What exactly is that whale on bitfinix with the 1300+ wall trying to do, keep prices down?

I am a skeptic and I'd say now is the time to buy. Although it is somewhat priced in already, GABI is supposed to begin spending starting on September 1st. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that there'd be a slew of walls keeping the price within a narrow range while not doing enough to damage the Bitcoin brand in the days leading up to the first. It's just manipulation, they want to f--- you as much as they can while they still can, and they want to buy in at as cheap a price as possible.

In the mid-term, I am much more pessimistic on the implications of increased regulation at this point. The regulators say nice things and then f--- us. They will probably do that even more as the world economy softens. Bitcoin is too transparent and too pop now for us to play down regulation. So, 2015 does not look very promising.

But right now, Jesus Christ, buy buy buy buy.

GABI wouldn't be buying in, if it was not for regulations, tho.

irony?

Irony happens. I'd rather we not have the regulation nor GABI... but it is still a short-term positive at least. I really dislike these Wall Street manipulating a--holes, though.

Also, the past few days, albeit less so today due to arbitrage and normalizing, China's prices have been running about $5 - $10 hotter than Western exchanges. China pulls the price, not the West. Ergo, I can dingo and we are about to get quite a healthy bounce in the next few days.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

As there is a good chance many of the asics are already run at a loss.

This is statement is unfounded at all. Electricity could be very cheap in some part of China

Maybe it's real but I don't buy it. Especailly as if "secret" in China, it would send out a massive heat signature and the authorities would think they are growing cannabis in those buildings.

So what? The police will just find a computer farm instead of a cannabis farm.

1.00 USD    =    6.14322 CNY

1 CNY = 0.16 cent

very low cost electricy in china is about 0.5 CNY (8 cent per KW/h)

even if the price of EQ is $2000 per TH and it the most effienet machine @ 0.7 watts per GH then it's still run at a loss and at current rates would never break even.  Even if the EQ was free, and it's the most efficient Asic available it would still only be making $12 a month by December (at current difficulty increase).   Similar conditions (only more extreme) than October last year.  BTC is very undervalued.

As for the authorities, finding such an operation I suspect the tax man might be interested, I doubt they would just walk away after finding a 1/4 of a billion $ setup.

Didn't you used to be a bear or at least frequently making bearish type comments?    Have you converted, or am I getting you mixed up with some other poster?

There was a point i thought it was game over for crypto.  around the time of the malleability and the gox balls up.  But I feel that it's moved on from there.

I certainly not bearish at the moment.

Welcome... hopefully we are going to get a rise out of this BTC thingy - magiggy in the coming months to justify your current non-bearish inclinations.

I am sure that there will be future moments that you will be able to put your bear cap back on, again.. but it would be nice to experience some price rise first, before you revert back, even if only temporarily.

Far more likely, IMHO, that GABI is trying to cap the price for a couple of days so they can generate outsized returns in September, drawing new investors to the fund.

Maybe the Winklevoss twins are selling because they know the ETF will not be approved?

Bfx and Stamp: buy or keep running away?  You are almost in a corner already.
Make up your mind.

Trust me, it's down. These walls are not fake, they really want to sell them at this price. Contemplate that for a moment.

They are a bunch of scared shitless walls that are used to attempt to manipulate prices down that is why they keep moving them for their effect.  The only way you know that they are real is if they are eaten up completely over and over, and whether they are eaten completely is going to vary based on the momentum because the downward manipulators want to achieve the most downward effect that they can muster with whatever coins they have.

Adam, are you hoping for the price to rise so that you can reduce your position?

I'm just curious, because I seem to remember that your low on fiat.  If you want to raise more fiat, you might hope for a rise.  But wouldn't that only be to sell, so you could buy back cheaper?

I am frequently puzzled by the motivations of my fellow community members.  Sorry if too personal.  I guess I am fairly price agnostic right now.  It's gonna do what it's gonna do in the short term.

I reduced my position last year. as the price was moving up i was selling 1BTC a day everyday, at one point market totally ran me over, i ended up in the hospital.

ever since i've been holding and buying back in at opportune moments ( mostly above current price ), ran out of fiat last week.... no plans on selling, not for years, hopefully never, just spending it slowly.

Whoa...sorry to hear about the hospital trip.  I try to keep up on most of this thread, but I'm sure I miss pages every day.  I did not know that whole story.  Thanks for sharing.

So up is good because you won't feel underwater.  But down is also OK because if you come into fresh fiat, you can buy.  I guess down might make you feel like you missed an opportunity?

I don't think I'm qualified to advise you on anything at all, but I personally take comfort from Buffet's words when he says, basically, you can only strike out swinging in markets.  You can't strike out looking.  Any deal that you DIDN'T do can't come back to bite you, so there is no point in regretting it.

Let's see...any more platitudes I can share?  Thinking...

Bidwall continuing to creep back. This makes no sense. The bidwall... cant be the same guy with the ask walls, because he would happily have it sold in to..

But.. whats the point of the bids, if fake, knowing that at any moment someone may panic and take it...?

I'mm track these.. (this is all the bids that keep coming up and moving, but two are never placed at once)

$502.82   814.92828467   $409,762.24

$503.44   741.03474571   $373,066.53

$503.46   949.23518500   $477,901.95

$504.35   795.27344622   $401,096.16

$504.16   813.91703336   $410,344.41

This bot man.. wtf? it doesnt make sense.
