Hey guys, you should take note of the fact that there has been more dumping by the Ethereum exodus wallet in the past week. That, by no means, has caused the collapse (the numbers are just insufficient to do that even if tossed all at one exchange). However, it does look like they may be trying to wind down their position which suggests two things: (a) they're scared; and (b) that sentiment, given how many overall coins they have, could severely exacerbate any coming downturn.

I mean, they unloaded 1200 coins around $400. They could be, and probably are, just stupid and panicked. But, their weak hands can make things scary pretty quickly.

Alternatively, they unleashed coins on Sept. 11 and 18th... they may be doing this weekly to cover costs for their project. If that's the case, then we have a little extra downside pressure every Thursday.

interesting, hadn't noticed the new poll. i'm in the "we need a capitulation to rally hard" camp. i've seen these slow bottom fishing expeditions before. the bounces are so weak and can never retake the lost supports. i'm not buying back in yet.

Rules not Rulers
number of transactions per day continues it's relentless march higher. Bitcoin is fulfilling its function. Cheap fast transfer of value. Still feeling bullish, will continue to hodl.

bring in ...monkey for a ... reading

Monkey is almost satisfied on the weekly chart.  I'll ask him again in the morning when the new weekly begins, if he thinks the turn is this week or next (the only serious choices he leaves open at this point).  I think his weekly opinions are more reliable during mid-week however.

Well, let's wait until mid-week then, and then we will do the opposite of whatever monkey says.. but don't tell monkey, because then s/he will start employing reverse psychology, and that would be BBBBAAAAAAADDDDD to have a monkey engaged in such tactics.   Cheesy

In your view, what metric(s) can measure bitcoin adoption?

It would help if bitcoin payment processors released monthly reports on volume processed, with at least a crude breakdown on kind of businesses served (gambling, exchanges, material goods, travel&lodging, ...).

That would give an idea if bitcoin use is increasing, but would still have some limitations, e.g.:

* it would measure bitcoins being sold for dollars to purchase, not people buying bitcoins;
* it would not include people paying with bitcoin directly to merchants that really accept bitcoin

It may also be distorted by people paying to themselves:

But that is the best data I can think of that might be available one day.

I would think there are 2 things to measure: 1. Number of users 2. Level of transaction activity

Unfortunately, there is no way we can know the exact number of users. We can look into the data from Blockchain.info though. It publishes the number of their users. The mapping is one user to one wallet. Note that one person can be multiple users. It is possible also that many of the wallets are inactive.
