tl;dr: Unwarranted and paranoid opinion, about war, uses Bill Gates quote.

Ever thought about between which parties this war gonna be?

Thanks for that, I couldn't get myself to read his whole text right now.  As far as parties, what are my options?

I am more worried about Civil War again in American than I am of a World War, amid the whispers of talk of secession being denied...

If you want to chat more in depth about system building, let me know

Please consider starting a thread about it. I'm somewhat cynical but always interested in new ideas.

Sure. I'll do my best.

If it weren't for those post-donatory second-thoughts...

I scrutinized your avatar a little better and it shows a hamster stuffing away corn. And the corresponding slogan that says "Hoard."
It's a good thing you warned me of those prepper folks you don't wanna be mistaken for.
Now I think it's only fair I warn you, too. Because I'm not sure the direction you're taking is the one you wanna go.

When push comes to shove, you better take care of yourselves. Because I sucked at playing Lemmings. Just to let you know.

The avatar is a bit of a joke about the state of bitcoin at the moment, not a personal philosophy =P

That puts it in a whole new light.
I see double meanings in everything these days.

Anyway, how much did I donate? .1, .01? That's still a couple million Satoshis. Will that buy me a ticket to the magic village eventually if the get-rich-quick-thing doesn't work out for me?

Thanks in advance

Preparing for disaster provokes it

What absolute nonsense!   Roll Eyes

Does my silver stack cause Helicopter Ben to print money?  NO!

Does my emergency water supply cause earthquakes and hurricanes?  NO!

Did having a gun cause these (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1438485) mothers' homes to be invaded, or save their children?

Weakness invites aggression.  Always has, always will.

Peace through strength is the way to go.   Cool

But on the whole, the world is much more educated and less violent than many other periods of history.

For educated, read indoctrinated. It doesn't have to be that way and I am a big fan of true education but in the hands of the state, it has been subverted for unfortunate ends.

Our system is flawed. And it's maybe best to save ourselves the time to figure out where and why exactly and just do things differently. Just the way we all know it works already.

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
—Buckminster Fuller

I've been working on alternative modes of living for nearly 3 years now. And no, I'm not talking about being a prepper. Preppers prepare for disaster, they dont build a new system.

I spent the last few years touring around the world studying permaculture and ecovillages and am going to put down roots in a community in the spring. There are thousands of people like me out there already who are researching & building a new system, quietly and patiently waiting for a tipping point when average people start to get fed up with the existing system and look for alternatives.

I like that. It offers something new.

Preparing for disaster provokes it, that's something I tried to get across in my post.

Loosen up and enjoy life!

EDIT: Do you have a tipping address?

The war is already here between corporations and the cattle. When I say corporations I include governments. Between the food we eat and the flouride in the water to the dumbing down of the population through state education the end game is almost upon us. Slavery has always been a human condition but now the slave masters are supremely efficient at it.

+1 It's a new kind of slavery, where people usually are not aware that they are slaves.

But on the whole, the world is much more educated and less violent than many other periods of history. I believe we are coming to a more interconnected world that will be able to be held accountable much more easily than in the past. The freedom of information is amazing, and though some places try to stop this freedom.. China, Iran, etc... there are relatively simple technologies to access and share ideas that governments wish to suppress. (TOR + GPG is so easy to use and so hard to track or stop.) The will of the masses always prevails in the end, and the masses have good intentions when they are aware. If we can continue to stay one step ahead in the freedom of information, which I believe we will, then I think we'll all be ok.
