Coins always have two sides, it's our own perspective to look, either on the bright or dark side
The thing I know on its dark side is, it is use to buy illegal stuffs in deep web. Making it look bad to people who are just new in bitcoin. These dark side are just some advantage of bitcoin to bad people and it seems people should be aware on it.
I guess you're right, bitcoiners buying stuffs like that makes a bad image to the newbies in crypto. And having good sides will always have bad sides also, you cannot just ignore the bad sides. Good and bad sides, are just factors to strengthen bitcoin.

when they lost their private keys because they didn't backup them
when they got hacked and lost everything
when they put all their money in an exchange and thet got goxxed
when they got scammed
etc..

What if i told you there was no dark side
Most people who are invested in Bitcoin know that it is a long-term investment. The new investors will sell at the slightest dip in the price, because they are not used to this kind of volatility. A lot of these investors mature into long-term investors when they realize how Bitcoin works. The profit is much bigger when you buy on the dip and then wait to sell on the highest rate. The "Dark" side of Bitcoin is the criminals and scammers that are using this technology too. < This is the same for all other technologies. Criminals use mobile phones, but more people use it for legal purposes. >

Why we need to look at the dark side or bad side of something? All we need to do is to focus on the positive side of bitcoin so that we will become successful. As they said positivity is the key to success. So we need to look always at he side that makes us become motivated.
We will deal with the dark side when it happens. However this might pose a problem to most people, because people tend to forget the "doon't invest more than you can afford to lose rule" when they see an asset that has risen so much so quickly. People may lose 80% or more of their finances in one go if the "dark side of btc" arrives.
I just dont see how it can ever get worse than that anymore.
I can. Bitfinex and Tether.
Gox was one weakened exchange, albeit a heavily loaded one. Tether has spread across all the alt markets too as well as driving BFX. The rise from $1000 coincided with the explosion in USDT being issued.
Bitfinex has a history of creating junk tokens, talking out of their ring piece and never answering straightforward questions. Maybe it'll all be fine. I'm far from convinced. The parallels with Gox are screaming in our faces.

We already saw the darkest times of bitcoin during MtGox apocalypse, losing like 90% of the price, and we survived, now we are sitting at heights that a lot of people never deemed possible, or at least unrealistic un such a short amount of time. We are now x3.4 times an oz of gold after such a fatal crash, it shows how resilient BTC is, and after the MtGox disaster, I just dont see how it can ever get worse than that anymore.
This is what I am also scared of. The dark side. Because as we all know in the past years, Bitcoin is showing as continiously a good performance or what you call the bright side. And up to now this is what is still happening. However, time will come things will change. We can not expect everything to be good because this is a digital currenct with a currency that will not just go up but will have its time to go down. The big question is when. The question where in no one can actually tell because it is the risk that is innate already to Bitcoin trading.
We are already in a sort of "dark side" if you look clearly. Communities being split (Core, BCH, Segwit2x), enormous transaction fees and long transaction times, and it doesn't look like we're gonna get by this any time soon. Not because the price is slowly going higher it doesn't mean we're currently in a good place. Other cryptocurrencies are improving fast. It might not look like it as of now, but I won't be surprised if bitcoin will be overtaken by another cryptocurrency in the near future.
maybe you dont, but for those who dont have the patience to hold bitcoin and sell when the price is really low, i think thats clearly a dark side.

What are you on about? If you'd bought in late 2013 you would've lost nearly 8 times your money if you'd sold afterwards at the wrong moment. The price was dead for months and months. You only returned to profit after a wait of more than three years.

We have experienced and are still experiencing the bright side of bitcoin: increasing profits, anonymity, a sense of security and protection, no third parties or banks meddling with our transactions. The dark side has already made itself apparent too: bitcoin is being used for illegal transactions and that is pretty much the downside.
We never know what the future holds. Yes, maybe the price will go down dramatically, but for now it's much better to live in the present moment and enjoy the ride

No need to wait for that day. Everything has a bad side or dark side whatever you call it. But now, bitcoin is really soaring higher. And I think it is better if we focus on the good side. Because it will just ruin you if you think of bad side that is going to happen. Be positive always.
