The thing to remember is, we are not in control. All the Average Joe bitcoiners around the world are not in control of this market.

The wealthy traders with deep pockets and leverage are in control.  We're just along for the ride.

Who cares as long as us average joe's are making 400-500% profits & more. Loads of us loaded up @ $200-400 & HODLED. It's the best investment I've ever made.

Well, it looks like we are back on track. Litecoin is also doing great and Monero and ETC recovering.

I am happy Smiley

It is crazy how these little alts I bought now factor into my price checks.

I even check on PPC which I bought just because I had some money left on btc-e

Yes, it is really funny. I started playing with alts only a couple of months ago because I like to trade and Bitcoin was stagnating at that moment. Had some fiat on my trading account and started "gambling". It was a small amount, like 5% of my trading funds (which is less than 40% of my long term holding on cold wallet) and it has grown now to more than 30% of my trading funds even if Bitcoin has also risen in the meantime.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to put too much into alts instead of Bitcoin (much more safe long term in my view), but I have to recognise that the gambling has paid well.

I also believe that soon many alts that are way overpriced will start bleeding big time serving as fuel for a crazy Bitcoin rally.

I still think it's amazing that Altcoiner shills still spam and wreak havoc upon threads like this one. Now GTFO.

So why give it more airtime by quoting the guy... sheesh!?!

Buy the fucking dip! Smiley

This works every time.

except when the dips are so small that barely can be recognized as true dips when you look at the charts

like right now for example

last "dip" was around 1670 and cannot even be seen without a microscope in the 2h char

On bitstamp the 12 hour high was $1760 and the 12 hour low was $1661. That's $99 profit for selling at the top  then buying the dip. Zooming out and looking at the 12 hour chart rather than the 2 hour chart shows a true dip, unless you mean a 50% crash when you say a dip. I interpret a dip as a small healthy correction on the way up.

at this point the dip may very well be way above the current price. There has been no significant dip between $1600 and $1680, for example

also the crashes are short lived, usually don't last more than a couple hours, so unless you stare the graphs all day, chances are won't be able to buy the dip, and is really harder to hit exactly the bottom

one way or another, $99 is less than 6% of current price, more like noise than a significant move

Got a FOMO attack and rebought everything I'd sold @ 1200 following Afrikoin's advice.
Who remembers?
Now I have 40% less coins, thanks to that stupid belief.
Lesson learned, page turned, now I'm on JimboToronto train. No matter the price, I'll take every chance to buy. Every month if I can...
Back to HODLrs team and I'll honor my nickname.

Who are you going to blame but yourself? It's your fault for letting anyone think for you.
It is normal among bitcoiners that they sometimes lack the confidence and trust in BTC.
I wanted to sell large portion of my small BTC stash many times when I thought we hit a wall with progress/adoption/price.
After couple years and in retrospection, I analyzed BTC exchange activity and I learned that selling BTC is the most stupid thing you can do.
If you don't need hard cash here and now, keep your BTC intact, it will be worth 10x more in the future.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
Oh no. My bitcoins are only worth what thy were worth yesterday earlier today.

 Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin Cool

These prices continue to defy logic, to some extent - I mean the numbers continue to be much more bullish than expected, and even the dips are bullish - providing little opportunity to feel as if you are getting bargain basement prices...

Very similar upwards has been happening since $890 - in other words, continuing to go up without any real meaningful correction... - so how long is she gonna go before getting a meaningful correction?

At this point, I am thinking if the meaningful correction does not happen now - or at least below $1760, then there is one more chance for a meaningful correction in the pre-$1900 arena.. If we get passed $1,900 in the coming week or so, then it is likely that we would not see any kind of meaningful correction until the $2,300 to $2,500 arena , or even higher.  Am I wrong?

Why are you asking anyone opinion? Thought you knew everything...  Grin

Look Btc going over 5k$ in 2018

It's not a crime to sell so everyone should do what they think is best and enjoy the ride

It is called attempting to have a dialogue about price speculation based on logic and facts.. and attempting to predict.

Some logic and predictions seem to be more reasonable than others.

I get the sense that $5k would be the top of the range of the rise to $3k to $5k - and that could happen in 2017 or 2018 or later.. and going beyond $5k would either be an overshoot or maybe a product of the next hype cycle, which could take a little bit longer - but bitcoin does continue to defy logic, too, so it is possible that $5k or beyond could come sooner than previously anticipated.

Gosh!!!!

You are continuing with your manipulation theory.

Yes, I agree that manipulators have more control than the average Joe, but what happens is that they can only manipulate so much, and at certain points they lose control.

For example,  they lost control at $500.  They really would have preferred for prices to remain below $500, easier to manipulate... The manipulators lost that battle.

Of course, I could go on and on about examples, yet the truth of the matter is that average Joes, like us, have some difficulties knowing exactly each of the points that the manipulators are losing control or that they have lost control - but sometimes we can look at the situation in retrospect and identify various points in which such loss of control has happened.

The other fact of the matter is that Manipulators do much better with a smaller market cap, so they tend to attempt to manipulate down rather than up... what the fuck manipulator would want prices in the $1700s right now, when we were in the sub $1200s... so they lost control at $1200 as well (maybe merely temporary, but part of the point is that sometimes the manipulators are limited in their abilities to manipulate, and they do not always get their way.. especially with something like bitcoin that is gaining a lot of networking effects that continue to put a lot of upwards pressures on price that make it much more difficult to manipulate prices )

I want to see some  beastly wall to reassure me that ancient whale manipulators still exist...

...or was it always just a ghost whale?

I think it was mostly early adopters with more bitcoins than common sense trading experience.

/me HODL since $80. Except for that stupid SATA controller. When Newegg started accepting BTC, I was happy! I Can Buy Stuff.

In retrospect, it's starting to look like a microscopic version of the 10,000 BTC pizza.

Hey bro, thanks for sharing this thread's link. I already heard of this pizza trade here in Brasil like an urban legend, but now it seems so real to read it! I got a little emotional about all this. Feels like, even 6-7 years later we're still making history here.
A few months ago I was talking about bitcoin at my workplace, telling people how I managed to create a DIY hardware wallet just like i told @bitserve here in this thread yesterday and my colleagues were very skeptic about bitcoin. My boss even told me back there it was a ponzi scheme. I kinda got angry but realised it was useless to argue.
Last week the same boss came talking more interested, pretending he never called bitcoin a ponzi, and told me it was very expensive to buy nowadays. Knowing him as I do, I know something changed. I just left people aware this is something. People are starting to really look at bitcoin as a value storage, free from taxes, enable to be used anywhere in this world. I feel happy I'm helping bitcoin to grow here in this God-forsaken third world. We just got a president impeached last year and everybody fears future. We fear becoming another Venezuela.
That's where bitcoin helps us. That's bitcoin role in a free world. I also appreciate @roach's opinion, because I think that in a SHTF situation bitcoin is worthless, but I'm kinda skeptic about this severity. I fear an economic collapse, but not THAT severe to shut down internet and everything else. Anyway his opinion is valuable.

Thank you guys for every comment and tip. I'm just a third world family man trying to raise 2 kids and saving in bitcoin for their college. Even after being reckt by Africoin's irresponsibility and my own lack of good sense, I'm still here believing and fighting for bitcoin. Everything you guys write here is valuable and I hope you're aware we're still making history. Bitcoin will eventually take over the world.
