If this is true then a good financial services and communications company will join the cryptocurrency and it will surely put more investors to the market. From what I understand they could use a blockchain, a Bitcoin like network to transfer some information securely.
They will not convert the fiat into Bitcoin and back or such, they very likely will not interact with Bitcoin at all.
However, Blockchain leads the innovation nowadays, whether the patent will be actually used or not.
