Those who were inclined to sell instead of hold will likely have sold to Fortress Investments or one of the other large companies who've been buying up claims at a massive discount over the last couple of years.

Andy Pag who was the organiser of Mt.Gox Legal sold has claim to one of those vulture companies. He had a claim for around 105 BTC, for which he received a mere $63,000.

Had he held, his claim today would be worth at least 15.75 BTC+BCH (~$454,000) plus a cash component worth around $46,000.

Side note, it's stated in one of the docs that the trustee will dump all other forks for cash. Wouldn't want to be jbreher right now!

Yep.. for sure, jbreher and some of the other bcasher diptwats must be feeling in a bit of an awkward position currently, sure it seems that bcash sv is ongoingly dumpening even more than the regular bcash, but they are both dumpening pretty damned good and unendingly in recent times.  Sure, due to their low liquidity, they could pumpening at anytime too with a relatively low amount of capital, but even if it does not take a lot of capital to pumpening them, does not guarantee that any of those shitcoins will end up getting pumpening'ed.

In sum: The shitcoiners.. hopening for a pumpening'ing that might not be happening to a sufficient UPpity level to offset the amounts of the losses that they have been suffering from extent of the ongoing and persistent dumpenings.

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
Another option is cool it below the ignition point. Liquid nitrogen would be a start.

I thought about adding the use of a CO2 fire extinguisher (basically dry ice) but only for a very small amount.

Who has liquid nitrogen handy?

I sometimes do. Esp if making ice cream or working on stuff.

So ammonium nitrate is an oxidizer, so you cannot put out an ammonium nitrate/sugar mix that's burning with water or powder or any other fire extinguisher. So how do you put it out?

asking for a friend.

fire blankets

Not unless they are magic blankets, you can't suffocate a fire that has it's own oxygen supply.

Good for letting it burn out.

Not a bad idea, he could have a bottle in the garage as a special fire extinguisher.

Do what the fire department does with a burning magnesium engine block... keep it from spreading and let it burn itself out.

Too large an amount.. GTFO before it goes Beirut or Texas City.

Yeah, hat's what we hypothetically did too, next time it might be a good idea to divide the big batch into smaller batches and store them safely.

Mmm a texas bbq sausage and a glass of milk, now I will sleep like a slightly drunk baby.

Happy new year from here in Germany... Hopefully at the end of the next year, most of us can be go into retirement...

people have all kinds of entry levels - including some peeps that might not have stacked enough sats in order to prepare for this kind of UPpity, either they might not have believed it to be possible or they might simply have not been a position in which they could stack away any more sats than what they were stacking.

So yeah, all kinds of levels including likely a lot of new entrants coming into the space - and there might be some benefit and/or preference in giving back, even if some of the earlier forum members may become a lot less worried about the DOWNity corrections that might come, because they are set even with the more sever of downward BTC price corrections.  The 208 week moving average is getting close to moving up $100 per week at this point, and it is currently at about $7,700  - so that seems to be the most extreme of down that could happen (such as during extreme BTC price corrections), but at this point we seem to be in an UPwardly moving direction, so we might be surprised to get any prices in the near term that is even double the 208 week moving average, whereever it might end up going by the time such correction were to occur.

Even sub-$20k prices (in terms of predicting a BTC price correction - that would be around a 33% plus correction if we use $29,544 as our baseline) are seeming quite bearish at the moment, and I am not even suggesting that they seem to be very likely, currently.. even though historically we have seen 30% to 40% spontaneous BTC price corrections that happen during past bull runs, and such corrections might be quick or they might drag on for several weeks, even during bull runs similar to the one that we are currently having.

Is this what trying water did?

I'll ask my friend later, but that looks like water on burning oil, at least you can put that out by just putting a lid on it, happened to friend of mine who forgot the Bearnaise sauce on the stove.

I was going to suggest throwing a damp towel over your "friends" fire, but WTF do I know? Muppet labs would give better advice.

Since the saltpeter is an oxidizer you can't suffocate the fire, it has it's own oxygen supply.

Would fighting fire with fire work?

I don't see how.

Anyhow, its time for a sausage and then to bed.
Good night everybody.

Always been it. Santa is a villain that brought infectious disease to humankind. He created the first germ in his laboratory in Lapland and devised an evil plan to infect children through contaminated presents. He's filth.
