Sure.  But what I'm saying is we have to caution newbs from just buying a coin just because you support it.  NXT is on a downtrend, so it's practical advice to tell them to avoid it for now.

That's all I'm saying.

And that's fair enough, I reckon.
We' re not here to make BS promises to people that we can't back up.
Nxt is frikking great, but do not put your life on the line to invest in any alt (or BTC, or pork bellies for that matter)

I saw a couple of guys get wiped out (literally, all gone) on margin trading BTS recently.
They bought into the hype, tried to make some quick easy money, and lost it all.
Admittedly, it's their choice, but projects shouldn't try to BS people into taking that sort of risk.

Hmmm....NXT has lost 7.74 % over the last 7 days (in dollar/euro/fiat value), while LTC has lost 8%, while BTS and Ethereum are both 27% down.
So, yeah....meh. It's a crapshoot, tbh.
I admire guys who can day trade in this nightmare market, but it's just too bloody random for me.
My bet is on the team with the most useful tech for the long term.....imho ( Grin

Pro Tip:  Grin

Avoid 2.0 Coins like Ripple, Bitshares, NXT

Supply > Demand, Big Bagholders and no liquidity

If one of these coins should get a pump you can open a short on poloniex

well tokeweed, there are legitimate businesses making money and distributing dividends on the NXT Asset exchange.  NXT is one of the more resilient cryptocurrencies, it's more than just a traders token which is pretty much what most everything else is.

YMMV

Yet NXT was dumped despite that.

If some newb bought at .000038 with a significant amount of his savings, I'm pretty sure he'd get a good dose of reality in trading.  And not just in crypto, but trading in general.

Welcome to pretty much every alt.  This recent culling will spell doom for some.  I just gave you the reasons why it wont for NXT.  BTW, div paying assets barely budged in NXT price.  Those were the investors.  The speculator crowd and LSUM were the exit crew.

That guy was wealthy as fuck with almost unlimited source of capital who shat caviar and pissed champagne.  Most of the newbs here are ordinary people who are basically gambling their kid's college fund in alts, hoping to make some life changing amount of money.

It is that belief in that saying you posted that make ordinary people lose money.

I feel Bitshares has got to explode... Too much of depressing price action for too long, yet the project is most advanced decentralized asset exchange & has some unique features.

My 2 (non-fiat cuz that's what we do here) cents if it's worth anything...

The best alt coin to invest in is the one that has the best marketing bull shitter out there. Everything is speculative and is sometimes backed by a good theory/technology/(insert another slash word here) that makes people believe in it. Yeah I know I'm going to piss someone off by saying this but honestly, c'mon. If an alt coin can get enough smart people out there to back it, then boom goes the chart. Don't misinterpret me for saying to go with the masses, because that's not what I'm saying at all. You have to do your research, educate yourself, and be ready if it comes.

^^^ all of this is discredited though because I'm a newbie on here.

Over 20x faster than Bitcoin,  7x faster than Litecoin. Cheaper. Energy efficient. Scalable long term. Mint coins instead of mining coins.

Right now?  If you have BTC, hold it and see where this run up goes.

I am not sure which coin is a good buy now but for trading
ETH is a good buy if you can get it cheap. This coin has wide swings which can give you opportunities to earn bitcoin while trading this coin.

Well as the bitcoin has been doing good these past couple of weeks, I wouldn't invest into an altcoin

I'd rather buy bitcoin for now and hold on to it

Who knows what will happen to it in the future .

Pretty much any coin could be a good pickup right now because one BTC bump is over or if BTC settles back down the ALT's will pick up again. That is pretty much a certanty, BTC is just too lucrative not to trade right now.

Hello, since it seems bitcoin is going through a nice upsurge atm, what altcoin is a good buy right now ?

I'm new to trading and still have a way to go understanding it all, but I heard that altcoins generally rise when BTC rises. I got some extra BTC I could invest in an altcoin atm. Maybe litecoin?

Thnx

LTC if you make it. NXT if you don't.

LTC is more likely to follow BTC's surge if it continues to go up to 1000 USD Karpeles style.

Avoid NXT.  It's trending down to who knows how low.

Avoid NXT ... now is the time to buy! Once InstantDEX launches Chinese $$ will be all over it, and recent dumps from 2013 whales are (almost) finished, so from here on its all about tech, and in that department nothing rivals NXT

But what if it still continues to trend down?  Remember...  No can really predict the market.  So I won't advice newbies to buy downtrending coins.  All you get is another stuck whining bag holder waiting for a price surge which who knows when.
