So, I think that I kind of do get it, at least in terms of the reality of the various ongoing hostile attacks coming from a relatively small, deceptive and hostile camp.

If I did not know what you're talking about, I'd swear you're talking about Core.

It is one thing signing some vague/ambiguous agreement or  "signaling intention" that does not mean anything, or putting some kind of BIP into place that actually causes a commitment.

Sure a lot of these groups agree about segwit, but there is little to no evidence that they actually agree to 1) increasing the blocksize limit 2x without some kind of tried and true software, 2) hardforking bitcoin or 3) changing governance.. .. so to the extent that segwit2x goes beyond mere segwit, it is fucking ass ambiguous and quite unclear who the fuck supports such.

The market seems to be siding with bitcoin at the moment, and I doubt it has to do with hardforking, or 2x increases or changes in governance, and in fact it seems likely to be optimism regarding segwit and optimism that bitcoin can withstand stupid-ass minority renegade hardfork attempts that at this point seem to be valued at about 8%?  So how the fuck do you recognize support for some contrary to bitcoin when it is only pricing at about 8% from the same nutjobs who are trying to cause some kind of big blocker change to bitcoin?  The market is not going with those nutjobs, it seems to be going with segwit et al, including core's vision of our little friend, aka bitcoin the real one.

Why so much resistance to get to 3500 USD? It's only an arbitrary number.

I don't know this either. It wouldn't seem like $3500 is that large of a psychological resistance point either. I'm going to bed tonight hoping to see $3500+ when I wake up in the morning.

I know if I sold one it would shoot up past $3500. Lol.

I rarely sell any ever but every time I have, I think the price has doubled within two weeks.

well you know what has got to be done for the good of bitcoin now....  please sacrifice one coin so we can jump over 3.5k already.  Wink

Haha, yes he should sell RIGHT NOW. The price would then double to near $7000.

For your listening pleasure, Fuck World Trade!
Hi all

So with a small amount of BTC I want to do margin trading on Bitfinex. Now Im new to trading and maybe this is not the right place for this sort of question but has anyone had any experience doing this on Bitfinex? I am slightly confused about limit stop trailing trades etc. For example I deposit 0.05 BTC into margin account and want to go LONG on BTC so I buy 0.15 BTC worth using margin trading. Now if I want to automatically hace the position closed say once the price reaches a certain target how would I do this? Also is it possible to have a sell price set should the price start to go down and thus protecting me from too much losses. You know before margin account gets liquidated and I lose the 0.05 BTC.

Sorry if this is not the right place for this question. Then again this is more BTC related than some discussions on politics and metals. Not that I dont enjoy those I think it is a good part of the conversation as long as BTC is the main subject but I know some of you people dont like anything off-topic... including trading I guess.

Either way any input is much appreciated.

I'm still waiting for my bank transfer to be credited on my exchange account. Once this is done today and respective quantity of bitcoins bought I'll allow it to go higher.

Yeah... who would want those incompetent self-centered nutjobs running the show ?

After all this time, you _still_ don't get it. This is Bitcoin. Permissionless. There is no 'running the show'.

yeah but the small group behind XT, Classic, BU, this BCH hardfork and future segwit2x hardfork are a lot of the same small group who do not know how to work in the existing open system.. so they whine and they engage in sabotage methods. Accordingly, they seem to be either setting up systems that are small and controllable or otherwise deficient because they are not peer reviewed on broader, critical, safeguarding and conservative levels.

So, I think that I kind of do get it, at least in terms of the reality of the various ongoing hostile attacks coming from a relatively small, deceptive and hostile camp.

How would this not devolve into yet another nation-state? The first thing you'll need is an army to defend it. Aside from obvious environmental necessity, I don't really see what's so revolutionary about recreating countries on the water.

The current approach is a phased approach instead of the whole Waterworld thing.

Phase 1:
Set up a prototype in a Special Economic Zone in a friendly nation's protected lagoon. Work on some of the engineering challenges and other things that might come up but in a protected manner.

Phase 2:
Move 12nm out to sea. This has more wave activity which needs to be factored in but gives relative freedom from most of a nation's laws (like when you're on a cruise ship and you have to wait about 30 minutes until they're 12nm away from land before they open up the casino). You are still protected by the host nation and have easy access to the resources on land.

Phase 3:
200nm out to sea. This is where the engineering has to have everything taken care of for large waves and sea activity, but you are outside of any nation's jurisdiction and can be a sovereign nation.

The Seasteading Institute and their spinoff company, Blue Frontiers, are actively in talks with French Polynesia to implement a Special Economic Zone with French Polynesia. I went down there in May and had dinner at the president's house where he gave a speech welcoming us and telling us he really wants to have seasteading flourish in French Polynesia.

@deepcolderwallet

I have yet to see a Klingon cry, also, you are being a dick.

Star Trek TNG - Sins of the Father @ 48:55, I'm pretty sure Kurn is crying or at least fighting back tears (definitely wincing) as he is urged by his own brother (Worf) to ostracise him (Worf).  It was a very emotional episode; good camaraderie between Worf and Captain Picard.
