Why not just get a Trezor for about twice the cost?

Can you download Coinomi, Bither and Bitpie and then claim your forks on a Trezor?

SatoshiLabs has to first add Trezor support for the new forked coins, as they have with past forks such as BCash and BitcoinGold. But once they have done that, you should be able to claim and send your forked coins anywhere you wish.

They have rules around what Bitcoin forks they will support though:

Give me an example where that is relevant to cryptocurrencies.
An actual example where something happened to that persons cryptos because of those viruses, not any made
up theorthical "this or that might happen if the moon is partially clouded while you accidentally walk backwards while seeing a stray cat hunting,"

Do you want to store private keys, and/or enter passwords on a compromised device which may have a keylogger etc?

I would, at the very least, want to make sure I could flash this device with LineageOS or something, though this would not mitagate every single OpSec issue...

And there was the "walking backwards", now give me an example.

Just going through all the shitfork coins to see if I can increase my BTC stash.
Looks like the majority of them can't be exchanged on any exchanges due to various reasons (non functioning wallets etc).
Does anyone have a list of which coins are actively trading and can be deposited at which exchange?
Would be much appreciated.

Yes please that’d be great. I don’t have an android phone so I haven’t been able to claim my bitcoin gold still through the Coinimi wallet.

You can get a brand new android phone from China on ebay for 40 bucks and free shipping, I just bought one to keep my free coins in. Will start to claim after Bitcoin Atom's snapshot on 25/26 this month.

Be careful of cheap android phones from ebay and amazon. Some of them have viruses installed on them by the manufacturers themselves, or along the supply chain.

The last thing you want your smartphone doing is sending your text messages, contacts, and location history to a server in China. But according to mobile security firm Kryptowire, a particularly nasty brand of Android software did just that, transmitting text, data, call, location, and app data to a Chinese server every 72 hours.

Researchers began to raise red flags last fall, when it was discovered the the data mining tool in question — called Adups — had been living inside hundreds of millions of devices produced by more than 40 manufacturers

There are other viruses pre-installed in some android phones besides the one in that story.

So what?

Take with a grain of salt.

I'm sure as an investment their rating system will give Bitcoin a C- or D, everything else will get an F.

And the market analysts will say, "See? Told ya so." and pat themselves on the back.

https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@emmalore/bitcoin-weiss-ratings-raport

I think I called it. They gave it a C+.  Tongue  Roll Eyes

https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@emmalore/bitcoin-weiss-ratings-raport

And I think the ETH rating is garbage. They're just pushing people to a pre-mined and elite controlled crapcoin.

I have to suggest that it is not a good idea to use a china no-brand android phone for anything crypto related. Most of those phones have customized firmware that is not subjected to as strong scrutinity as well-known brands/models.

I hear people say that all the time, "they have viruses", "they report to a Chinese database" and so on.
But no one ever explains how that is related to crypto, and I have never heard of one single example of someone loosing their money to a Chinese database through a built in virus or software.
Yes, they might track my position, so what? I'm only using free wifi from a local store. They might keep track of my contacts and apps, good luck, I have no contacts or apps on that phone, I don't even have a phone number on that phone. I have nothing but three cryptocurrency apps.
Stop being so scared of everything.

...god dammit... 2 months mining at slush only to not notice my payout address had been changed. https://blockchain.info/address/19o83nfBL3GTWzqXe4hXpggsHJjfhFEZsB that 0.00090136 was mine dang it!

remember everyone, turn on 2 factor authentication whenever possible and have secure passwords!

How do you think they did it?

checked activity on the site... they track changes and such. saw a bunch of log ins from the same IP lining up with my activity, then around thanksgiving a single login and payout address change from a different one. probably guessed my password or found my data in some hacker list and tried the few (dumb me) different ones i used to use. really need to set up a last pass or something... oh well. only ten bucks, right?

until the price changes... argh.

Who rates the ratings agencies?

Quote
On June 22, 2006, the Commission instituted settled administrative proceedings against Weiss Research, Inc., Martin Weiss, and Lawrence Edelson (collectively, “Respondents”) for violations of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 in connection with their operation of an unregistered investment adviser and the production and distribution of materially false and misleading marketing materials.

https://money.stackexchange.com/questions/14570/is-weiss-research-inc-a-legitimate-financial-research-company

The fact that they purport of be able to rate blockchains is utterly ridiculous. What do they know about blockchains??

Agreed.  This is the reason I would not be surprised to see Ripple highly rated.  The true value of crypto is EXTREMELY counter-intuitive to the status quo.  For example the more decentralized one is the more we hear the Dimon types making "No government controls it!!  No one knows who is controlling it!!" type statements.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised by a set of knowledgeable reports...  but I doubt it HIGHLY.

And I feel that even though we might take all this with a grain of salt the establishment will not.

B for Eth and C+ for BTC !? ok, whatever.
paid fud^ Wink  ... umm C++ ? :-D haha

"Bitcoin (rated C+) gets excellent scores for security and widespread adoption. But it is encountering major network bottlenecks, causing delays and high transactions costs. Despite intense ongoing efforts that are achieving some initial success, Bitcoin has no immediate mechanism for promptly upgrading its software code."
Bold text is enough for me. Even if we don't need no rating agency to tell us that since Bitcoin is like that by DESIGN!
