I lost so much money in the last few months through buying stupid NFT's which are worth almost zero now, having ETH on Celsius which went bankrupt, and now losing the rest of my ETH, SOL on FTX... NEVER AGAIN! This is the day I convert my remaining crypto to Bitcoin!

And afaik, because of the secure element, Ledger is not fully open source.  So leaving your funds "on" a Ledger is a bit like trusting an exchange...

But yeah, you do you

When some employee steals funds off a Ledger wallet because not open source, let me know.
My bank teller knows my account number. So far, I'm still good.
Personally, I'm more concerned about Amazon knowing my cc number.
But yeah you do you too...

Btw...that reminds me, I'm gonna be remixing my late bandmates song "Paranoid Delusions"

Really bad comparison...
The funds in your bank are insured, if there are issues.  Ledger company will show you the finger if their hardware fucks up....
...

The Cyprus banks ripped off someone here for hundreds of thousands of euros when they went bankrupt years ago. That's the model the EU intends to use for the whole EU next time the banks go bankrupt. So if there are issues...

You are right.
But if I'm not mistaken we were rather talking about security of ATMs vs HW wallets, not about problems that occur due to fractional reserves or the like

So ...

Just flow with me here for a sec... What if this whole FTX thing was really a set-up.  Powers that be come in... got SB-F hooked on SOMETHING.  Have you seen the videos of him vibrating like a diesel engine?  Then start making less and less veiled threats 'till they set up the collapse.  Have legislation ready in the countries they control to try to bring the whole thing down over a few weeks...

Nah.  Just a ponzi prolly.

Also this.

All these lenders/exchanges fail one after another.  I wouldn't be too surprised, if setting up (some of) these companies just to pull the plug afterwards was an attack of tptb.  We are in an era of covert wars so it would fit the zeitgeist.

Hey, it would appear that I just turned "Legendary" today. Perhaps the slowest ever to achieve this revered status? (just under 9.5 years).

Bullish  Grin

I'll be slower than you :p

At one point I wanted to reach legendary, but then I just kind of forgot about it  Cheesy

Now all I want is for BTC to get back on track  Wink

Have you been lurking all this time?! Nice to see a familiar hat Smiley

I liked the pacman cap he complimented you on.

I am my own worst critic.  I would like to offer an alternative to the Pac caP; I think the trails show up better on this one.

Avatar-sized

I’m a gamer, so seeing this almost gave me hat envy lol  Cheesy

Great work as always xhomerx10

I probably like pacman because I'm not very mature.

....

And why compare BTC wallets to a fiat banks anyways...

....

Because I keep my assets in both. And so far, they have both served me well with no issues. Though my bank for a lot longer.  Like probably most legends on this thread.
Don't get me wrong. Most big banks piss me off. The one I have dealt with most of my life, however, (a credit union) has never screwed me,
never questioned my bitcoin transactions and saved my neck more than once, but again, that's just me.

Sure, I also use both for keeping and transferring assets.

But banks and personal HW wallets are two very different animals.  Explaining away the shortcomings of a certain wallet with a bank's security model just doesn't make much sense.

....

..... as there are so many good HW wallets out there.

Ok fine.  such as?.. I'm all ears  (I notice that green thingy avatar of yours has none, but whatever)

Like that bunny bro. He/she bitches and moans about how everything is fucked up politically to no end, in a country (s)he doesn't even reside in, no less,
but yet never offers an alternative plausible solution.

So don't mind me.... I'm drinking tonight. I might get a little wordy and boisterous...... as I do...

No problem, you are welcome to be boisterous anytime Cheesy

True, I'm bitching about a company that sells closed source devices you need to trust, while having such a bad in-house security that it endangers thousands of their customers by exposing their private data to anyone with a 5$ wrench.

Usually I don't like giving recommendations for hardware wallets to non-noobs, because everyone has different needs and expectations (as we can recognize by our conversation).

But one thing is for sure: BTC is of the philosophy open source & don't trust, verify

So I would say go with an open source devices with verifiable security.

Btw, there are also open source secure elements being developed (Trezor is working on one), but it's def. not in a Ledger.

Here is a list of some of the main wallets and their properties:

I still don't know why we need to care about this shitcoining douchenozzle and why it's taking up pages of WO... can anyone please ELI5 the relevance to Bitcoin?

Because it affects price (short term).

Dumb people losing their money because they deposited it with this shady exchange have lost liquidity which is subsequently removed from supporting the Btc price. On top of that speculators saw this coming and are front running like crazy. Next up momentum speculators.

Sit on your hands and you'll be fine but this topic is about price (and the buy and sell walls) so the content is OT.

English please!  Is it OT or is it OT?  Tongue
