Topic: Waiting forever on Amazon stock of 1070ti. Awful! (Read 749 times)

Anyone have an opinion on 1070ti vs 1080?  I am waiting on the 1070ti prices to come back down because I have read they consume less power than the 1080, and for the increase in hashrate you would get with the 1080, the power consumption makes it a wash.

1070 ti and 1080 at their most efficient point (around 104 watts) tend to have better hashrate out of the 1070 ti *BUT* I do have a couple cases where the hashrate is the SAME (Zotac Mini, EVGA SC).

1080 tends to want less +core and usually doesn't handle as much +ram before it goes unstable.

Down side, at NORMAL pricing the 1080 was around 10% more expensive for "same model" cards.

Amazon has been running a "cloud" service for many years - and no, it's NOT profitable to use it to mine with even if you don't get caught doing so (it's a violation of TOS to mine on their servers due to the "excessive load" mining puts on them).

I've been waiting for my god damn Zotac minis ($459) since 12 Jan with Amazon. And guess what! 3 weeks ago they removed the estimated delivery date!

at least they kept your order and didn't cancel and say you can trying buying again at the new higher price like some places.

I have been waiting for a few months for these to come down in price. Everything is sooo expensive it feels like they are playing games with us and how they are holding back selling these cards.

Bitcoin FTW!
Has anyone received the promised cards from the Amazon, or everyone still waiting?
I've pre-ordered several other mining-related things besides cards from Amazon recently and they mostly shipped around their estimated dates. Amazon's usually pretty good with preorders unless they're very heavily backordered like with Vega a while back.

I've pre-ordered from them before and they showed up.

Someone should "include installation" and have amazon send some guy to build your mining rig.

Lol ... That would be funny.

Never heard of them.  Can't seem to find out much about them either.

I paid 589 for a 1070ti a week ago on newegg.  Now, they are mostly listing regular 1070s at 689 or 699.  and tis for 719.  There is, however, an occasional listing of a ti for 569 but they are always in stock on the site but out of stock once you add it to the cart.

Newegg, BHphoto, microcenter all have them.

None of these places have any in stock unless you are talking about the resellers asking for 1k and up.  There are zero in stock across all the major distributors. Dont just tout random places. There is shortage and I wouldnt expect any to be available for a few weeks, and if they do they will sell out in under a hour like the last batch 3 days ago on Newegg.

Im not "touting" random places. I literally just bought from all three.

Newegg has been completely out of 1070 ti cards other than "massive markup reseller stock" far more of the time than not since the holidays.

SOMETIMES you can sneak an order in right after they get a restock on a specific card though - like the MSI I just received yesterday.

I've had more than a few notifications that by the time I saw the notification the card had already sold out again the last couple weeks.
I've pretty much given up on asking for notifications at this point.

There is a lot of demand for gpu's due to which the cards get sold out quick and it takes time to restock.

No shit?  Lol.  We have a fucking genius in the house.

Ordered 5 1070ti on Amazon 449$ each. Awesome price in today’s market EXCEPT they may never show up!
How long are you waiting for? I have the same situation. I asked Amazon, but there is no ETA.

Weird. I on the other hand was told that the 1070 TI would arrive anytime within 1-2 months. When I asked for a more specific timeline they said anytime between Feb. 1-26.
Considering worst case scenario, Feb. 26 which is more than a month from now is a long time in mining. You would have already earned much by picking another GPU available today and already mining with it.

This is why mining sometimes takes a backseat to buying coins. When the market is calm and cards are readily available people who mine have the safety hedge of having their hardware value.

I bought a boatload of ETH in December knowing full well my farm would never be able to mine that much even in 3 years of future mining, let alone ETH going POS soon.

When card prices become insane it's important to step back and look at things rationally instead of with exubarance. It's like getting into a bidding war for a house in a heated market - don't buy with emotion (greed in this case).

2018 could very easily repeat 2014 again. Sure everybody says "there's no way I would ever sell my crypto for a loss" - they said the same in 2014. Let a coin go down 80% and people panic and get out.
