Thanks Homer, that was it. That's the little bag!
Looks like I'll be OK. It's amazing how psychology affects our brain and body. Yesterday I was happily eating beef jerky sprinkled with O
2 absorber and enjoying it (tasted great BTW). Now, the mere thought of doing this again makes me want to puke my guts out.
It's going to be beef jerky
without O
2 absorber from now on!
I am sorry for your experience with the oxygen absorber, but I am delighted you got to experience beef jerky.
Jack Links is a mainstream brand here in the US, and it's decent enough. But there are also many small brands and less mass produced sorts of jerky that are also excellent.
But the very best of all?
My wife and I have made it with a food dehydrator. We have the butcher cut some meat very thinly, and we season it, and put it in that gizmo and it takes a few days I think.
IT. IS. DELICIOUS. MUCH MUCH better than anything you can buy in a store. Similar to the difference between a loaf of bread from the store, and one baked at home. Anyway... something to try.
