Sorry I misread OP.

I would do what the guy above said, put your spare CPU's to (XPM) Primecoin.

It is from the same dev as PPCoin !

yes actually there is a very good coin to mine with CPU right now called primecoin aka XPM

you can get the best version to mine with here

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xpm-ann-primecoin-high-performance-hp14-released-255782

you may have to run it on a linux shell using this version

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xpm-primecoin-high-performance-linux-compilation-guide-259022

instructions to begin mining are in the threads - good luck, and feel free to donate here if i was able to help!

Your block erupters will only work for SHA256, that means you are limited to some of these cryptos: (or more)
PPCoin (I like this sha256 alt, and their dev is super awesome)
Terracoin
Freicoin
IXCoin [merged*]
Devcoin [merged*]
NameCoin [merged*]

*Merged to bitcoin blockchain, you can mine them in addition to bitcoins.

I've got a couple of the ASICMINER block erupters plugging away on BTC, but I also have two MacBook Pro laptops with CPUs not doing a whole lot from time to time.

Recognizing CPU mining is dreadfully slow, and that it's unwise in some cases to mine due to overheating, are there any coins that people think could be profitably mined with the CPUs alone?

My guess is the answer is no, but I try to make decisions in life based on evidence, not guesses or gut feelings.  Smiley

Thanks for any input, discussion, advice, abusive language (wait, what?), etc.
