but i could extract the password i used in qt wallet... but it is not working as i said...
what options i need to use... command line?
You need to specify the --otherversion=OTHERVERSION commandline option so that Pywallet knows which coin you're using... It's been a while, but I believe that OTHERVERSION is based on the prefix for the address... you can see the list here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_address_prefixes

I guess for GINcoin you'd need to use 38 (== G)

its not working... i dont cary anymore... gincoin dumped hard...
Wait... you were trying to rescue coins from a "gincoin" wallet.dat and NOT a bitcoin wallet.dat? Huh

yes sry thought this wouldnt make any differences

If so, you should probably have specified that in the OP... extracting keys from altcoin wallet.dats using pywallet requires that specific commandline options are used. Undecided Otherwise pywallet will be looking for bitcoin keys (and for obvious reasons, will fail)

hacked? What do you mean? The coins are still in the wallet as i can see on blockchainexplorer...

Did you try using pywallet and export the private keys?

the github is here:
https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

Try running it with the GUI by adding the right port (8989)

Good luck, if you need more help let me know, I have used it many times with corrupt wallets with good success.

hacked? What do you mean? The coins are still in the wallet as i can see on blockchainexplorer...
hacked in the meaning of it's a fake wallet not originally created by bitcoin core
is this your own wallet or you get it from someone or somewhere on the web?
you can read achow101's explanation about fake wallet.dat in another thread, follow the link below

Maybe your wallet.dat file is corrupted, you do not have an older version of it? If so, you can restore it by remembering to back up the current version.
Maybe also u need to use older client for it?
Maybe other wallets also used this filename wallet.dat as wallet file?
I presume you would know this, keep looking if password is correct u just need proper client.

tried all avaiable qt wallets...
set up new windows...
syncht... replaced wallet... see my coins now but still not able to decrypt...
i think it has to do with my symbols /(...
got similar problem with other coin...
they outsorced my language in windows from seed phrase... couldnt recover my wallet...
needed to use linux.... recovered... new english seed... and fine...

but here i have no more idea...

Maybe its a "hacked" wallet

snip

it contains "(/" without "

Regardless, open notepad, copy-paste all  symbols that constitute your password  and then save as txt file. That should convert to UTF8. After that, try them  again with wallet.dat

still unlockable...

Does your password contain any special character like "a" with two  dots above? If yes,  it could be a matter of  decoding into unicode. Try to convert  your recovered password into utf8 and then use it.

Do you get the same type of error by entering the wrong and correct password?

Yes same type of error...

And when I said earlier versions, I meant other versions of the wallet.dat file and not the Software. If you get the same error with different files, the problem should not be in the files ...

Yes. Older versions of the wallet (and software) with same behavior...

Yes  I allready tried older versions, but its still the same...

Did you try checking if you correctly put the right path where the wallet.dat save? Maybe you put a different wallet.dat

You can mostly find the wallet.dat in this path C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin in Windows OS
Check if there is duplicated wallet.dat.

Also, try to copy the wallet.dat and import it to another/new PC with Bitcoin-qt and let's see if it will work or not. Because if it works possible your old PC where your wallet installed is HDD corrupted or the wallet.dat is corrupted as mention above.

Edit: Just want to add this someone already solve this issue by installing the lower wallet version. What version did you create your wallet?

Check this link https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/14461

Yeah I use correct Roaming folder on other partition (in default roaming folder isnt anything), so i am sure i use correct path... (all other alt wallets in this roaming folder works fine)
So it seems wallet.dat is corrupted and i lost my coins because also on other pc i have the same problem...
Also tried older versions and still the same...
