and do that while maintaining the integrity of the system. Not people tinkering with an existing variable that has known tradeoffs if you set it lower or higher.
Because 1MB was not arrived at arbitrarily, but through exhaustive research and testing?
You're not saying that 1MB is simply a meaningless number Satoshi randomly selected because it was always meant to be increased long before it was reached, are you? Because that couldn't be the truth of the situation according to what blockstream says.

I don't think it's actually all that possible to run out of usernames. Not this century at least.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
Let's face it...BCT is a comedy show at times!

Numerous posts of mine have been deleted for no reason while the FUD patrol has flooded various threads!

Ask Mr Pumperitis how he was banned for standing up for a coin that he was a major coin holder of...but all is fair and why complain! It is what it is and when that happens you know you have touched a nerve and of course apply more pressure!

I think that it is good that forum administrators ban accounts that are trolling, and this thread has been a lot better in the last six months after banning Lambie and the concerted efforts to ban his various shill accounts, imitators and posters who are not providing substance buy merely trolling.

Surely, some threads are more topic specific than others, and this particular thread seems to be very tolerant of a large variety of topics, which seems fine to me, so long as the posters are not consistently trolling.

Also, in this particular thread, it seems that you can be pro or con bitcoin, pro or con big/small block and have a variety of other views and not be banned so long as you are not trolling (and even administrators seem to have quite a high level of tolerance for trollers with long standing accounts as opposed to newbie accounts that require a bit of a probationary period)...

At the moment, seems all good to me.. and I see no major censorship, as seems to be implied by several posters who are asserting their opposition to recent administrator banning actions...

Is bitcoinity working for anyone?

I tried it in a few browsers but it's not loading properly for me. It gets as far as a basic HTML page, then stops . None of the realtime prices are showing in my browser. I had to switch to bitcoinwisdom for now, but I like bitcoinity's interface better.

It's not loading properly for me either.

Also for me, waiting ...

Everything opens fine for me.

Thanks for that, which browser are you using?

I tried again in internet explorer and got this security certificate warning from it after it loaded half the page.

After I clicked the button to show content it loaded the rest of the page including the real time data feed. Now it's working normally. It still won't fully load for me in firefox or chrome.

It's all mathematics...!
The management of this forum does not seem to have the best interest of bitcoin in mind.

Is that why you're a donator?  Tongue

Warning: Confrmed Gavinista

Yes, that's why I'm phrasing it more like a hypothetical 2x - because it's not 2x in practice. In essence, a 2MB with segwit is actually >3MB without - from the numbers they are giving.

I think you are missing an important point in that segwit is not (in itself) about scaling - the 1.6x space saving is a side effect - its about removing malleability* bugs in scripts so that complex contracts ( for payment channels) will work. At present most of the script functionality has been removed/disabled due to malleability.

Thinking that segwit is part of the immediate capacity issue is wrong.  These are long term developments to support bitcoin in the future. But they are being rushed through now under the guise of 'scaling'. Dont get me wrong - I like segwit - but it needs to be introduced in the correct context, with the correct due diligence.

* but tragiically still fails to address all of them....
