Just make sure you have a plan for the heat as that is important. When mining was still relatively new, there were people who found this out the hard way.

There is no exact answer to your question so it depends if what machine and what software you are using.
If you are planning to mine with your laptop it is not safe because it may damage the laptop due to overheating you must have a mining rig or ASIC miner to be able to mine 24/7.

Mining is safe as you know what miner you are using and you know what software you must use.
Learn first about mining and you will know which are safe and not.

Also, there are cloud mining sites(virtual mining) where you can rent their hash rate for monthly or yearly contract this type of business is not safe and most of them are scam.

Other sources that you may check to learn more about mining.

From the OP question I doubt they know what mining is all about.

The question is a bit baseless how do you mean is mining safe?  With out giving any direct purpose to your questions

Bitcoin mining is totally different from natural resources mining so don't get it twisted over here no one is going deep under the ground so don't get scared

You just have to solve some mathematical puzzle

For the environment? The power generated to  carry out mining activities as far as I know does not degrade the environment or serve as a source of pollution.
The network is a more complicated topic and you might want to ask your question in the mining board and be more specific in your inquiry.

The software that are used for mining is OpenSource, so it has been tried and tested for many years by the best developers out there. I have not seen anyone complaining about any exploits that has been found in the software yet.

The problem comes in when people download the wrong software that are not signed and this software might be exploited by hackers. I talk in general about software and not specifically of Bitcoin, because people are mining with different software.

What do you quite mean by safety in mining.
There are many features in Mining such as cost of mining(setting up a mining rig),powerful computing power, high electrical power etc.
All this makes mining really competitive and thus with the fall in the price of the bitcoin less miners,as to them it's no longer profitable to mine bitcoins.

I do not know of any danger in mining that requires safety
