What just happened?

Not sure if actual question but:

Guy is flashing 1.3k ask wall @ 577ish; someone decides to market order to $580, then ask wall comes back..
So hes flashing a wall to try get the price to go lower?

Yeah basically.

I bet chart buddy is gonna show an interesting chart next time, the depth is skewed like I havent seen in a while.

He brought 70 at 580 while the wall at 577 was still there.

Watch 'em scatter for the hills  Cheesy Kinda reminds me of quail hunting...
You get the dogs to shake em out of the bushes and when they scatter
those quails get slaughtered by me and my trusty shotgun "Rachel". By the
end of the day some fried quail in butter and herb sauce make for a great
meal...although spitting out buck shot ain't that great. Its fun to see these
amateurs get killed...if you can't hang with the big dogs stay on the porch.

The fundamentals of bitcoin has not changed an iota...why the f@#k are these
slack-jawed posers selling? Oh I see, to catch the bottom and buy from there...
ok superman, have at it  Cheesy

where were you hiding all this time ? since 2011, just don't tell me you never sold ? this maybe the reason why you are pissed or afraid ?

Nah, been traveling and taking care of something called life...wife, kid, dog, in-laws you know, all that good shit. I didn't mean to come off as pissed or afraid (would have been better if said face to face).
I'm just really amused by the same song and dance performed every time the same music starts. I'm not relying on bitcoins for living as I'm financially well off. I guess I came off harsh...not intended really.
I'm just gruff in my ways I guess  Grin

interesting, most of us here do have a wife, kids I personally don't have a dog, didnt ask you about that really, you know just saying...but this makes me think about the timing of your post? not only you I have seen many members like you the last couple of weeks pop up of no where to tell people "it is ok" and "let the sheep burn"....

I do know some of the "old school" and we/they have been through all of this before...I tell ya, we have made off like bandits but to get there you gotta go through a trial by fire, that's the only way to learn if you're going to pursue bitcoin. Some of these newbs gotta get burned before they learn that's all. In my case it was worth the pain.

so on bitstamp someone bought 1k btc at $575 and suddenly a new wall appears selling 1k bitcoins for .004% (exactly bitstamps buying + selling fees - .002% for buying or selling) more at $577.3 - why would someone buy 1k just to sell them at no profit 5 mins later???

Nice wall. We're not going down enough for someone Smiley

It seems to be dis- and reappearing here. Thought my depth-graph problems of last week were gone by now. Also, we seem to be on our way up (again) let's see when this trend fades off...

There's barely any movement at the finex swaps, it seems. This has done nothing. I wonder if the credit bubble may hurt Bitoin if it collapses at Finex... :-/

All I heard was a pretty relaxed and amusing comment- there are some people here that are just WAY to jumpy and react to every faint waft of fart as if they have just shit their pants in public.

There is no real reason to go down other than people's expections not happening.
That is almost certainly true -- but whose expectations?

Some say that it was the "next bubble" predicted by exponential extrapolation, which did not happen when predicted, and instead the price broke out through the bottom of some channel that was supposed to contain it.

However, that explanation is not very convincing because the interval between bubbles has been quite variable, so no one should have expected the "next bubble" to happen in a particular month.   As for the channel breakout, that could be easily "fixed"  by redrawing the channel.

I still prefer my "Chinese" explanation.  Namely, the price went up in late May because some Chinese traders got advance info about the "offshore" branches of Huobi and OKCoin, and stocked on bitcoins expecting the price to shoot up when they opened.  The price is now dropping because the "offshore" exchanges finally opened, those traders were disappointed, and they are unloading their coins back on the Mainland exchanges.
