damn I wish I had fiat to put into BTC right now.  Bank fraud headlines, Nasdaq trading on the blockchain and Lawsky's filthy paws taking a dip into crypto. I am going on vacation soon, hoping I return to a barren lunar landscape...

Nope. It will be broken easily. I don't understand why people give a shit about $10 moves or even $100 moves...

$10 up on a 20x leverage @ OKcoin is a double up.

If you are stacking your leverage as in increases then it's even more.

Nope. It will be broken easily. I don't understand why people give a shit about $10 moves or even $100 moves. When we hit the ATH, it will be for a few minutes on the way to much higher. Everyone knows it. The only difference between people at this point is how much fiat we have to spend on more coins. Some of us have loaded up heavily already so we are ready for launch. The "bears" are still loading up.

"OTX" data from the GBTC quote page at OTCQX.
"FRT" data from the Freerealtime site, except those flagged (*0) and (*1) (see below).

UpS_LO = Lowest price (USD/share) in the specified day.

UpS_HI = Highest price (USD/share) in that day.

VSHR = Number of shares traded in that day.

VBTC = Number of BTC equivalent to those shares (ignoring fees) = VSHR*10.

VUSD = Trade volume in USD (sum over all trades of num of shares times price per share).

UpS = Average price in day (USD/share) = VUSD/VSHR.

UpS = Implied bitcoin price (USD/BTC) = VUSD*10/VSHR.

OBSERVATIONS:

(*0) The "FRT" price range for this entry was obtained from this post.

(*1) For 2015-05-04, the values of UpS_LO, VSHR, VUSD, and UpS could not
be determined; the value of VSHR was taken from the OTCQX page.

(*2) The summary pages at OTCQX and FreeRealTime.com say VSHR = 19894, but
adding the FreeRealTime list of trades we get 20894 (1000 more). The
VSHR value given above is the latter. There were 2 trades near the end of the
day; perhaps one was undoing the other?

An interesting detail from here

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-05-20/bank-regulator-lawsky-to-exit-with-new-york-6-billion-richer

Ben Lawsky stands down as New York's financial supernintendo

'The 45-year-old regulator plans to set up his own consulting firm in New York, advising financial institutions on matters related to technology, cybersecurity and virtual currency.'

Teensy conflict of interest there. He creates the problem and then charges for the solution.

Ok so we all get what he's doing to make money. However I think this is a very bullish development. He stepped down and is creating his own firm to handle regulation on digital currencies like bitcoin, meaning he knows bitcoin is here to stay and there is money to be made in the sector.  Lawsky talked to higher-ups and big dirty bankers and likely knows what is coming down the pipe for bitcoin from a regulation and banking perspective.  If he stepped down and decided to start a law firm that handled other financial regulations that did not include virtual currency, then that would have been a huge red flag of bad things to come for bitcoin.

agree. normally where you are the decision-maker/rule settter in a field you cannot go back into the market place eg judges cannot practice again, auditors-general cannot practice again and I think ombudmen cannot set up offering advisory etc services after they finish their term.

it is not a good look - but sadly the financial sector often seem to work by a different set of rules.

Well, Wall St. owns the SEC and appoints every U.S. Treasury Secretary so what else is new. Nothing surprising here, just business as usual.

That's how it is done. First you create a problem and then charge outlandish fees for helping you with it. Bonus points if you can surround it with rules so byzantine no sane person can navigate them.

Well what the hell is going to happen with the NY Bitlicense approval/regulation now then?
It was supposed to be very close to being granted & now Lawsky has decided to quit his post & try to get a piece of bitcoin action any way.
Any ideas on what is going to happen with the Bitlicense now anybody?
I'm slightly confused as to what happens next?

Due at the end of the month so they say. Considering how much noise he made about it, I assume he signed it off before setting off. There still seem to be plenty of gripes though. Dunno if they've been addressed.

More like 'hopefully by the end of May' is what I understood
If it is not done and dusted already (in which case why is it not announced?) I can't see how this can do anything but delay things.

Either that or it is really smelly and he has written the rule book and then walked away with a copy of it to charge for access  Undecided
