If you are asking about bounty stakes then they are not equal to number of tokens, they represent the percentage of your reward or share in the respective campaign.

Thank you everyone.

But why bounty campaigns choose stakes over tokens/coins?
Some do but most are afraid they might be overwhelmed by a high number of participants.

Stake could it be too the idea of receiving a reward when you hodl a coin that works with PoS. Some examples are coins like Decred where you are rewarded when running a wallet 24/7.

The idea behind PoS - Proof of Stake is that the stakes will help secure the blockchain.

Hello,

Let me explain stakes in simple words.

Suppose you participate in bounty campaign of ABC coin and you get total of 5 stakes.

let us assume bounty budget is 100 coins and 100 people participate in it and total number of stakes for all participants are 1000.

1 stake = Total bounty coins (100 Coins) / Total stakes of all particpants (1000)

As you have 5 stakes then you will get = 5*100/1000
Thanks so much for the simple explanation of the stakes,  i think its the same as steak. Thanks again

thanks for the detailed explanation. Very useful for us as beginners. And now I also know about the stakes of a coin. Thank you very much  Wink
Sure, it is the best explanation for newbies. But i will add that not all bounties has a stakes: some projects divide tokens equally or it has the fixed payment per week.

The steak system is not very pleasant for bounties, in my opinion. Many bounties do not limit the number of participants, which leads to a meager payoff in the end!

The stakes is like the percentage of tokens that you can get within the token allocation for the bounty after the ICO. Each bounty has different calculations and most of the time it is indicated in the bounty.

Example:

1 stake = Total bounty coins (100 Coins) / Total stakes of all particpants (1000)

As you have 5 stakes then you will get = 5*100/1000

If you are in doubt you ask you bounty manager for the calculations.

But why bounty campaigns choose stakes over tokens/coins?

mainly because for most campaigns there's a fix allocation of tokens for the total bounty program. campaign manager divide that amount into percentages for each campaign, Then make a stake system, at the end of the campaign they add the number of stakes and then divide it by the allocated percentage of tokens then you get how many tokens per one stake, Then it's easy to calculate number of tokens.

For example - if the allocation for certain campaign is 100 tokens  and bounty hunters earn 50 total stakes, that means 1 stake = 2 tokens. then you can calculate number of tokens per each participant.

Here's a detailed explanation about Stakes and some more post to refer if you have more questions .

Part of the total allocation that you will get,the more stakes that you have the bigger the cut of your rewards from the total bounty allocation. It isnt the total tokens that you will get,it is used to compute your total stakes from the total bounty pool (stakes) number of coins allocated over the total bounty stakes of all partocipants.

I think stake isn't the number of tokens what you got from the bounty.
the stake is like the point from your work in the bounty that you joined.

Basically most bounties chooses stakes because it is much more of a fair distribution of rewards vs effort done after the outcome is finalized.
It can be a gamble to the extend that the ICO turns out to achieve very low funds hence it will result in low rewards if there are too many bounty hunters running for it.

But it can be pretty rewarding if it is very very successful with not much people doing it

However, there are bounties that gives tokens per action like THUG or some having coins per signature post

They are just much more rare

Stakes rewards is used for bounty campaign, once we joined a campaign we have a total stakes at the end of the campaign but depend on the rank position, because the higher rank we have, the more stakes we earn. Because distributions of stakes are based on the rank status.

So I will not be sure how much I will get in coins until the end of the bounty? because I cannot know how many participants will be in all

Yep. Stakes system requires to sum up all data that recorded during the bounty period. A simple explanation is stake is just like a pizza slice. You can't tell the portion you are holding unless everyone that holds slice put it back again on the box. But you can have an approximate calculation of ever the campaign you join have a participants limitation.

Hello all,
I have a quite stupid question...
People always say XXX stakes to reward in their bounty program. So what's a stake? My understanding is that is this the project token? So we just avoid saying the names of different tokens by saying just STAKE for them all?

For example, if I get 1 stake for QASH, means that I get 1 QASH; if I get 1 stake for Tezos meaning I get 1 XTZ?

Thanks guys!!
