So, I think that I kind of do get it, at least in terms of the reality of the various ongoing hostile attacks coming from a relatively small, deceptive and hostile camp.

If I did not know what you're talking about, I'd swear you're talking about Core.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
Yeah... who would want those incompetent self-centered nutjobs running the show ?

After all this time, you _still_ don't get it. This is Bitcoin. Permissionless. There is no 'running the show'.

yeah but the small group behind XT, Classic, BU, this BCH hardfork and future segwit2x hardfork are a lot of the same small group who do not know how to work in the existing open system.. so they whine and they engage in sabotage methods. Accordingly, they seem to be either setting up systems that are small and controllable or otherwise deficient because they are not peer reviewed on broader, critical, safeguarding and conservative levels.

So, I think that I kind of do get it, at least in terms of the reality of the various ongoing hostile attacks coming from a relatively small, deceptive and hostile camp.

How would this not devolve into yet another nation-state? The first thing you'll need is an army to defend it. Aside from obvious environmental necessity, I don't really see what's so revolutionary about recreating countries on the water.

The current approach is a phased approach instead of the whole Waterworld thing.

Phase 1:
Set up a prototype in a Special Economic Zone in a friendly nation's protected lagoon. Work on some of the engineering challenges and other things that might come up but in a protected manner.

Phase 2:
Move 12nm out to sea. This has more wave activity which needs to be factored in but gives relative freedom from most of a nation's laws (like when you're on a cruise ship and you have to wait about 30 minutes until they're 12nm away from land before they open up the casino). You are still protected by the host nation and have easy access to the resources on land.

Phase 3:
200nm out to sea. This is where the engineering has to have everything taken care of for large waves and sea activity, but you are outside of any nation's jurisdiction and can be a sovereign nation.

The Seasteading Institute and their spinoff company, Blue Frontiers, are actively in talks with French Polynesia to implement a Special Economic Zone with French Polynesia. I went down there in May and had dinner at the president's house where he gave a speech welcoming us and telling us he really wants to have seasteading flourish in French Polynesia.

I have yet to see a Klingon cry, also, you are being a dick.

Star Trek TNG - Sins of the Father @ 48:55, I'm pretty sure Kurn is crying or at least fighting back tears (definitely wincing) as he is urged by his own brother (Worf) to ostracise him (Worf).  It was a very emotional episode; good camaraderie between Worf and Captain Picard.

About seasteading, my fear is if a Tsunami approaches. What kind of protection would it have?

For a Tsunami, the safest place would be a seastead. Do you worry about homes on the coast due to tsunamis? Because that's who is affected. Out in the ocean the seastead just goes up and down.

Thank you, that's very informative. I ignored the waves would be so low out in the ocean.

I share your frustration, really I do, I commented above that I was struggling with my patience, but please consider how your comments appear to folks on the fence on a public forum.

something something, honey, vinegar, something something, hearts and minds, something something

I can agree with you I overreacted somewhat.
It's just that when someone uses words like "fascist" everything else rolls over my mind.
These people cannot look ahead and see what will be the world they're wishing for.
In my country we had some months ago a case where a Labor's Party MP daughter had some pics leaked on the web. The girl (a teenager) was naked, awfully skinny (bulimia), smoking a joint and blowing the smoke in a dog's face. Immediately people on internet started comparing her situation with the sons of another MP, Christian conservative right-oriented, whose 3 sons are: 1- Federal Policeman (and lawyer) and is also a MP, 2- Entrepreneur and Business Man (owns a Kopenhagen chocolate franchising), 3- Lawyer and has a political position also.
Needless to say the Labor party MP spends largest part of her speeches calling the Christian conservative right-oriented MP a ~fascist~ because of his values.

EDIT: in case somebody is curious about the characters described: https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--FQP7z1keC0/WK5KNJC9u-I/AAAAAAABywE/Kc6PAfX1cZgitQqAh1KKv4Z39CrEvMHIACLcB/s1600/Filhos%2B%2526%2Bfilha.jpg
EDIT 2: Removed the image, left only the link. Image is kinda nsfw.

Thai justice is brutal. Who wants to be that snowbird sitting in a Thai jail for smoking a joint or calling the king a cock. Land of smiles, indeed.

Maybe we should start a new thread about:
-Where you can live large on the cheap
-saying whatever you want
-smoke whatever you want
I think that bitcoin gentlemen would appreciate.

That is what seasteading is looking to achieve.

Maybe not so much the cheap part initially though.

Should be an announcement coming this weekend that is pretty significant.

I played that game..

All the bigblockers fanboys have been played/fooled by them only to achieve there own agenda aka; more profits/power/control.

Atleast Core works for common interest=for the people.

I'd like to see Jihan's face when setting Block #478617 with that coinbase message  Grin

You're right about Klingons, but I cannot deal with this "socialist indoctrination". She maybe doesn't even know what she's doing, it's easy to parrot what MSM preaches. I just don't swallow it very well...
This generation needs to start thinking by themselves. About the tits, that's what feminists do on demonstrations when cams are turned on.
