any other UKers here holding their breath for ~$1230 when we finally hit £1000? that is gonna be when my head explodes.

Yep - one here Spooder. That would be fantastic.

The crazy thing is, I've tried to explain bitcoin to quite a few people over the last few years. Some have nodded approvingly - but most have been sceptical. But none that I know of have acquired any BTC. I'm watching this rise on my own (so to speak)

The one I'm waiting for is $1163 on stamp. And I'm starting to think I might see it before 23:59 GMT.

I have spent so much time watching the price over the festive period its embarassing.

Where do you guys buy/sell BTC, by the way? I get paid monthly in bitcoin and since Circle shut down BTC sells I have to resort to Coinfloor. It's not bad but still a hassle and you get spanked on withdrawals, of course.
You could try bitbargain.co.uk
Its not an exchange more of a market and the seller fee is a little high but the margins are generally quite high so compensates for that.
All depends how many you are trying to shift.
Otherwise you could use Kraken but the GBP volume there is quite low unless you convert to Euros.

Never ending parties are what Im into.
Are we finally going to see a retrace to $1000. It would be so good to see and good to set a nice solid floor there over a few months.

I don't get why Bitstamp and and Bitfiniex keep dropping when Huobi is $100 higher and showing no signs of retracting yet.

Are we watching the power of the whale dump being eroded ? At least on Bitstamp - I don't want to contemplate a Chinese whale dump.

I find it funny there's no wall around 1163 @ Bitstamp. This could go way up.

It might still be a couple of months before this rally becomes a bubble.

Yes - I'm hoping that the top of this run is so high that the ensuing bottom is still well above the previous ATH.
Given that we still haven't reached the ATH of several years ago (on Stamp) yet then this currently has to be a long way from being a "bubble".
When I was telling Mrs.Dreamer of the recent run her enthusiasm waned as soon as she realised we hadn't even reached the previous ATH. I could have gone in to market cap etc - but, to be fair, she had a point.

$10k + - then maybe talk of a bubble - but not before.

Just now we are looking at organic growth. I personally am amazed it was so low for so long.

Small correction incoming by the looks of it, will be interesting to see how much support holds in the next hour or two.

You're never too old to think young.
This reminds me of winter 2013 during the run up from $10 through the years-old ATH at $33 on its way to $266, going up almost daily with minor corrections along the way and doubling every month or so before finally skyrocketing into a bubble and popping.

It might still be a couple of months before this rally becomes a bubble.

Me too.
Got into LTC around August 2013. At one point had 3 rigs running 4X7970 then R290X. Made a tidy sum as LTC approached the dizzying hieghts of £50 a coin!
Got out of the game after about 6 months whilst the GPUs still had residual value and sold all the kit for around 60% cost price. The money I made mining during this time well exceeded the shortfall in sale price and electricity consumption.
At that point I converted to BTC (just as well as LTC started tanking soon after).
From then on I began purchasing BTC whenever the price seemed low and while I still believed that the technology would prevail.
I had some dark days and panic sold on some occasions but soon bought back when I saw things began to pick up.
At one point I remember thinking that I would hold out even if it went to zero since cashing out at that time wouldn't really produce anything worthwhile and I didn't need the money at that time.
Boy am I glad I HODLed!!!!
I am almost peeing myself watching my savings increase so rapidly.
I have since learnt to sell in small amounts on the way up at increments of around 8 to 10% and to buy back the same amount when price drops between 8 and 10%.
I am loving BTC at the moment ;-)

hats off to you! you did very well. i bought some litecoin in 2013 as well, i can't even remember what i did with them. what is the dollar value now?

Showing as $4.41 for LTC on bitcoinwisdom

My browser keeps losing the connection to bitcoinity. It's probably overloaded with all the extra people accessing it with each $10 more up. Is anyone else having problems with it?

it's doing something weird. i have to manually refresh or i don't get updates. must be a coping mechanism to deal with all the extra load.

It's exactly the same for me, I have to refresh it every time I want to know the latest price. At least bitcointalk's holding up to all the extra load.

Bitcoinity's fast at support. There's a banner notice on it now saying "I'm aware that page is not updating for some of you, trying my best to resolve that, sorry about the issue".

It's back to working normally for me now.
