I've seen alot of threads about Ethereum/Monero/Dash, but what do you guys think about Litecoin? Is it a sleeping giant? Maybe once the Bitcoin halving occurs and the price shoots up, Litecoin will follow. Please leave your thoughts/predictions below.  Smiley

In litecoin algorithm has one fundamental feature that has long-term upward pressure on the value .This feature is that approximately every four years or every 840 000 units for the LTC generated by an award for miners block is reduced by 2 times. That, as we know from economic policy leads to an increase in the cost of production and ultimately increase the cost of the final product cost.

Always think Litecoin still has a lot to offer they are backed by chinese traders and they love litecoin and beside they have been one of the most established crytpto-currency around in the past 3 years why lose our confidence on it..

I've said lots what do you expect from a coin guys ? APP's ? LOL
Flashing colors and loud noises ?
Jiggle some keys ?

Like fuck guys come on..
It's a currency so does it work like one ?
So go use it then.. which is part of the adoption process.

I am soooo tired of idiots saying a coin sucks because it has no development plan.
Does it work ?

Why is it some mass rule you all have that a coin must be in a permanent state of development ?
That is stupid !
If it's broke then fix it otherwise leave it alone.

And so are all the guys who actually said to me XYZ coin sucks because it's boring..
Yeah TONS of you have said that.  Roll Eyes

This is a problem having little kids with ADD looking for profits.
They want a ponzi token that keeps moving.. to make money from.
What they are not looking for is a currency that simply works and is ready to use NOW !

Yes, and all of these altcoins are pure tools of speculation.

As is Bitcoin itself, but it's not doing a very good job at the moment.

Ltc on gox?   Huh

I like litecoin  Smiley it's not very innovative but I see it as a legit competitor for bitcoin.
It puts pressure on bitcoin to find a scaling solution. I see litecoin scaling four times faster than bitcoin, when you ignore bandwidth.

I would guess that good old speculation aside, the present alt bonkersdom is based on predicted future utility. It's over a couple of years since the last one and look how much more has been learnt and how much more interest there is from businesess, governments etc.

That's where major explosions are likely to be born. While I'm not educated or sold on ETH and friends, speculators are going to follow the potential and LTC doesn't have much of it right now. I'm sure there's room for LTC to rise but if you're looking for a buck there are far sexier prospects in the short term.
Yes, and all of these altcoins are pure tools of speculation.  Litecoin gets used, like doge gets used, and Dash to some extent.  But most altcoins are for trading and to store value in.  Don't know if ltc has a future.  Probably not.

I have never understood Litecoin.  It is a 4 times bigger and faster than bitcoin, but as an alt it isn't traded as much or as safe.
It offers basically nothing over bitcoin.  Other alts have advantages (and disadvantages) but usually have something different to bitcoin.

Litecoin has 4 times more coins and is 4 times faster.

LTC is still good opportunity. I cannot find either one reason why not to invest in this?
But when i'm thinking about ICO IPO, i don't need hard proofs for scam.
Just because it is not popular at the moment, doesn't mean this is bad coin.

If Litecoin implemented anonimity and instant transaction it would be a Bitcoin killer. Development stopped - Litecoin dead.

Talk about bullshit hahhahaha

If Litecoin adopted less anonymity it would be a Bitcoin competitor (more so than already)

Anon coins are a bad idea.
Pushing to make them as Anon as possible is counter-productive.
A variety of factors contribute to this..
DO i have to re type out the same long winded rants explaining then get bitched at for doing it ?
I created a topic on this that none of you care about.

Development stopped ?
Ok when was the last commit ? Do you know ?

Can you guys be honest around here for once please ?

The currency can gain a lot of value if they get accepted into larger businesses and the possibility of bitcoin & litecoin is by far the maximum among all coins.

buying Litecoin might end up being a good trade at some point?
well, Ten years from now it would at least be much more worthy than today cause all these good functioning coins are a lot undervalued as of now.

bitcoin will remain strong because it is the second, like doge is the best meme coin, but aside from the pump and dump that will happen on each halving i can not see much developments on it
it's useful to remember that ltitecoin has a nice thing about the block limit for the capacity issue, that bitcoin suffer

Lots of good things in store for Litecoin. You can check out development plans for 2016 at link supplied below.

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features currently being developed look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3z2ta1/ama_official_litecoin_developers_and_litecoin/
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value.

They need to rebrand Litecoin to appeal to the proper crowd..
Foreigners from 3rd world countries who come to Crypto to profit big lambo's !
..and get their first pair of shoes (yes shoe ownership is a BIG deal in some parts of the world)

So..

Rebrand Litecoin to get your "First Pair of Shoes Coin" ..shoe ownership has responsibilities though !

Here is LTC's new Coin Icon..
