worse if you're in asia where packets are routed through the us over two transcontinental fiber runs.

MrGaSp offers an awesome VPS at awesome prices! https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/vps-squared-virtual-powerful-supported-vpss-61573  Smiley
Though it is manual activation and there's no web-based control panel (I think one's in development, though!), the customer service is awesome and you can usually get responses in less than half a day!

Thank you  Cheesy

Plans starting at 0.20 BTC for 350MB of RAM, 0.5BTC for 512.. Check the thread.  Smiley

I have to defend you on that one, I got a consistent 264KB/s from a 1MB+ connection

I am really surprised that there aren't any other options for this. We basically have cinfu - pretty unknown until they started accepting bitcoins - and kalyhost which is also ran by tibanne. I think that VPS is a service that a lot of people would want to pay with bitcoins...
there are other options, check the Trade page.
the OP asked for recommendations, not for a comprehensive list

just signed up to a bunch of VPSs a couple of days ago

-bitcoinvps.net
entire site broken. checkout fails.. logging into sys to pay invoice fails. avoided
???no idea where located

-frozenonline.com
cheapest, but have to contact sales. took a day for a reply, then another 2 days after payment to set it up
problem: no ssh. wtf? gave me a vnc address to log into. apparently have to set up SSH I'll check it out later
slightly huge problem: client login area doesn't have SSL... not even a self signed cert. derrp
us servers

-cinfu
fastest set up even faster than autovps
only bitch is that they automatically install apache2 and some other shit you have to remove because nobody in their right mind runs apache when you can custom make nginx but no big deal
uk servers

-autovps.net (same as kalyhost)
most expensive but probably the fastest/best. doesn't install any extra bullshit. O/S outdated, no squeeze and good luck manually updating your VPS to squeeze without breaking everything so went with CentOS instead of dreaded lenny. servers in germany

EDIT
Other providers that take bitcoin you should update the wiki @ bitcoin.it

EDIT #2
Decided my 512 frozenonline VPS is useless to me. If anybody wants it (free) it's all yours.. just paid and good for 1 month

With all those problems you had, see you should have tried ours Wink

Well... I have experience only with BAD VPS provider. bitcoinvps.net

This is email I have sent them on Sep. 24:

Quote
Please forward to appropriate department.

There is blank page on checkout.
Cannot display / pay invoice.
While trying several times, two identical invoices showed up in my account (#42, #43) 1.26 BTC each.
Also cannot open ticket in client area. (No departments available)
I was unable to send you this message via contact form on your webpage.
Not even mentioning that you have just sent me my password in plaintext. (I hope you are storing it salt-hashed in database)

Are you really doing business since 2008?

No answer from them yet
