Got to know about bitcoin when I started to look into forex. A while later bought 1 at around $300. A while later gambled with it and made another 0.5 BTC. A while later lost all of it. A while later, recovered all of it. Decided to HODL. Had spare funds to buy another 10 BTC. Instead decided to make a term deposit (the fact that coinbase decided to re-verify my account, which took them weeks, and then setting my buy limit to $250 per week, was also the reason I went the other way). Still kept buying whatever I could with whatever spare I had left. Bought some Ethereum, Litecoin here and there. Lost the Litecoin wallet because my HDD crashed and I hadn't made a backup. Converted Ethereum to other altcoins and made some profits. Now HODLing my BTC.
Oh well, Bitcoin, and the crypto world, you have been amazing.

Ok, I actually did read the German sub forum, and I believe you, but I couldn't figure out at first why it was about a bet and not a charity.

it started as a bet. forum user elrippo posted that he bets 0.5 btc that btc would not reach €4000 within this year. I took the bet and said if I win, I would donate his 0.5 btc and my 0.5 btc to poor children for xmas. that is how it started. I am no charity, I am a private bitcointalk member. but I will stick to my word. and other forum members have donated also to that address. now its more than $80k.   Smiley

it is of course way more than enough. bitcoiners are wonderful. and crazy. I had to quit going to work for a week to be able to get the logistic challenge done. I am working on it right now. it is crazy. I just thought I let you know.

600watt, which is the current donation address? Is it too late to add, I like the idea. Also, let me know if you need some help with the whole media attention thing:

"Random bitcoin owners group to give away, and casually raise 80+k."

edit: news coverage would be great! this is different to the usual "drugs, terrorism, fraud" harp the media is playing!

The Mcafee phallus now has double the worries - https://twitter.com/officialmcafee/status/935900326007328768

Thought I still don't think he understands a great deal about it and probably spouts what Jihan or his wife tell him to spout it's still fun.

That's quite a mouth full.

Does this mean that Bitcoin is too big to fail now?

Seriously, that is some really big news.

If Pluto were a planet we'd have to set our sights on it as the next target.

Just got an email from Xapo:

Quote
Hi xxx,

As we informed you in previous communications, we are approaching the December 14th deadline in which you’ll need to convert your Bitcoin Cash (BCH) balance that was generated during the August 1st fork to BTC.

Our Terms of Use clearly state that the only digital currency supported by Xapo is Bitcoin (BTC). If you want to store, transfer and/or use any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin, you cannot do so through the Xapo Services. If, as a consequence of a “fork” (as such term is commonly known in the bitcoin industry), Bitcoin holders are granted with equivalent or proportional amount of the new digital currency or values that are not Bitcoin, Xapo shall not have any obligation, whatsoever, in connection to such new digital currency or value. Providing, however, that Xapo may grant you, at its sole discretion, a reasonable term to withdraw such digital currency or value to a third party. If you don’t withdraw the total balance of the digital currency or value within such term, Xapo reserves the right to automatically convert the total balance of such cryptocurrency into bitcoin and credit it to your Xapo Wallet.

That being said, you should know that converting your BCH to BTC is easy! Visit our FAQ section to find a step-by-step guide for how to convert your BCH.

If you want to keep your BCH, you cannot do so within Xapo, but you’ll be able to withdraw the total balance and send it to a valid external BCH address before December 14th.

Keep in mind that unless you take action by December 14th, as outlined in our Terms of Use, you’ll be allowing Xapo to automatically convert your BCH to BTC. In that case, you will see the corresponding BTC balance credited to your Xapo Main Wallet.

If you want to keep your BCH you will not be able to do so within Xapo and you will have to withdraw the total balance and send it to a valid external BCH address before December 14th.

For questions or inquiries please contact us - we will be more than happy to assist you!

Best regards,
Xapo Team

Rekt.

What is going on with bitstamp? https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitstamp/btcusd says price is $10,500 but bitstamp.net says $11,271?

This forum is broken. The exchanges are broken. Guess it really is bubble time now.

So... everybody was saying that after 10k we were headed to 12k in a few hours, but seems that we are still 11k-ish. What happened?
