and i will say as i have a million times before.. for what purpose ?
short term financial gain ?
long term financial gain ?
to support a quality coin ?
what ?

anyone that gives you an answer on such a vague question should have their advice disregarded.

Personally I do a little bit of all of the above, I have a handful of coins I support hardcore, I am partial to POS (Proof of Stake) coins myself, I like the Pump and dumps to make a quick coin, I like long term trades on certain coins DRK, LTC, BC. I solo mine, I pool mine, I like what I am doing, but to answer your question you have to follow Spoetniks advice, because what works for me may not work for you.

I will follow a good pump and dump to the fullest extent, its a fast way to increase your BTC weekly, its a good way to get them faster than anything else. I would Find yourself a coin you like that you can mine for profit. I am partial to Zetacoin and Betacoin for solomine dumping daily. Zetacoin and Betacoin are easily solo mined right now, low difficulty. My PoS coin I am partial with right now is CAPTcoin, I like the developers and the coin, I invest time and money into this coin, I will buy it, stake it and buy some more, It is not a coin that can be mined tho.

There are quite a few Script coins newbies could solo mine in right now with enough hash and make that one of their favorites. Check thru coinwars look for a low difficulty medium hashrate network coin, check its history on Bittrex and/or Cryptsy, and refer to its [ANN][COIN] thread, if like what the coin promotes and have the feeling you can support it and its developers, thats the coin you go with. Be careful tho watch for pump and dump coins. you dont want to put a lot oftime in a coin that is just a pump and dump coin in a long term mindset.

I like SHA coins because I already have a lot of that equipment, however I am ordering some script hardware this week or next week so I will be excited to get some new coins in my mix.

Ripple has a great future even if it isn't very popular in this forum, you should invest in it.

if its not popular in THIS forum I would not invest in it. There is a reason its not popular, which makes it a reason not to invest in it. 100% premine (if it is)  that is not a coin a lot of people like usually. It has pump and dump written all over it. (I have not investigated this coin tho. Just going by whats written above, and the fact I have not seen it on coinwars)

Now that is a good answer to your question!

Ripple is 100% premined. This is, indeed, a very good deal for the premined owner (money for nothing...).

Darkcoin and Hypercoin.

Darkcoin has a lot of scam features; and was just a short term 'investment'; Doge is fair and may growth again on a long term perspective. Indeed 2013 coins and before may have a great new life, most of them are scam 'improvement' free (premined, instamined, masternode implementation, IPO/ICO and so on...); But anyway I doubt that many 2014 coins will stay in our memories; Indeed a lot of 2014 coins, and some exchanges, are involved with what happened: a trust issue with investors and miners.

Why invest in one at all?
If any coin will give you financial gain ever, then it is Bitcoin. It has the highest chances after all. You shouldn't ask others what to invest in. Always and always to your own research and invest money that you can afford to lose.
What you might get a lot of in this topic is that people promote their crapy coins.

i agree but i have to admit i would not want to invest my hard earned money in Bitcoin at $500 usd each Sad

I am new to this forum. I've spent several days reading through all of the excellent information that is shared among the members. I had heard about BTC months ago, but hadn't truly taken the time to understand it. In the past week, I've probably absorbed hundreds of pages of info., watched over 40 YouTube videos from reputable sources and finally feel that I have a solid handle on Cryptocurrency. Regarding investing, one of the above posters said it correctly in that one must have an objective for his investment i.e. Short-term, long-term, day-trading, helping a coin grow in acceptance, etc. As for me, I see this as a wonderful long-term investment in which I can invest a small sum of money each month in mostly BTC and LTC and I plan to sit on them for several years. That's my objective. I do, as well, plan to use BTC for commerce where available to help move it forward. Since I've gotten into Cryptocurrency, I now spend most of my free time educating and staying current with the industry. It's truly exciting and fascinating and I agree that it can wind up being better than Gold. But that's my opinion and anyone getting involved in Cryptocurrencies needs to spend many hours learning about it and doing the research neccessary to be able to make educated and informed decisions about its future and potential.

I'm hooked Smiley

My thanks to all of you in this forum who take the time to share your knowledge and experiences with all of us. I look forward to doing the same.

ok, as the title says, im looking for an altcoin to invest in.

pm or reply back.

If serious, disregard every suggestion here (actually agree with Spoetnik... might be one of the few times) and do your own research. Everyone will of course reply with whatever coin it is that they are holding.

i am just hoping he will narrow down his vague question to be *more specific lol
