D-day in Bitfinex trial - Will Bitcoin price react?

ALL EYES ON MONDAY’S TRIAL OUTCOME

As previously reported by Bitcoinist, the Supreme Court of the State of New York will resume hearing on the case between the NYAG and bitcoin exchange platform Bitfinex on Monday (July 29, 2019).

A negative outcome for iFinex — the parent company of Bitfinex, could potentially open the exchange and Tether up to more lawsuits. The NYAG is accusing Bitfinex of covering up $850 million in client losses.

My view is that they are gonna lose big. Others? What do you all think?

Judge Punts on Decision in NYAG Case Against Bitfinex and Tether

Quote
On Monday, New York Supreme Court Judge Joel M. Cohen said he needed more time to make a final decision on whether to dismiss the NYAG’s case entirely, or rule the other way and reject Bitfinex and Tether’s motion to dismiss. As such, a preliminary injunction he filed in May will be extended, probably for 90 days.

Quote
“The idea is to keep things where they are until the decision of this motion, so the decision is to extend the stay and … extend the injunction.”

Quote
The ruling means Bitfinex and Tether can continue operating their businesses as normal, but Tether still cannot lend any more funds to Bitfinex.

Honestly, I have no idea how it can end.

I read somewhere...

There is literally not one shred of proof for one single molecule of this entire story.

Nothing proves Dave Kleiman had anything to do with anything. Double nothing to point to BSV's Fat Controller being adjacent to it.

I read somewhere that CSW has in his possession a wallet belonging to Satoshi or one of his close friends (can't remember the details). He is currently using a huge computer farm to brute-force it open and get hold of the private key. His friend, pedophile Calvin Ayre is funding and helping him do it.

I wonder what will happen if they manage to crack that wallet. CSW will be able to "prove" he's Satoshi by signing a message using the cracked private key.

Well, I don't think it'll be so easy to crack the wallet anyway, so nothing may happen. But it's interesting to know what they're up to. Maybe that's why CSW said that 2019 will be the year that BTC will die...

I don’t believe it’s possible to brute force a private key, certainly not in our lifetime with current computer tech any way.

CW is an utter moron & it’s probably best to totally disregard anything he claims he can so. He’s full of shit and the sooner he’s in our rear view mirror the better.

He won’t be signing a message from a Satoshi owned wallet.

EU Exchange Bitstamp Partners with UK Firm to Offer Pound Sterling Onramp

Quote
Major European crypto exchange Bitstamp has partnered with digital asset brokerage BCB Group to enable direct transfers in British pounds sterling (GBP).

A press release shared with Cointelegraph on July 29 revealed that following the new partnership, by the end of this year United Kingdom-based investors will be able to make GBP withdrawals and deposits directly to and from their Bitstamp accounts.

There is an objective: unfucken the protocol, returning it to the original version.

So the original version called for bitcoin acting as a file and data storage service?

And a service that will have to be run by nation states and/or giant corporations, and will be permissioned, censored and controlled by them?   (assuming it can work at all)

Definitely difficult to understand how a kind of "infinite" block size brings bitcoin "back" to its roots.

One thing that is interesting is to have some of these dumbass approaches (or experimentations by scam artists) to show through practice what NOT to do.

If Bitcoin (BTC) had infinite block size, it would be littered with near-infinitely-sized spam attacks, and the worst part is that all this garbage would have to be preserved forever as part of the blockchain, forever filling up TB upon TB of storage space... There's a reason why Satoshi included the 1 MB cap in the code.

The problem is that inexperienced programmers tend to prefer the "bigger is better" approach, failing to foresee its side-effects. Fortunately, they are not in control of Bitcoin.

Good questions. The shills from the BSV camp want bitcoin to be a centralized, corporate tool. This is one of the reasons people dont believe CSW is Satoshi.

Observing BTC @ 9,499 USD

Lets hope soon this two numbers will match.

As soon as i checked WO, I had a deja-vu with the price at parity too.
I still remember the 10.000 pages fiasco. Dunno who was deleting posts to move the page counter. What a mess it was!

24k USD would be good, but dunno why i rised the bar and the number that would make me smile now is +50k

Exactly! Same here: $20-25k doesn't sound fun anymore.... I guess some $90-120k could make me sell some $ of my stash though (today). If we're talking about 2021 then I guess this number will go even further up... Cool

SOPR

ummmm, neat idea...but I'm just not seeing anything useful in the graph...

am I missing something?

https://studio.glassnode.com/metrics?a=BTC&m=valuation.Sopr

Introducing SOPR: spent outputs to predict bitcoin lows and tops

Quote
Introducing the Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR)
The SOPR a very simple indicator. It’s calculated from spent outputs. It’s the realized value (USD) divided by the value at creation (USD) of the output. Or simply: price sold / price paid.
When SOPR > 1, it means that the owners of the spent outputs are in profit at the time of the transaction; otherwise, they are at a loss
By plotting the SOPR of all spent outputs combined, aggregated by the day in which they were spent (using blockchain date), the graph can be produced

https://medium.com/unconfiscatable/introducing-sopr-spent-outputs-to-predict-bitcoin-lows-and-tops-ceb4536b3b9

Hi, jojo69 It looks better here.

Quote
When SOPR > 1, it means that the owners of the spent outputs got profit from the operation. Otherwise, losses. The bull market seems to reject SOPR below 1, and the bear market to reject SOPR above 1.

lose: unfind ... loose: untight

How sophomoric.

There is an objective: unfucken the protocol, returning it to the original version.

For prudence, this is being done in a stepwise manner.

Each step is -- say it with me now class -- progress toward that objective.
