What happened to the glowing ignore button???  I have so many on ignore I can not keep up with them.  Sometimes I click unignore to see if I had ignored on accident.  If the button still glowed it could be assumed it was for good reason without having to see the garbage again.  PLEASE bring back the glowing ignore button.

It got removed with the ability to set avatars - a real shame considering the all time high number of trolls around here..

I'm all in favor of the re-institution of newbie jail. A month of posting only in the noob and off-topic sub-forums and 6 months before starting threads would seem about right.

Bringing back the colored ignore button probably wouldn't help much though. Hardcore trolls don't care. Wasn't it ElectricMucus who used to brag that "if your ignore button isn't glowing red, you're doing it wrong"?

Of bigger concern is that real trolls might ignore honest posters just to turn their ignore buttons red in an attempt to discredit them.

Just a thought.

Maybe do like I believe Fonsie suggested and have a proof of stake.  It could be done just in speculation where you have no business if you have no stake.  Enough trolls buying in to troll would surely cause a ramp up.   Grin

You're never too old to think young.

This certainly can't hurt Bitcoin adoption.

When I first tried to buy bitcoins, it was extremely difficult without using slow and expensive bank transfers to some questionable foreign fantasy-game exchange.

For most people, things have improved immeasurably but for those who live in places without BTC ATMs or exchanges with same-day fiat deposits, buying can still be slow and expensive.

This should help many people to get started.

it is just a matter of time before ripple or bitshares will replace bitcoin
there a much better coins out there than bitshit

better in which way exactly? Bitcoin is open source protocol and can be developed...also sidechains Wink...and other things...some other coins may bring some innovative things, but it doesn't mean they will be secure...More complex system you make, more difficult to make it safe from hackers...and honestly, hackers mostly care now about BTC and not other coins...which is also good indicator, that BTC is #1...i would like to see when the smartest blackhats will start to search bugs in your ripple or other coins...BTC has the hardest part from all coins and you should be thankfull it is here, because all the other coins are live or dead with bitcoin

I agree.. so many ignores and so little time Cheesy  Seems that bashing bitcoin is a full time job for some.  Wonder how much it pays?  Thinking a dollar a day will get you, your very own bitcoin basher. LOL

Now, if there could just be nice discussions on price movements.  That would be great, thanks.

I prefer it without the glowing ignore button because there are less distractions that way.

a fiat crypto-currency is not going to be different next time around as it was for the usd and euro : http://www.valuewalk.com/2015/01/swiss-bank-currency-war/
hopefully at some point men will realize that "trusting in god" for the fed to print tons of usd has been a failure .
now we supposed to trust in ripple labs to 'make money out of thin air'.

A lot of hostility on this thread. Clearly some are not fairing so well with their investments but why resort to name calling, and involving people's mothers? This thread used to be filled with intelligent people debating the future of Bitcoin, now it looks more like a highschool lunch room of testosterone filled boys arguing over a girl.

LOL

It's exactly that hostility that some of us find so hilarious.

As for being a highschool lunchroom, I see it as being more like a kindergarten sandbox.

If it wasn't for the "the best part of you ran down your mothers leg" comment I'd agree.

ah, I see that now we have a new word to spin: bear cultist. I guess someone  made that construction by anology to bitcoin cultist.

those bear cultist are just fiat lovers. and they are doing just fine.

Yea I can see they're all so rich, living the high life that they find time to post on forums.

If you invested wisely instead of flushing your money down the Bitcoin toilet, you too would have plenty of free time to post on forums.  Or do anything you want, for that matter Smiley
