Warren Buffet in 2014: “Bitcoin is a mirage, stay away from it”. Today Bitcoin Price Is Sevenfold Higher

One of the biggest risks of being successful is arrogance. Based on your prior successful endeavors, you tend to become more and more opinionated and try bolder and bolder scenarios. One of the most successful persons in this world, Warren Buffet, made such a bold claim in 2014:

I wouldn't say he is arrogant. Lots of people did not believe Bitcoin would ever become useful.

At the time Warren Buffet spoke, there were still a lot of widespread skepticism that bitcoin could end up as a puff of a smoke, sometimes it is best to err on the side of caution, he never believed that governments could one day legalize a currency they had no hand in creating and none could have foreseen what took place in 2017 as being a possibility in even a decade's time.

He's right in the sense that you cannot afford to invest billion of dollars even now in this technology. There are many risks. We can all be right based on our own perspectives.

It is only about three years when Mr. Warren Buffet made a bold claim about bitcoin. As what others say to him, he is known for making an investment in a long-term scheme. Maybe the basis for his claim is in a long-term period. Perhaps we have to wait for about 15 or 20 year period, before we make a conclusion regarding his 2014 claim.
whatever he said its just his owned perception about this currency or system, there's two possibilities  maybe he also have a lots of bitcoin or he got some
bad experience about this project but since its just 3 years we cant justified if he will make another statement admitting his mistakes or claimed that he's
right after maybe 10-20 years like what you have said.

Warren Buffet is probably the best long term stock market investor but that doesn't mean he is infallible. Anyway, I think his opinions on investment in general should be taken into account, no matter if after thinking carefully about it, you finally disagree with him.

It would be interesting to know if he keeps thinking the same though.
He's not infallible by any means, but he has a point and he didn't even lose any money on bitcoin since he never bought any.  He doesn't invest in assets he doesn't understand, and I respect that immensely.  Remember, he's responsible for other people's money, so it makes sense not to buy something as risky as bitcoin--and in the meantime he's made so much money on the stocks he bought that it doesn't matter to him.  Being risk averse isn't a sign of failure.

Without doubt he is human after all and has made some mistakes even when it comes to investments, i will not be surprised if he has realized his mistakes and has invested millions into bitcoins by now. As i always say it's never too late to invest into bitcoins irrespective of it's current price it will surely go up again.

Warren buffet is a successful investor in stock market and he is one of the richest people in the world. But we could see that through out his trading history,he has stayed away from investing in new technologies and he is satisfied by investing in traditional businesses.Bitcoin, being a new technology,he has no clear understanding about it and so he wishes to stay away from it and also advises investors to stay away from it.So,we should not take his words as a golden rule.Investing in bitcoin depends upon how far we have understood about its remarkable technology and its potential.Any person who knows potential of bitcoin would not like to stay away from investing in it.So,just follow your inner voice which always "Bitcoin, the ultimate way for financial freedom".

In 2014 Warren Buffet was 84 years old, so you can understand that at this age people like to take rest and not work hard, so it is a question you can trust to him or not. Plus today Bitcoin price is completely different - it is much, much higher, so Bitcoin mining is much more profitable.

He is  a great investor, so he had is opinion about bitcoin. He mistook the potential of bitcoin,  but he may be  an owner now of bitcoin and other altcoins, because he might already have found the true potential of these cryptocurrencies.  And even if he didn't invest in cryptocurrency, well, it might not make any difference to him, because he is very rich.

There's a warren buffet on Twitter, not sure if it's the real person or not but he is always suggesting purchasing LTC

I believe he really said that and he meant it because if he will claim that he did not said that during an interview he must sue the site or the guy right away for posting his name without his consent and destroying his reputation. I think he admit it now that he was wrong of early judgemental and maybe he had already investing for bitcoins to benefits the increasing value like Bill Gates do.

Legit, I am officially vouching for him to be the real deal Warren, I also once heard from his own lips saying to buy BCH back in 2015 before Bitcoin cash even become a thing, he probably had some time machine. lol I'm not going to say what he told me about NEO, but why not? I'm going to say it anyways, buy so many NEO because it will rival Ξ and all of this before even Ξ existed. we should all let this old man be in his last days on earth.

This thing that you said is even more interesting.  I just salute the people who accept that sometimes you are not always right.
He did invest on bitcoin after that as someone stated here and I am interested in his way of thingking nowadays when he finally realize the value.  I have heard btc alot of times before and I hate the idea of it " a currency with so much value"?  I don't see why.  But when I finally indulge and cought on the waves,  i realize why.

He don't consider bitcoin as a currency: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTxPfxmkLIY as for the statement you mentioned, I believe there is no proof that he said that and even If he did, being a billionaire doesn't make him right, bitcoin is doing great and will continue to do so as long as we have good developers and a great community, that's the whole point from having a decentralized system.

You cannot blame him, back then bitcoin was hard to predit even up to now,  i think if you had read books about him, you'll realize why he did said, what he said, just like cuban, the owner of dallas mavrericks, they know they are influential people, everything they say will have an effect,be it in bitcoin or the stock market. I think warren buftet, already has bticoins, since he knows the gains he will get,but he may be looking at bitcoin to be expensive for him, so say its a bad investment, stay away, a lot will follow him, so maybe the time when bitcoins price back then went down, he bought some right away, and knowing that there is annonymity in bitcoin, no one would ever know, we might be shocked if one day, he discusses on how people became successful with bitcoin, becuase just like ither skpetics, there's no way that you wouldn't want to find out yourself, why people are in it, you need to have it first hand. I think when it comes to a personality saying bitcoin is not a good investment, be it warren buffet or robert kiyosaki, we still need to asses them, the richest man in the world, bill gates even said, that bitcoin cannot be stopped, so now we have cintradicting views, and the latter seems to be correct.

I am sure he won't have needed a soothsayer now to tell him how wrong he was. If he was thesame person you saw on twitter, then he must have reconsidered now. Who wouldn't? And even campaigning for LTC?  Grin ... Couldn't blame him though, that was all he could see then! Most of us were not in anyway different.

Very true ... Made some good calls either way on that Twitter account so if it's an impostor, he/she is getting somethings right still.

Maximum people were skeptical about Bitcoin in 2014. Many are still today, but number has gradually decreased this year. In 2014, approximately some 1-2 million people were in Bitcoin and was completely a new commodity. Anyone would think that it will fail. Warren Buffet is indeed good with stocks and shares. But cryptocurrencies are way different from them and during that time governments were also wary of Bitcoin and were advising people to stay away from them. Anyone could feel that Bitcoin won't survive. Bitcoin has always been unpredictable.

We can't deny that Warren Buffet is a good investor with the millions he made with stocks and share, there's no question to that. Judging from the article, Warren Buffet only saw bitcoin as a means of transmitting money and then compared it to a check. Bitcoin is very different with a check. Perhaps Warren Buffet simply failed to see the other characteristics of Bitcoin and did not see its potential. Back then, a lot of other people similarly chose to ignore Bitcoin.

I agree that Bitcoin has always been unperdictable because even up to this very day, no one can say for sure what the future entails for Bitcoin despite the price rise
