In reference to the $500 break, there is a mention of China in nearly every article. However, before that there wasn't.

It's imminent the next arrival to $600. The poll shows that most bitcoiners expect an increase to $1000 at the end of this month, and perhaps it's a good time to become optimistic despite my usual skepticism.  Grin

you know, when people are out on the streets happily roaming about wearing sunglasses and flipflops because the sky is blue, it can be hard to imagine rainfall and cold air.

EDIT: I read a lot of "I'm all in", "finally bought back today" comments here. That makes me think we could well have a sizable correction this weekend.

On the other hand: mass-media hype has just started. There's a huge delay for "normal folk" to "get in". Could have more legs, too.

Maybe both.

Where is the media hype? I don't watch TV so I legitimately don't know and would appreciate examples.

By the way, I saw this today: https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/JRCAC2XU-Predictive-Analysis-of-the-Next-Megabull-Cycle-To-the-Moon/
Bitcoin itself isn't in the mainstream news but sometimes you see something about "blockchain" and how some bankers and tech companies are integrating Ethereum or blockchain. Also if you do a search for Bitcoin news, you always see all these unanimously positive-sounding news articles about bankers, wall street, tech companies, investments, deals, and such.

I would have thought there'd have been more in the media about how much dirty coal money is taking flight from China this way, or how environmentally unsustainable the whole thing seems to be. I assume more or less equal parts corruption by the Chinese authorities and complicity by Western media.

Bitstamp has some kind of auditable system for their coins.

I believe that Coinbase is the only fully regulated exchange, but they're not really an exchange. They only do about 8,000BTC of volume per day, have a 5% spread, steep commissions, low limits, and take days to deliver your bitcoins.

Well I do hope at least that the individual countries have their version of Consumer Protection that verifies them if they have some kind of authenticity in their product. I like to increase my portfolio and it would sadden me to ask for my physical demand.
If you just want to buy Bitcoin and not daytrade it, it's a relatively low risk to just buy a Bitcoin from one of these exchanges and then withdraw it to a personal wallet as soon as possible. You only have to worry about their solvency for the duration of your 1 day of business with them.

I don't mean TV. But we see a lot of articles in "mainstream" (non-bitcoin) online news. It's still mainly (but not only) financial-bias outlets, of course. Not "the big one".

Nothing is regulated here. It's the wild wild west. You are paying a risk premium for all of this volatility.

Bitstamp recently got some kind of regulation but strangely since then nobody uses it anymore...

By regulation I mean full transparency of the exchanges and their employees! ... I want to see even if they make a backdoor deal even when they are on a toilet.

I have a very strong feeling that some exchanges don't have the coin necessary to back their transactions. Meaning I think that "The Club" can be pulling a fast one on us by creating fake and not backed supply.

Who is regulating the exchanges? ... The question being :  How does one know the exchange is not pumping fake coins backed by excess fiat? Can we have some kind of surveillance on them? Big brother style... or more than that if possible!

I thought the polls here had a history of being insanely inaccurate? Still, I guess it's gonna come at some point kinda soon.

they are often not properly posed: <100 is also <500 and <1000.
Intervals should be like: 500-600, 600-700, with extremes open like <100 and >1000.

So the current poll is actually:

> 800
700-800
600-700
520-600
480-520
450-480
420-450
< 420

Clueless!
This entire forum is utterly and thoroughly unreadable third world nonsense broken english gibberish

They spam their bullshit broken english to make a dollar a week from their sig campaign, and couldn't give a flying fuck about Bitcoin.

This is the only semi-readable thread on this entire forum.

And reddit, is well reddit.  A gigantic shithole.  When will there be a decent forum for bitcoiners?

Do you own any btc or meths?
I place my bet on meths

lol

I got a coin or two

https://imgur.com/xtctj1i

I'd gladly give away half these coins to watch every signature spam poster including Theymos get gassed.

p.s. that's an old pic I got a lot more bitcoins now.

HEY! I resemble that remark. Smiley

On a side note being a newbie in 2013 and watching BTC go from 150 on OCT 8th 2013 when I started my KNC Jupiter 550gh up to over 1000 bucks like 6-8 weeks later..(I think I ROI'd in 6 weeks? ......man that was the way this was 'supposed' to work by golly.

Such a happy newbie I was Smiley But if BTC can go irrationally down on FUD etc from the ATH the last few years...human
nature being what it is ..it SHOULD DANG IT go up for no particular reason 50% of the time on the flip side...or so it seems to me.

Would be nice to visit 1,000 usd again before NEW fud happens in BTC land due to the 'corruption' of money Sad

We will see. Smiley
