...what's better
or what is worser
being a rich poor guy?
or
being a poor rich guy?...
Oh? whatever.. .. fine
Publicly lambast me!
I admit that I did not realize that there are
three options.
fmlWhy suddenly we find a new user start posting on this thread?
I did a few checks and I found those sudden members either belong to the Pakistan local board or the Bangladesh. IMO this thread is getting hacked by these guys.
Because of multiple scams from users associated with the new local boards, I think those who are active on this board should check before giving any merits. I am aware it is not an easy task.
My only intention was to prevent scammers from getting merits as this thread is one of the easiest way to gain merits.
Yeah..
that's right it is not an easy task
easier said than done.
What kinds of due diligence or otherwise changes to the merit distribution policies/practices are you proposing?
Are we going to make a list of the problematic members who are receiving? well I am not going to necessarily concede that I am going to change my current practices of sending smerits absent some kind of agreeable proposal.. or maybe some of the restrictions on smerit sending would have to be forced upon some of us (including yours truly) who are sending smerits.. because some of us might not necessarily volunteer to it.. or even consider the problem to be as BIG as other members perceive the problem to be...and it is not even a new problem.. even though yeah the merit system has ONLY been in place since early 2018.. so 5.5 years, so far.
highlighting abusive members (whether receivers or senders) seems somewhat feasible but not really feasible at the same time in terms of necessarily causing some of us (whether myself or anyone else) from actually sending smerits if we might come to different conclusions in regards to whether a smerit(s) might be sent to such perceived to be "undeserving" member, and I am not even sure if the harm is as great as you seem to be suggesting it to be.. .but hey.. there are other members in these here parts who also agree with your "concerns" about the merit farmers and believe that newbies should not be eligible to receive merits absent some higher bar levels.....and surely we might realize that this is no exclusive or elite thread, even if it is already known as the most prolific thread and also the most merit receiving thread.. and that has been known for many years (but maybe the word is getting out, right?.. right? right?) ..
...and I have reservations regarding the practicality of any of the suggestions that have been made so far.... and even suggestions that members must have a certain number of merits to post in this here thread sounds all fine and dandy in theory.. but surely problematic in practice and even problematic if any of us think about the matter beyond some kind of concerns that undeserving people (or bots) are receiving merits because they "know how to work the system," and I have my doubts that theymos would be agreeable to proposals that may well cause more costs than benefits --- in terms of stifling forum participation.. .. if some form of merit threshold or exclusivity might be what you might be considering as a possible way of dealing with the matter... because some of us who send smerits are not likely going to appreciate micro-managing attempts at our discretion, even if proposed with decently good intentions.
Another thing that members do is to publicly shame some of the posters, and sometimes that might cause them to go away or to refrain from posting or at least the level of their seeming abuse is highlighted but still does not mean that those same perceived to be abusive members might not still end up receiving merits.
