I,ve also lived with the ticker the past year, around 15 hours a day. Sure it has been manipulated to get everybody in or out? It's hard to say, and only your own judgement prohibit you from making money off of it.
a trick in clarkmoody is to use the calculator: On the BTC side put 50.000BTC in the calculator and watch how much more, than price, slippage changes the payout!
A big time dumper needs a stuffed buy side. So as it is now with a big ask wall and hype, conditions might be right for a dump but the "bull squeeze" can ofcause also be used to spring the price higher when the ask wall dissapears.
A manipulator will consider selling when a rise in price gives decreasing payout for a large amout of BTC, which is a sign that the $ inflow is slowing down or/and the buyers are getting worried.
But we really can't know the manipulator might have most his wealth in $ so the intent is still clouded.
Ask yourself what Yoda would suggest!

I'm going to take a wild guess and say no.
Adam makes all kinds of shit up... he expects a dramatic move in every direction except left at all times.

It'd be very stupid if Avalon is really going to dump the BTC right away. Since the price is denominated in USD but the pre-order funding is collected in BTC, dumping the BTC just means they end up with less USD.
I guess this is their plan:
1. Accumulate a lot of BTC from $13 to $17
2. Announce their 2nd batch which accepts BTC only
3. BTC/USD rate increases as demand increases
4. People buy BTC to pay for pre-order, they sell their BTC to them at current rate ($19.5)
5. They earn 15-50% profit in USD, and get all BTC sold in step 4 back as pre-order funding.
Since they have already got 15-50% extra profit in USD, they will use this to build 2nd batch and keep all BTC as profit and don't need to dump them right away.

well pfft. sold my recent mined btc. figure people are going to buy avalon gear and the middleman will dump them

Or a lot of folks like me and my friend are buying at market price right now, to grab BTC to order AVALON ASIC in 9 hours.. I'm pretty sure the 600 order of this morning will not affect the price at all
And Avalon, who is rushing preorders in order to pay for parts before the weekend is up will turn around and sell $1500*600 = $900,000 into the bids beginning at 9 am. Unless we get some buyers stepping up, that would take us to around $16. There's always more buyers sitting off the books, but that's still a lot of selling pressure to absorb in a day or two.
I'm pretty sure (I've read it somewhere a while ago) that Avalon pay some of their supplier in BTC.
A reference would be great, but I also don't find that too hard to believe. Good news if true.

Not a long-term bear but Avalon is going to need to dump 600 * $1,499 back into fiat currency, probably half of that before the Chinese New Year. The real question is if a larger sell off will happen to try to grab some arbitrage before Avalon moves.
I figure less than $21.00 through tomorrow, then dropping back to $18.00 or higher until after CNY.
