As you can see, I'm a complete newbie; tailless and headless. I have no direction and I seek one. Educate us on the dos and donts of the forum.
How is growth measured here?

If you are really serious about joining this forum, make sure you read the rules in this forum first. So that you do not violate the rules and regulations that apply in this forum. Because if you have read the rules in this forum, your thinking will definitely be more enlightened. Then in this forum how to measure the growth of members, can be seen from the contributions of chats or discussions that are often carried out by members in this forum. The more quality and useful the post or writing is for other members and for the forum, it is certain that the member will have a good reputation in this BTT forum. Meanwhile, how to measure members who have knowledge or a good reputation, it is measured by ranking. Starting from the rank of beginner, full member, senior, hero, and legendary. And to achieve these ranks, members must have a sufficient number of merits and the number of activities that match the desired rank. In short like that, but if you want to be clearer, it's better to just read the forum rules in this forum, so that it's clearer.

First and foremost, trust is a quality that is necessary in every area of the forum. Be truthful and avoid plagiarism as a novice to avoid losing forum credibility and developing a poor reputation. Try to visit the forum as frequently as you can, and be sure to learn from it to advance your reputation.
Make an effort to create posts that warrant praise and rewards and from which a large number of forum users will benefit significantly. If you become familiar with it, the forum may be entertaining and educational.

If you have no direction then why are you here? Who introduced you to bitcointalk, and what did the person tell you that prompted you to sign up for an account? You continue to create topics more than you respond to them, why is that? I am sure you were aware of the pinned topics before you created your numerous topics. The pinned topics are all that could possibly be needed for you and soon they will lead you to what is next as per your preference.

Bitcointalk is primarily about bitcoin and crypto currencies, but it also covers a variety of other topics, including economics, localized discussions and off topics.

It's not much more than what you've Known already....
The forum has official rules with Which everyone needs to stick to - staffs and members from all ranks, nobody is exempted.
Learn the heritage In here; it's even more difficult when every thing sounds strange to your ears, so all you need to know about the forum is in here, just keep surfing.
I understand that sometimes, it's even more difficult to surf the forum, but then, that's the reason it ain't easy to survive so you'd wanna strive won't you? Grow in your thoughts and illustrations; always try to stand out from mostly given suggestions in a thread,... provide something very infrequent and mind blowing but at the same time, necessary for whatever it was for.

expecting someone to tell you so you understand better is not good enough. You can definitely learn and can read so many topics explained in this thread. You certainly have to try to find out what you don't understand independently. This forum has many topics you need, search those topics and understand.
if indeed you don't understand anymore, and you are too newbie, asking a few questions like in this thread is the last resort. But try your more trying, you will definitely find it.

newbies should focus on the sole purpose of the forum which is the learning and forecasting bitcoin to everyone in the world. So that those who are ready to invest in it will do that and I believe that is one of the reasons of creating this forum to expand the bitcoin Community. As a newbie you have to follow the instructions of the community and make comments whatever you understand. Ask questions if you are confused of anything.

If you are completely new to the forum then you must know all the rules. So if you want to know good details about the forum then you need to spend enough time. And you will gradually learn everything with the help of everyone in the forum. When newbies take their first position in the forum they don't know anything due to which they face a lot of problems. So I suggest you to go through these forum posts and learn about the forum.

My first advise to everyone coming new to this forum is to take their time in reading the forum's rules and regulations, learn about bitcoin and the forum, be patient, avoid altcoins for a start, take low risk by investing on the amou you can afford to loose, also know that bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme, desist from anything that associates you with making quick money irrespective of the platform and don't use centralized exchanges for storing your bitcoin or crypto.

I agree that new newbies should first become acquainted with the forum rules and guidelines because otherwise, I doubt they won't be able to achieve their goals on the forum in the manner they desire. Another piece of advice I have for newbies is to avoid useless emails, messages, and links, and to resist becoming arrogant when someone suggests investing in another coin and getting paid within a day.
Being greedy is the only way to avoid being scammed after learning a lot about bitcoin as a beginner. You will be satisfied with your investment if you aren't greedy and invest in a small amount that you can afford to lose.

How is growth measured here?

Welcome to this wonderful forum Jamala, I can see you are already having some fun in the politics and society section of the forum, which means the forum is becoming more interesting to you, I am glad you are here.

This forum has various sections where you can interact and learn about anything you want. You can also ask questions about anything related to Bitcoin because, as you can see, the forum is primarily a Bitcoin discussion forum, but other topics are welcome as well.

My main piece of advice to you is to read through the forum rules and regulations, study them, and you'll be fine here.

On growth; Because the forum operates on a merit system, your number of merits determines your rank in this forum, and merit is a reward for your great contribution to the forum, which is a reward for your quality posts and interactions in the forum.

Most importantly, avoid plagiarism.

1. There is no alternative to reading more and ambition of learning. If you don't have an ambition of learning here you can not improve yourself.
2. Don't be greedy and don't try to make fool others
3. People have opportunities of learning here. So you will have also. But don't try to earn first before learning.
4. Before answering anyone try to read the problem/issue first.
5. Be respectful to every member here.

If you come to the forum not because of bitcoin or crypto, then there is no hope of survival and I believe there is no other motivation that is far greater than the cause of bitcoin or crypto. If my understanding is not wrong, this forum was created as a bitcoin place and eventually grew to be as widespread as it is now.As for the rules that are allowed or not on the forum, many people have suggested that you read and study them.

If your intention is to learn about other issues, there are millions of social media and resources you can visit, although the forums are not only limited to discussing bitcoin and crypto, but basically this forum exists because of bitcoin.

How is growth measured here?
Growth is measured by how far your knowledge has developed from the beginning of knowing the forum to going through the learning process. If you can go through all the processes, it will look easy and most importantly "read a lot".

Don't cross boundaries that shouldn't be crossed, the forum chooses several rules that must be obeyed by anyone, make this thread a guideline to explore the forum deeper. To become an active member of the forum, you must start with a clear intention "what is your purpose in joining the forum".

It is not difficult to master a number of important points that can add insight to you. The first thing you prioritize is reading. Take your time to know how the forum system works and learn to improve posting quality.
Regarding Merit, it's simple in my opinion, merit will come when you have successfully contributed to the forum. Lots of users are ready to help you at any time, every post that is considered quality will be rewarded with merit by other users.
Keep trying and learning because the forum is a suitable place for those of you who want to learn Cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin.

To the new members of the forum I would like to say that you should be active on the forum regularly. There are various forum rules which you should read carefully. Make various informative posts on the forum. Follow the senior members of the forum if you don't understand something. Always try to gain something from the forum. Your curiosity should be such that senior members of the forum are helping you by seeing your curiosity. Gaining some knowledge from the forum should be your main objective. Achieving merit should not be your main objective. Respect every senior member.

Once you have gained sufficient understanding of the forum basics you can proceed to the next steps. Such as various investment related information trading information etc.  Hopefully by following these you can go from being a newbie to an experienced member of the forum.

No need to overcomplicate it, OP. Growth or whatever you call it, just follow the rules, contribute to discussion just like what you do in any other social media. You're not really required to do so though.

Just use the forum whatever you want. I treat it like a more of a Reddit but with specific focus. You don't need really need to grow, but if that's what you want, just contribute just like I mentioned.

Being active in the forum and producing high-quality content are the only requirements for earning merit, which I am aware is all new users need to advance.
All you have to do to stay safe on the forum is adhere to the rules and regulations; if you are caught plagiarizing anything from another person and posting it under your name, your account will be permanently banned. Simply copy the post URL and paste it into your own post whenever you come across anything you want to share. Participate on the forum and be active there. Much obliged

First understand that here is a discussion forum, so you are not under pressure to impress anyone and nothing like you failed. You are not in competition with anyone.
While other forums discuss other things, he discuss bitcoin as the name implies. You can also discuss altcoins, politics, gambling, economics, trading etc in thier various boards.
As a newbie, appear as a newbie such that as you grow in the forum you grow in experience and bitcoin knowledge.
If you really want to last long here do not plagerise (to copy other people's one claiming it to be yours).
Do not spam and do not check. Abide by the rules and you are good.

In the very words of @odolvlobo "read more post less", this is one simple secret to learning fast and easily assimilate with the dos and don'ts of the forum. Don't get carried away with the urge of gaining merits at all cost in this your little beginning instead use this stage to build your knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrency and the working structures of the forum so that you can have a good wealth of ideas to be able to contribute qualitatively in forum discussions which indirectly attracts merits for your rankings.

I'll not fail to leave you a caveat about the imposter's and scamming schemes you might come across in the Crypto space, make sure to do thorough research and ask questions where you are not comfortable about certain recommended projects. The Crypto space is a  jungle of itself, becareful and creative too and you will survive eventually.

Op this your thread would have been posted on the first or second post of the account but this is 14 post and that means you are not totally newbie in cryptocurrency even though you are new in the forum. As examplens your breaking down of politics is not bad and here you are trying to contradict your knowledge. You are good in Politics and economics. Probably you might need the knowledge on Cryptocurrency. And from you posts, you can read and write therefore I recommend you to make some research on Google and read more on Cryptocurrencies and bitcoin. With that you knowledge will also be centered on bitcoin.

Yes according to his post history we can understand that he has knowledge on politics. But then I saw his replay to the bitcoin post. So as I can see he has some sort of knowledge on Cryptocurrency. As Agbe said Google is a best place for free education and also don't forget about youtube. I personally recommended you babypips.com also. There you can get all the basic knowledge from A-Z simply.

First of all,I will like to make all the newbies in this forum to know that the bitcointalk forum is  not a place where ones goes in search of the big bag,it is not also a place where one thinks another person's idea is his own,the forum was designed for people who are interested in Bitcoin, and wants to make money through bitcoin.thefore,I will advice everyone new in this forum to always make sure he or she observes the forum rules and regulations, and shouldn't violate it,if not,you will be automatically kicked out without hesitation and warning.
Every newbie should be more focused on making quality posts and not posts that do not meets the requirements of this community.Forget about merits and think of the quality of posts you can make to attract the minds of people

I think for beginners who want to start joining this forum, the first thing to start with is reading the rules embedded in the information thread, which is a very important first step to take before starting to actively participate in the forum. This will help beginners to understand how forums work and also provide information about what can and cannot be done in these forums. In addition, reading the threads pinned on the information boards can also provide useful information about the topics discussed in the forum. These threads usually contain information on a particular topic that is discussed in depth by more experienced forum members.

By getting used to reading the rules and threads pinned on the information board, beginners can more easily understand the rules in this forum. This can help newbies adapt more easily to forum activities and avoid inappropriate and prohibited actions on forums.
A frequent must read The Beginner Board and Help are specially designed to help beginners get started on the good use of this forum. Reading every post pinned on those boards is essential to understanding how forums work and to get the help needed to get started.

Because the Beginner and Help boards have information that can help beginners better understand how to use the forums and troubleshoot common problems they may encounter. By reading every post on this information board, beginners can avoid fatal mistakes and can get the help they need quickly and effectively. Growth is measured by what you get on this forum and the progress of your own account ranking.

This post is basically asking “how do I get merits”. There is no education you will get that’s better than the pinned threads on this board, I suggest you read more and post less. Also use the search engine, so you don’t create duplicate topics, the forum has been here for over a decade and it’s very likely your questions may already been asked before.
I think it is already answered or there could be a thread with similar topic where the answer for OP's questions could also be used yo answer the other. I saw another newbie rank account asking how to get merits. At least, OP wants to know the Dos and Donts in the forum and I think op will learn grow sooner or later if op always use the search engine. Asking How growth is measured here could also mean op wanted to rank up to be able to join campaigns.

I normally would advice newbies to find an area of the forum you particularly enjoy conversing in and focus on your niche, before you spread to other boards, but your post history is full of posts in politics & society and discussions that are not bitcoin related. One thing I know for certain is this, as long as you do not relent in your effort to remain relevant by posting comments or new topics here, a time would come when you will earn from the labour you put in.
Also, try to make great posts that are Bitcoin or cryptocurrency related more, because it would earn you merits and help you rank up.
Avoid negative trust by all means and once you start taking advantage of the opportunity here, as per performing tasks with rewards, joining campaigns  and staying true to the rules of this forum, and most importantly using reference links where applicable, you would appreciate belonging to this forum.

My advice to beginners is to get used to reading more of the rules that have been pinned on several boards. because every board in this forum is actually almost all of them, there is always a thread specially made and at the very top of the pin. so when you visit any board in this forum, take the time to read some of the pinned threads. because usually it is about the rules for the forum/board itself.

examples of several threads about the rules embedded in the Board Meta.
 - Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?)
- Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
- Do not post off-topic replies
- FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit

that's one example for the Meta board. and on several other boards there is also the same thing and especially on the Beginner board and this help. if all newbies read every post pinned on every board then I don't think there will be (at least) new users who get lost in the discussion on this forum.

As for what is not allowed and what is allowed, of course you only need to look for the rules that are in this forum or those that have been pinned on every board you post. And in terms of growth, it is measured by how smart you are in making good contributions to this forum, both through brilliant ideas and also through knowledge that you already know.

Because here everyone is required to always learn more about every thing that is needed and is not yet known, so you also need to study outside the forum so that you can provide good ideas through your posts here. Now start reading more things and then study them so you can understand them very well.

The most basic advice from me to you as a newbie is don't be lazy to read. Some of the threads that have been recommended in the comments on this thread can help you find the direction you are looking for.
Newbie should read and learn more than posting, learn all the rules and guidelines that direct you to improve the quality of the posts. To become an established user on forums takes time, you have to be able to get through it patiently until you master some of the rules that cannot be broken.
Good luck, I hope you feel at home in this community.

Dos;
• Follow the rules,
• Do more or reading than writing,
• Join discussions,
• Find what interests you,
• Slowly acquire more knowledge as you get good at the basics,
• Do more reading.

Donts;
• Do not plagiarize,
• Do not spam,
• Do not spread malware.

How is growth measured here?
The forum's metric is activity and merits which gives your rank. Merits being the most important of the two.
Your personal metric which is by far more important is how much you're learning and how close you're getting to your goal of being on the forum.

Don't give more attention to posting. Dedicate your time to reading about Bitcoin and the forum. Your focus now shouldn't be to grow but to gain knowledge. Welcome to the forum, OP.
read the welcome message and also learn how to search effectively; Last but not least, see the FAQ for everything you need to know about the forum.

The Bitcointalk forum is the best place in the Bitcoin community to learn anything you want to know about Bitcoin and its technology. In the forum, you are under the education of some highly experienced Bitcoiners, miners, and developers, so as long as you have any difficult situation related to Bitcoin, you can use the search icon, and if you don't find your answer, you can create a thread about the topic and you will get more opinions that may be able to help you. Welcome to the forums.

for a start, you should be honest. As I can see from your previous writing, even if you are a newbie, you started giving political analysis and pieces of advice. this post of yours seems to me more like an attempt to collect merit (translation gave a different meaning).
~snip~

Good observation, I also find it strange when someone asks for instructions and has been writing on the forum for a week, mainly on the topic of politics and economics. If you come to a forum that has "bitcointalk" in its name, and you don't show that you have any interest in Bitcoin or altcoins, my only advice would be to ask yourself "maybe I'm in the wrong place?"

Not that I want to discourage the OP, but I just want to say that if I'm interested in football and not basketball, then I won't go to a basketball game, pretty simple.

Just be gentle, polite choose areas that you are good at focus on those boards. Few members has dropped links to the rules of newbies, in your own free time also go through the unofficial btt rules.
Don't plagiarize, don't word spin, take this two warning very serious.

I'm sure that this is your first forum account the first thing in order for you is to read a lot and refrain from posting for the sake of posting, you've done the right thing finding this section for your guide to starting here in Bitcointalk you can also check the meta section it housed all the rules and on this forum.
Learn everything you need about this forum and you can do this by concentrating on these two sections, meta and this section, take a least a week of reading topics and discussion on these two sections.
When you think you learn a lot then that's the time to roam other sections of this forum, go to the section of your interest, and don't try to act as if you know specific subjects, the most important thing is to avoid spamming and redundant posts.

it's okay to discuss some things in life, but those are not things that improve this forum. try to be in the discussion, not only to write something but to at least try to influence its further course. also as a newbie, it's perfectly fine if you spend some time reading and learning.

I will agree that this is a good start for any newbie.

if you are not that familiar with the forum and its rules read the following links below. do not plagiarise content, and if you are going to take information from someone else or from an article, make sure to cite your source.

@Jamala, just read these two links, they are important.

Go to meta board and also beginners and help board to read the sticky or pinned threads there.

If you want to grow your account on this forum, be visiting this forum regularly and be reading what other members that are have high merits are posting. Reading than posting will help you to post more than read later. But your success on this forum is to read what others are hosting very well and be bitcoin oriented.

People's assessments are generally based on the merits obtained, but that's not a reason for people to chase you desperately when you are hard enough to achieve. The process of getting to the maturity of the mind takes time, first make this a fun place to learn something.

Read more, post less. It is as simple as that.

Status is gained by earning merits. Someone may award your post a merit if they feel it is worthwhile. Posts that have little value rarely earn any merits. So, read as much as you can so that you can write posts and replies that others consider to be worth awarding merits.
