...With nodes, everything is simple until you start setting it all up. If the user is completely unfamiliar with setting up his own server and the command line in Ubuntu, even with a ready-made manual it will be difficult for him to figure out all those console line commands, what works and how to set it up. You need at least minimal technical knowledge to successfully participate in the nodes.

As a rule, all tasks in the test network are similar to each other and consist in swaps of coins, providing liquidity, moving coins through the bridge. All these tasks are not difficult for those who have previously been engaged in trading on DEX and earning on Defi. As for beginners, participation in test networks will allow you to raise your level of knowledge and at the same time also get a profit.

Not everything is as rosy as you describe. Not all testnets are profitable. Anyone who plans to spend time on testnets should consider one truth, that 90% of all testnets will not bring you anything in terms of profit, only experience. It follows that it is not enough just to start taking part in the testnet, you still need to learn to recognize promising testnet. Newcomers who have recently heard about testnet Aptos, rushed to participate in all testnet, thinking they all bring as much profit. They don't take into account the fact that testnets like Aptos appear 3-4 times a year, and everything else just passes by.

Testnets are quite a good experience, if you ask me. It gives a win-win situation for everyone concerned here. Why? You get to use a new start-up products and test it's integrity, and you may be rewarded with some profitable tokens. Quite a good one

This is a great way to earn some income if truly it is proven to give good incentive from some small task since there basically as a trial just like Airdrop and bounties.
But again since we already have a bad experience with bounties lately seeing a new trend that can reward users is a good alternative but then we should also analys the risk involved in such task you may end up not getting paid at all.
If the testnet requires huge deposit to their network I believe that is a big risk for bounty hunters who are trying hard to earn some income while performing some tasks, and considering the huge numbers of projects undergoing a testnet if we are required to deposit some small amount of coin for each of the testnet thus when added up it will be a large amount of coins, however if those testnet are free that can be tested with a virtual coin that will be a welcome development, I think this is a good opportunity for bounty hunters to alternatively work on testnet to earn extra income.

I am not fully aware of this and this is much better than doing bounty campaigns based on my research after stumbling over this testnet bounty, you will not only increase your knowledge but you will be a part of something when the project launches its mainet, but like all the other bounty campaign, there's really no guaranty that the project you're working will be successful it's still a gamble so only pick the right project to test.

personally, i value testnet over bounty and airdrop, because participating in testnet you have to take the tasks seriously then you must give feedback to the project team so they can evaluate the quality of the project before releasing the final version. this job requires you to spend a lot of time experiencing the product and regularly interacting with the team of the team. it can be said that testnet brings both knowledge and profit to testers, it does not turn everyone into spammers everywhere.

I have not participated in such events before. What do you advise now from the current, there is free time I would like to take part.
Who is actively involved in this, advise several projects that you think will be relevant.
If you want to get involved in tesnet events then make sure you have to have patience because basically not all the projects running the event will really pay us even a lot of them nowadays are scammers.
Looking for relevant projects, I think the projects on Op's list also seem worthy projects for us to work on as some of them have a clear mainnet launch goal.

Very open insight for all here. good advice from cryptoaddictchie (OP). I think people need to know that this is not a cure for cancer. This is to facilitate mass distribution of tokens and allow investors to test them before the main network is tested and correct Many projects are doing this now but we need to read between the lines and this It will help to check what projects are doing on their testnet

most of those testnet they run will somehow requested to make a some Minimal deposit to carry out the test of which I know most of you won't like to risk a dime from your ends.
Minimal deposit? Ive done more than 10 and I could say that I didnt spend on any fees or deposit since its just a testnet. You might be thinking of a retroactive airdrop instead since you mentioned deposit.

Testnet are typically used test coin too or those without value, they gonna give you tokens or faucet for that then test it to do trading, swapping, lending and etc any means to try out the platform.

Retroactive need a fairly large amount of money from 500$ to 1000$ to perform simple tasks swap, add pool, stake, trade... you need to experience all the products of the project. We won't spend such a big amount but to make sure to get the airdrop we need such amount to do it and when it's over, it will cost us 20-30 dollars to complete the task. I think what he is talking about is mint NFT, like if you want to mine NFT on Aptos it will cost you 0.5 or 1APT to mine NFT, and some airdrops require ETH or BNB to complete the mission. All of them are not testnet.

This seems like a more rewarding opportunity to earn in the cryptocurrency space. Most people that engage in bounty and airdrops don't eventually get paid for their services. Comparing that to these test net opportunities is similar, though the test net is expected to be more lucrative when one gets a good project.

Testnets and nodes are now the most relevant option if we are talking about earning cryptocurrencies without initial investment. I would like to point out that most of testnet and nodes will never bring you any profit, especially where there is no need to attract real cryptocurrencies. I can also advise those who want to spend their time on cryptocurrencies to participate in Gleam giveaways and airdrop. This is a very popular platform for promotion of different cryptocurrencies and there are new tasks there every day.
The task of tesnets and nodes is very easy and even comes with a tutorial on the medium article, we are only tasked with testing the testnets mode platform to get incentives when tokens will be distributed, but I rarely follow gleam rewards because it has several tasks depending on different projects, but I'm sure there are some new testnets that will potentially grow like Aptos and keep exploring to find other potential tetnets.

I cannot agree with you that tesnets, and especially nodes, are simple. Some tesnets require some knowledge when you test some platform or service. If you have no experience in navigating nets, bridges, and wallets, even with a guide, it can take you a long time to figure it all out, and it can take hours to get through the whole testnet.

With nodes, everything is simple until you start setting it all up. I don't have to discourage anyone about testnet but it's a very cool and common way to scam people, the advice has been given and I m sure he wouldn't be held responsible for any miss or hack. I would have loved to share a project which actually was running a test on their app that they run away till date, there telegram group have been locked 🔐 and no one can make a post either.
I am always conscious of testnet instead using a free airdrop with spare wallet would be more valuable because most of those testnet they run will somehow requested to make a some Minimal deposit to carry out the test of which I know most of you won't like to risk a dime from your ends.

You are right but few projects are still paying, I am following a guy on Twitter named Abraham Chase, he hardly promote any scam testnets, majority projects this guy brings always pay or still in the process of paying because they aren't launched yet. I knew Sei and Shardeum Protocol through him.
It's just so disappointing that scammers are even using a supposed to be an opportunity for people to earn as their way of stealing funds and fooling people. Telegram groups aren't reliable all the time because if scammers would use this platform, it will be easier for them to escape and run away from their victims. The only thing that we can do to avoid scamming activities like this is just to search every detail about a testnet project so we'll have an idea about their legitimacy and their potential to succeed.

Out of those all testnets that you've worked with, how many of them became successful with their launching and how many have paid you actually with their tokens?
Not yet received so far as Ive done recently all of these Ive mentioned. But dont worry I'll definitely update this thread or even the list of testnet that Ive been monetized.
Thanks, looks like this is the new trend that's being done in most of those projects and some have already been rewarded with a few of it that they've done these test nets.

However, as you've said, one should be careful and still cautious and do protocols that don't entirely trust them with your resources.
Yes, and dont use main wallet for receiving tokens if its a live mainnet instead create a new one for safety. We dont know what kind of threat could be present especially they are running on testnet.
Correct.

It's better to be sure when it's come to these things. You don't compromise and intended to use your main wallet on this one because you might also be traced that you're the person who owns that wallet with certain allocated funds on it.

How people are being rewarded? The project will airdrop coins to the main network of the addresses that participated in the said event from testnet?
This is how I understand this, it's like they have the list of addresses that qualify for the reward and that's the time they will give the real coins to the main network.

Usually, after the launch of the main network, an airdrop will be made to the wallets that took part in the testnet. But it also happens when the project is already running on the main network, additionally conducts a test on the test network. A recent example is UMEE, which, after launching the main network, conducted a re-paid test on the test network.

At the same time, not all projects initially indicate whether the work in the test network will be paid or not. Therefore, there is a high probability that your work will not be paid.

Test coins are always used to complete tasks in the test network, and even if you wish, you will not be able to transfer coins from the main network there. You get these test coins for free as an airdrop and they cannot be withdrawn to the main network. Obviously, you are confusing the execution of test tasks on the test network with testing on the main network, where it will really be necessary to bear the costs.
