Having WDC --> USD will not help the price most likely. Any increase should already be factored into the price based on the Efficient Market Hypothesis.

The one worry I have, is that direct exchange will actually lead to devs taking their money out. They now have extremely easy access to getting USD with their alt currency.

I think for WDC to succeed it really has to innovate, and fast. Other existing coins (PPC, LTC, QRK) are shooting up in terms of community growth and development + there is competition from new coins everyday (COINYE and random ones that draw money out of existing cryptos).

Can someone tell me why the price is crashing ?

All alts have been going down.
Nothing to worry about with WDC.
In fact, it's a great buying opportunity with direct buying being open to public in the near future. I'm guessing (and hoping, tbh) price will double or more once they go live.

I'm pretty confident WON'T double when it goes live. The market knows it's coming, so it's not going to be some kind of rush to buy coin just because it's gone live.

The only way it will double is if some retailers actually pick it up or coins start getting traded. Coinmarketcap.com (I know it's not that reliable) shows 24h volume at just $136,088 - that's why it's sinking so fast. Hopefully the release will see some marketing by the devs - there's hardly any community at the moment.

One of the problems WDC has is that we actually have a very strong community and following but we are not very vocal on bitcointalk or reddit.

Our forum gets a lot of traffic and there is almost always discussion going on at IRC chat # worldcoin. It is just that the masses on Bitcointalk don't see us spamming the Alt section constantly so they think we are just another coin with little interest.

You only lose if you sell cheap. Wink

WDC is well placed in the alt market. I would not worry about that drop. See it as a chance to get some more before it goes fast up.

just because worldcoin will be exchanged for fiat maybe doesn't mean the price is going to have a meteoric rise in price. other alts are already being exchanged for fiat and they aint going off the charts

Really getting worried by this :

http://gyazo.com/f1f5ce9bd3c0bdad5b4175fb53fc1123

Some reasons :

When such a 'great' platform would released where everybode believes in then everybody would allready start with buying, now are people allready selling

Are there some things we don't know ?

Other alts have a little bit a rise but wdc is really going down , back to the old levels of 10000 and losing a lot of money ?

I really don't that i'm getting out of worldcoin ...

Mcafee siteadvisor reports a warning for the worldcoinfoundation.org site

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/worldcoinfoundation.org

I'm expecting this is a false positive but does anyone know why this would happen?  If there's something on the site causing this it needs to be removed otherwise it could give a bad first image to anyone using siteadvisor.

I've been questioning WDC a lot lately too. It seems the entire future of WDC is based on Scharmbeck and a few other qualities that virtually all alt coins have now (fast transaction times, large supply, etc. Soon, I don't know if even Scharmbeck will be much of an advantage, as cryptsy should be accepting USD at any time.

The piece that seems to be getting the least attention, and that should be getting far more, is the merchant tools. As a merchant myself I can tell you that the only crypto-currency that I would even consider accepting right now is BTC.

I have to agree that the main focus at the moment should be the merchant options. Scharmbeck is a great way to allow people to buy directly into WDC and sell WDC to $'s.

As the chap above rightly mentions, most people will only accept BTC as a valuable payment. Would someone accept an altcoin knowing that in a week it could half in value?

WDC has to put itself into a position where it is a trusted coin where people can happily accept it as a way of taking payment. After watching the market over the last few weeks, WDC has been very stable. I believe this is a good sign.

I think one of the reasons WDC isn't increasing in value at the moment is because there are lots of people mining and autoselling the coin.

Once Scharmbeck is released to the public, WDC only requires a handful of websites to accept WDC as payment through Scarmbeck's merchant options and the coin could quite easily take off..

It's a stable decline in value we are seeing, meaning merchants has no incentive to accept it. It's the complete opposite. I hope Scharmbeck turns this trend around.

I did post this in the Worldcoin Foundation facebook thread as an entry, I would like any retailer or service provider who accepts Worldcoin as payment, or donation, to have this image available. To download the .png file which maintains transparency in the corners for use on any webpage background you can get that here and resize and resave as a .png as necessary: http://tinyurl.com/l82czno , that's on Mega for download, if that won't werk ... https://mega.co.nz/#!GVQGGbDZ!CxOdnWzByKU9jP7kgfHuji0kygta4HsBALCjMPbM6gc

Here's the image, (this is also a .png), if you want to download this and use it, go for it:

http://i39.tinypic.com/2upfk15.png

Tips are always appreciated in lovely Worldcoins:

WDC: WdTbU9wKMDmZiCToKsmGG6gGHgaMww8CUU

Any suggestions for edits, or additional sizing, or border colors, etc ... I'm always open to that. Thanks for MINING Worldcoin, ;-), especially as NUT2 has joined forces with Scharmbeck's mineworks! Good show.
