OK, APNGs are now detected. Old ones are grandfathered for now, in part because people have ongoing campaigns, but in the future I might (or might not) go through and remove them.

i had avatars disabled too as i hated the animated ones. i like static pages, moving stuff is distracting. but now i just have animated gifs set to not play in firefox and leave the avatars on so they display as static images only.. mainly so i dont miss the hats
