So I've FOMO'd a tiny bit of BTC into Waves ICO, after reading their plans it all looked legit and worth a shot.

Now I probably have witnessed the worst communication/PR from any project with more than 1 mill in funding and I'm thinking about cutting my losses.

To be honest, the amount invested isn't that much (about .5% of my total portfolio).

What would you do, hold and wait? Or dump it..
I'm a newbie. Please,  I'd like to know how these waves work

Hope you didn't sell at 20K sats.  The goal is to sell HIGH, not at the lowest possible point.

Sitting at 28K sats right now.

If you're thinking about panic selling, it's always worth considering your exit point.

So it's bouncing back! I'm glad I sold only enough to diversify.

I've got no intention of selling waves I bought. I can wait for months. Cant imagine that it would not be profitable in the long term, even if it is only 2-3x.
The only thing bothering me is that I could have bought them cheaper than ICO (not that much cheaper though because I bought with USD). I think that is the only issue I have.

I sold 70% of my waves and kept the remaining for future use.

Let's see what the future holds.

I hope you covered your initial investment Wink

Someone from Waves must have seen this thread and decided to pump it.  Cheesy

But seriously, it's better to be patient and wait than opening yourself to risk when trading altcoins.

If the marketcap of a coin is $ 14,605,600 and their Dev. cash on hand is $16,436,095 - you've got an undervalued company. Nobody can debate that math.

Honestly, what kind of dork sells their shares when Development is swimming in cash?

This is a classic shakeout fueled by unrealistic expectations and the heavy burden that comes with instant gratification withdrawal symptoms [and highly creative FUD] .

Some clever teenager is sitting in his mom's basement buying up your discount shares with his lunch money. Definitely not me.

Might as well hand me some more for free. Consider it a donation to my artistic pursuits.

These guys have as much cash as Ethereum had post-ICO, and even more of a product to show for it already.

There isnt even a node online. We are trading on the FETUS of the Waves blockchain. Just wait until we have Nodes and Staking in a couple weeks.

Smart contracts coming to Waves early 2017.

My vote: HODL

Waves was over bought during the ICO.

May be worth holding in the future, but Waves won't get any attention until it is on more exchanges.

sold mine around 25k.
after their fiasco launch, with lots of free waves(not bounty, really free for anyone registering facebook there) to people who didnt invest i was already pissed. then, no buy walls, then money start to disappear without explanation and this week started with the best one... mainnet offline without any announcement.

30k to a bunch of kids who doesnt seem to know how to run a business so im out.

That's a bad idea.  A Facebook giveaway can be gamed/cheated for a lot of money.  Stellar did this when they launched, and it was cheated for millions of STR by Chinese hackers who utilized the help of click farms and click farm suppliers.

From the article:

Quote
His biggest order, he told me, was for Chinese hackers trying to fleece the digital payment exchange Stellar; he hired every freelance worker he could find, but he was still only able to fulfill a small portion of it.

i use to think it will work actually and that but after just a week after the release, it seem like the dev team wanna run with all the ico funds.  i don't see them have the positive look with thier own project in the future. Grin dumped all i got and bought BTCs after all its going to be halving. I could profit this halving.

The motivation for good communication/pr is attract new investors and prevent old ones leaving. There to busy withdrawing ICO address to care about that.

Lol.  I have no strong feelings regarding waves, but I know there was a lot of hype and there are tons of people who believe in it.  So I think if you bought right now and just held onto it for a year (like OP suggests), you could probably make some decent coin.  And by coin, I mean bitcoin, because that's the only one that isn't totally shitty.

Even if they start to develop this into a decentralized exchange, would potential customers really trust the gateway that they set up to convert fiat, BTC and altcoins to tokens on the Wavesplatform? With the way they have been going about things lately, I doubt people are ever going to gain enough trust to actually use the Wavesplatform for exchanges. I'm not sure that I would want to give these people the KYC information they would need to convert fiat to Wave tokens. I don't see any potential for a moon shot with this token, unless the Waves team decides to devote all of their 30000 BTC and 9 million Waves tokens to manipulating the market.

I invested for the long term (at least 1 year). Once full node is released to the public there is a great chance Poloniex will add it to their exchange giving Waves more liquidity in the market. I follow my own strategy because i believe in Waves potential, so i am probably going to buy more coins at these prices. If you are a trader, go on and just trade.

It is because of Waves roadmap that i am on long term with it, specially after LPOS is implemented (lending staking). Good luck for us Cheesy
