It's redundant. If your post is meritable people will reward you as such without you having to ask. I don't really think asking for a post to be merited deserves negative feedback, but I mentioned elsewhere that I think the admin's should come up with some rules/guidelines on this behaviour because I don't think it should be allowed. Doing this is essentially begging and in my opinion should be treated the same as begging for bitcoin and the posts either edited to remove the offending part or the post/thread just deleted entirely. Hopefully theymos will share his stance on it as I'm sure he doesn't agree with people leaving negative for it as this behaviour is why the activity system was introduced in the first place.

Thank you guys , i got my answer , I was just to conscious about the Merit factor. And wanting merit in deserved post is crime or not. It seems it is not crime. But certainly i will not run after merit . I will just deliver good post as per my ability. That's all.

You (and everyone else) should do that.  Wanting merit is not a CRIME, obviously.  But if you ask for merit, you may get negative trust from DT.   Smiley

"DT" stands for Dumb Trolls, right? Because only dumb trolls would abuse the trust system and use it as a weapon to penalize for something merit related.

People will give negative trust for any reason in the world, least of which relating to a failed transaction. Merit will absolutely turn into the same thing.

I don't think asking for merit in a post is a crime, people that are offended won't leave merit. Why do people keep trying to complicate things with so many implied rules?

It is treated as a crime to buy/sell merit
What is crime? sources are not allowed to sell their sMerits, I think sources should sell merits but not to the shitposters, anybody who has quality post and wants to rank up, should pay to rank up to the forum.

These people have the fate of the forum in their hand and it will be determined by something much more significant than "being past member".
You should cry for a community where the fate of it's forum is in the hands of somebody like me. (fate of a single beggar who needs to rank up from a jr into a member in 2 years).

because almost nobody will ever become a merit source
Not everybody is willing to be a source, but you could if you are at least a hero member.

This is reserved for a very select few members that have proven themselves worthy of the responsibility to create our most valuable resource against spam out of thin air.
This is going to be a self moderating forum, if you could only rank up by getting merits from those few, you don't need any moderators, they must stay neutral, I believe that we should merit any reasonable and understandable post.

Yes I think too. But to be the merit source we have to be after member ?

You are very unlikely to ever become a merit source. I mean this without insult, because almost nobody will ever become a merit source. This is reserved for a very select few members that have proven themselves worthy of the responsibility to create our most valuable resource against spam out of thin air. These people have the fate of the forum in their hand and it will be determined by something much more significant than "being past member".

You will not be treated like a "criminal" for adding a comment "Merit this if it was helpful", but I will tell you that merit is on the forefront of everyone's mind, unless they are unaware that is has been implemented. Everyone is excited to use their merit, almost nobody has simply forgotten that it exists. I would be willing to bet that adding a comment like this to the bottom of a post would most likely have the opposite effect, though; you will receive less merit for saying this.

It is treated as a crime to buy/sell merit, but it is treated as strange to mention it at the end of your posts. My suggestion, Don't do it, you will be a cringe machine. It is a standalone system and doesn't need to be coaxed out of people.

It's just a small pet-peeve of mine, but the formatting of this post has been giving me chills, you should keep it simple, it doesn't need so many colors and strange happenings.

You don't need merit points anyway in this forum . If you are a newbie, a Jr member or even a member in this case I only advice you to forget about getting merit to rank up , if you search for payment from signature campaigns just forget about it , if you're here to get some extra cash just look closer into the forum , there are opportunities , subjects that they may help you to get money , mining , dealing with altcoins , airdrops and ICO , a lot of opportunities that can be a source of increasing your portfolio , I don't think the 100 $ that you can get from signature campaigns monthly should be a big deal for you , you must see how to get real money not this shity tips that you can get .

It's all in the actual word. Merit - Something that deserves or justifies a reward or commendation; a commendable quality, act, etc.: . Although some may think their posts deserve to be merited ultimately is the community who decides whether or not it is going to happen. Consistent contributions to the community will result in a merited account and this is how it's supposed to work.
Yes primitively,it is suppose to work that way but it ISN'T. It has become more like  "It's my merit,I do whatever I want with it because the quality of posts is subjective."Look around the forum, you will find same people meriting same accounts most of the time.Definitely not going the way the system is intended to be.

Of course it isn't a crime, but it can lead to misunderstandings about your motives. This forum has fallen victim to a disease know as signature  spamming, and many new members see this as a means of picking up easy money. Unfortunately they pollute the boards, and diminish their usefulness. Begging for merit ( or asking for it ) is taken to be a desire to increase rank, and thus to obtain higher payments for posting, and many of us would like to see the signature campaigns reduced, or even removed, so anyone who is perceived or thought to be attempting to increase the sig spamming will tend to be disadvantaged.

The best approach is to forget about merits, and try to be a contributing member of the forum. It is an information, help and discussion site, and not an employment exchange or revenue generator in my opinion.

I personally think that adding such a phrase at the end of posts is fine for as long as it doesn't come across as spammy. The thing is though, that already goes without saying. That's how the system works; post something useful and get merit for it.
Because it goes without saying anybody would want Merit, I think it shouldn't be asked for. In the end there are two possibilities:
1. people asking for Merit get more Merit than people who don't ask for it.
2. everybody adds a "please Merit me" to all posts to be part of #1.
3. people who deserve Merit won't get it because they ask for it (this is what I follow)
In my opinion, all three are undesirable. Let forum users decide who to Merit on their own.

Some other thoughts:
" if you like this , just commend me a MERIT point , it will boost my passion to research more."  [/color]
Merits aren't the same as "likes", it's not meant to be given for posts you like, or even agree with. It's meant to highlight good posts.

NB:
1. I am new on this society, I saw peoples are getting merits by spamming. I saw a post , he got 30 Merits for one post (3 Line) .
It could be someone's alt-account. Theymos assumes this will eventually end once spammers run out of sMerit, and the amount they can give is small compared to the total amount that will be around.

Will it be treated as a CRIME ? I am again saying that is not begging.
I wouldn't do it. Note that I've never asked for any, and yet I got them. Even for posts I made before the Merit system existed.

2. Am i capable and ranked enough to get this service , and be a merit source ? I want to help people.
Since you just joined the forum last month, I don't think you'll qualify as a "somewhat established member". (I've been waiting for a response to my Merit source application for 12 days.)

To be honest, if you feel you give so much effort to post in the forum it means you are not doing it naturally and you're "forcing" yourself to comment. Don't try to write a useful post to improve the quality of our forum, it's not the purpose. Try to post your comments in topics you're interested in, interacting with the community etc. Keep in mind it's a forum community, not a blog.

If you post to write at the end " if you like this , just commend me a MERIT point , it will boost my passion to research more." You will get the opposite result

True, just like with money in life. If you're doing something just for the sake of money, that's the only thing that you wont be seeing coming in.
Someone gave a nice guideline about posts but the most important one is stick to the topics you know, forcing yourself to write quality posts in the topics you don't know will look very forced.

Keep in mind it's a forum community, not a blog.

This is very, very true. I see a lot of people writing posts like they're taking a job interview with microsoft, and it's usually the lower tanks. Don't force yourself to write like that, write as you're speaking to your friend.

It may get frustrating if you feel like your useful posts get ignored, but that's just how things currently are, and actually asking for merit at the end of your posts may turn off other users because it might look to them that the only reason you're posting is to get merit.

You will improve on posting helpful article, however asking someone to give oneself merit is like a curse.

Similarly it is like asking for a small donation to a non-profit government.

In reality community member don't care what you post whether it is constructive or shitpost, The bottom line is if you can established yourself to become a natural member doing a normal post.

Begging is so demeaning. Wanting money is a natural desire for many, but standing on the street corner asking people to give you money is not the best way to get it in my opinion. It doesn't do much for your image or reputation either. Merit is much the same.
