I wouldn't be surprised to see some shocking news about some core devs mysteriously  disappearing.

this has VERY often been the price to sticking to one's principles...

Even if some core members don't want a blocksize larger than 1mb, the core development plan has a Segwit rollout in a couple of months, with an effective 1.7mb (or more - depending the use) capacity.

Right now we are at 0.74mb avg blocksize, so at ~1.7mb we are looking at something like 120% upgrade (or more for certain uses) - despite the fact that current fees are still ridiculously low.

And some are like "ohh something needs to get done"....

Protip: There are empty blocks mined. Some blocks are solved within minutes of the previous one. It is virtually impossible to get 100% full average. Just the way math works.

For 100% I'd agree. For 95-97% I wouldn't. 0.74 is by no means the max it can do - for *whatever reason*. If miners choose to mine empty blocks, that's not a protocol issue.

Also, look at the chart.

Still find it funny?

With a penny in fees? Why shouldn't I?

After more than two years, I learned from this thread it temporarily can go up, down, sideways or diagonal. But inevitably it only goes into one direction permanently. So why bother short term?

UP in the long term, is not a given

if Core releases segwit and it causes 100 hard forks by accident, this could very well lead to double digits  Shocked

'Coinbase is under legal pressure to add KYC to Bitcoin itself, and they can only do that by seizing control of the protocol. They know they can't do that by making KYC the first issue, but they think they can use the block size as propaganda to pull it off.'

You're never too old to think young.
A late good morning Bitcoinland. Stayed out way too late last night and slept in by a couple of hours.

I see I might have missed a great buying opportunity by sleeping in. I'd better get going before the price goes back over $400 for good.

I didn't consider the dip from the $440 range to the $420 range be buyable. $400 certainly is.

_____

Gotta love how whenever we dip by 5% the FUDsters, anti-Bitcoin trolls and alt shills reach the frenzy point. Ooooh, it's the end of Bitcoin. Fullblocalypse is upon us. Sell everything. The sky is falling. Cluck cluck cluck.

if miners could somehow get together and bypass core devs to implement 2MB limit right NOW, price would rocket, we all know this...

at this point the biggest piece of FUD is that one group can veto changes the majority wants, and thats not supposed to be what bitcoin is all about..

bitcoin is all about the will of the majority dissolving the will of the minority.

we are not seeing this happening, so this leads me to believe bitcoins censuses mechanism is BROKEN! and so I sell.

i'm fairly certain this drop is pricing in Core/Blockstream 's hard headedness

No Adam, it's China... The bid sum / ask sum on Huobi, arguably the lead exchange, took a nosedive, and price followed.

china leads fine, but they sold probably thinking " OMG the Core devs are fucking everything up " or somthing to that effect.

I don't care what solution they agree on just get something done! hard fork whatever lol
lol true

well HOPEFULLY they can get segwit going in time

but if they either don't get it out in time or it does not effectively increase block size by much, these devs are toast!

Anyone bothered to look into that accidental HF it caused on the testnet?

... if they could code it perfectly first time around it would be done by now,
fact that they are testing it on testnet is encouraging.

honestly i hate there methods, and from the little bits i get to see and hear coming from Core, i am  100% with Coinbase

But I see little choice but to let them try and redeem themselves by smoothly rolling out segwit and then the 2MB HF later...
