Remember last night when I said it was your last chance to buy below 80?

Well, now might be your last chance below 90.

Let's put ourselves in the shoes of a newbie.  So excited to get some bitcoins!  I'll move 4000 to Mt Gox to buy 100 coins!!!  Then the big wait... finally the money is there and I can buy WHAT ONLY 45 coins?!??

Sh*t... but look, there was recently flash crash and recovery down to the mid 50s.  I guess I'll try to catch that this weekend.

tl;dr; its gonna take time for the new money to screw its head around the new prices...

I think this singlehandedly explains the gaping maw that is the bid-ask gap.

Actually, I tend to think the bid-ask gap is mostly a function of the speed at which large purchases or dumps happen. When a whale goes all out and buys 2000 BTC in one go, the market right under the last price is too thin, and the gap happens while the market readjusts itself.

I have never seen anything like this before, Is there any end to this growth? When will we hit 1 million per bitcoin? I am ready to retire. Grin

as long as there is a steady influx of people/money still willing to buy at increased prices

Bitcoin was just featured on German News Site "Spiegel Online"'s front page. That's very big in Germany. http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/netzpolitik/virtuelle-waehrung-bitcoin-auf-rekordhoch-a-891169.html

I still believe the main driver for the recent price increase is the attention Bitcoin got in German papers a couple of weeks ago. It takes a few weeks for people to get their heads wrapped around it, then buy some, so the timing matches up. Also, look at the premium on most Euro markets.

The climb to $100 continues!

Looks like North Americans are waking up and realizing they're being left behind (because they didn't buy on Monday/Tuesday like they should have).
