I don't see how a person in their right mind could lie about 3 sick relatives and being unable to see them because of financial problems.

Most scammers are mentally challenged in some way - i.e. not in their right mind.  We had a guy scam a flight for a funeral of a close family friend.

ok where is ur parents?  you didnt put this in ur story.  I mean im sure you cant be the only relative in your family and if you are, your grandma is dying she should have some medical provider, what happen before she had the disease, alot of these questions come into play.   I doubt grandma is sick and will be able to hold a sign saying help me with my grandson getting to me.    Im sure she will have to much pride for that.  Anyway story is kind of bogus, how the heck ur paying ur bills now?

you have to have some money or friends that can give you.

Listen, it's pretty obvious that people are just looking at my account and have negative feelings about what I'm going through, I don't see how a person in their right mind could lie about 3 sick relatives and being unable to see them because of financial problems. You aren't going to help, are you? No? Alright then, then can I get a mod to close this thread maybe so this whole stupid conversation can be over with?

you live in arkansas? what is the otc bitcoin market like there? i mean to say -- if you were able to garner donations to the effect of $200 (in bitcoins), would you be able to sell them for cash where you are? i am in a major city, and sometimes it seems difficult to sell coins for cash. (other times -- like in a raging bull market, my phone is ringing off the hook)

I honestly don't know, I've only been down here 7 months helping my mother out around the house and what not. I haven't had a chance to look around. The city i'm in right now is complete devoid of any entertainment value so I doubt any of them know what a bitcoin is.

actually, i suppose you could use localbitcoins.com to make an online bank transfer or other similar method that wouldn't limit you to the arkansas area. at current rates, you'd need about .35 bitcoins for $200.

Yeah, but honestly at this point everyone thinks I'm making this up as if I'm just magically pulling out 3 sick relatives out of thin air and it's some pretend sob story. I don't have any assets, I'm sorry this is the worst post I think I've ever made. I don't want to talk about it anymore because it's making me angry, why are people so skeptical about things like this? This is a legit request that I was going to make, I even made a blogspot for few weeks ago *before* I knew the timeframe of my grandmother. I just knew she had liver cancer, and that she was going to live 2 or 3 more years tops. Then I get a text from my aunt saying 2 months, and then it's been bumped up to 6-8.

The worst part about this? Is nobody is telling my grandmother about it at all. Nobody wants to tell her she's only going to live that much longer. Even though she'll be 89 in July they are afraid she'll end it now. She has a terminal illness and doesn't know her own lifespan.

Anyways, I don't know what else I can do to make this sound legit.

people are always going to be skeptical.. especially the ones on this forum. they are quick to call someone a troll or scammer without vetting. they probably base their opinion on the past, since there are so many scammers or trolls. i think it's foolish to come to a conclusion without sufficient evidence, but they think it's smart.

"I need money for a bus ticket" is the oldest scam in the book.

Don't believe the sob story, the guy just revived some forgotten Bitcointalk account to try to make himself more authentic.

Actually I'd forgotten the password until a couple months ago and was reluctant to post because I wouldn't know where to begin but thanks try again Wink

People should be quite rightly sceptical of these threads as they're scams 99.9% of the time and there's no way for anybody to verify your story unless your provide some proof.

If it's true then it's a shit situation, but as harsh as it may sound this is nobody else's business or problem than your own. As others have mentioned, why don't you try hitch hiking or put an advert on a website asking for a lift there with somebody who might be travelling in that direction? There are probably many websites for carpools/car sharing that you could use and that would probably be a more productive use of your time.

maybe you're right, but you don't provide any evidence to back your point. i wouldn't believe him enough to give him the money though, especially since i'm not even close to wealthy.

he even made a blogspot/site about it http://gramwithcancerhelp.blogspot.com/

if he's some guy casually dicking around, i don't think he'd put that effort out.

This kid has been mining since 2011. I'm surprised he's here asking for btc.

No, I stopped mining in 2011 because at the time I only had a netbook and could only cpu mine which by that time was pretty much worthless. I then found out that the price of bitcoin fell dramatically and forgot about it, come last fall when I found out they were up again and started hanging out in coinchat, trying to make a few bucks just to make a living.

If I were mining since 2011 I certainly wouldn't be asking now, especially when the price dipped as low as it did.

If your grandma really wants to see you: can you ask her for the money?

You don't have relatives or friends that can help you?

I have friends who are in similar situations as I. I don't think anyone wants to make a 16 hour drive to pick me up to take me home, and my relatives and I aside from my mother and grandmother are not on speaking terms from a past event.

what about charter buses? also consider that android app (i think called lyft)... you can make a request and offer something to someone who is going from AK to PA, and maybe pitch in $50 or so.

charter bus from AK to PA is about $150.

sorry to hear that you are losing hope here. been there more times than i would like to admit. about how much money do you need to cover the costs to get out there to her, etc.?

From here to there driving it would costs at least 200 dollars, with gas and what not. I'd be making a straight through and probably not stopping until I got there.

For reference I live in Arkansas and am trying to get to Pa.

1) Do you drive? I.E. are you just looking for gas money?  If so, advertise your trip on Craigslist and pickup a ride-along.  There may just be another needing to make the trip that can help with gas.

2) Do you have any marketable skills?  Artistic, etc? Try posting a FOR HIRE link on http://www.reddit.com/r/Jobs4bitcoins or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

3) If you want to pursue the donation route, have grammy hold up a handwritten sign with your bitcointalk name with a note like 'Help me see my grandson one last time.' Or something similarly heartfelt and snap a pic to post here.  That will prove that you actually have a grammy and that she would actually care to see you again.

4) Check out http://www.gofundme.com/ if none of the above work.

The only problem with any of those is just the gas money, but I want to ensure that she also can get some care when I get there. I don't think I have enough karma to post to certain subs on Reddit, and my gram is in the hospital, I don't think she'd be up for it considering she doesn't know what the internet even is.

So gofundme I guess it is.

But unfortunately I can't find one that allows pay in BTC nor let's me go through paypal besides Indiegogo, and I've heard stories about their payout process.

I also feel ridiculously cheap asking for that, because it's not anyone's fault this is happening. (Grandmother has cancer 8-9 months to live, she needs me there and I live 16 hours away etc) So I guess it was just a worthless stupid idea.

Anyways, what idea have you had lately that's been dumb, or you thought might be worth it and then turned around it and it wasn't?
